I wish I shared your optimism.....I just tell myself, after 2 WS in the past three years I can always go back to what I've known my whole life....heartburn and heartache.

Bleh. We were out of town this week with practically zero internet and newspapers that came a day late so we missed most of what went on - we drove home and listened to yesterday's game. Today we were home and got to watch the debacle - I mean, the game. No, I mean the debacle.

Oh well. I'm not a quitter. We'll always have 2010 and 2012. Sigh.

Starting to think the window is closing on this great run. Without the great pitching this was never but an average team. We always had offensive slumps but could pull through with the great pitching. Look at 2011 for instance, team was awful on offense after Posey went down yet they were in 1st place in August and still won 86 games. Which this season would probably take the West. The 2009 team was superior to this 2013 version as well. Even without Buster the pitching was still dominate and they won 88 games.

The farm system is just not very good. Crick & Stratton are years away and there is literally nothing in Fresno. Last I checked the team ERA down there was 5.69. The Wheeler trade set us back in a big way. If Sabean had known Timmy would have fallen off the map less than two years later he would have never made the deal but who could have predicted Timmy's demise? Either way awful trade as Wheeler was the ONLY backfill they had in the rotation.

In order for this team to be good by even next season a lot of things need to fall into place...

- Panda gets serious about being an All Star caliber player or hopefully they deal him.
- Pence gets signed, hopefully at less than $15 million per, either way they HAVE to sign him because we have no
other options.
- Come up with 3/5 or a starting rotation. Timmy is likely gone as is Zito, maybe they can bring back Vogelsong for one year?
- Bullpen needs a real power arm, Hembree is not developing well, will have to find this guy via trade or free agency, good luck.
- Belt needs to become a consistent run producer .285 20 HR's
- Pagan needs to recover and play 150 games as our OF depth is comical
