I am not sure what to think of the current trade proposal Marlins gave back to the Giants. Stanton for Panik, Beedle and Shaw. That would be a hell of s steal for us (we keep Ramos who is our only impact minor leaguer right now). Arroyo is ready to play everyday and is a natural second baseman. Problem is Giants get 250mil of Stantons 295mil contract.

Well, you probably can't have it both ways. Giants either give up a few of ther TOP prospects and eat less money , or that trade proposal you mentioned above.

I just wish the Marlins/Stanton agree on a trade soon, because it seems this is holding up the Hot Stove season, which has been anything but Hot.

I’m reading shaw, beede, arroyo and ramos. hell yes, I would love stanton but if there’s one thing the Giants don’t have much of, it’s young talent. can’t give away what little we have.

If the reports tonight are true, Stanton doesn’t want to be a Giant and isn’t coming. I’m torn. Would have been great but 250 million owed scares me.

The Dodgers have zero interest unless they can dump one of their dead weight contracts on the Marlins. LA has serious questions with their starting pitching going forward. Kershaw's back is now a permanent issue and the rest of that staff is not great. If they were going to blow huge amounts of money it would be on starting pitching, not another outfielder of which have too many already. I'm over Stanton at this point. He clearly doesn't want to come unless it's his only option other than being stuck in Miami. The Giants are in an awful spot, they should start thinking rebuild but I doubt they will. Instead it will be 2nd tier free agents and a meaningless trade or two for a stopgap player. I fear we are headed into the worst era of Giants baseball since the early to mid 80's.

I gotta agree. they don’t even want to go after any FA’s who get qualifying offers because that would cost draft picks they can ill afford to lose. I’d say the goal for 2018 is to finish ahead of the padres.

a couple of questions:

why the fuck did the giants want to give a declining, 32 year old $80+ million? could they not figure something out between our former “star prospect,” a cheaper, younger and fatter panda and/or our playoff hero from 2016?

also, do they think a 100% white team of position players (depending on what we do in CF) is the way to go? for a team with such a great african american and latino heritage, this is a fucking embarrassment.
