They are playing Terminal 5 in NYC on New Year's Eve! I bought my ticket today. :-)

Hopefully they will add another show on 12/30.

The show in Jackson last night was unbelieveable. This band is so damn good. Patterson and Cooley are two of the best songwriters/storytellers ever. We got there early and were able to score spots on the rail. It was an outside show, hot as hell, but such a great time. This band is so damn good it blows my mind.

Also, a band named Marah, which I had previously been unaware of at all somehow, opened and they put on a fantastic show. Such energy and good music to boot. Check em out if you are like me and haven't heard of them....some of their stuff has a very Springsteen-y quality (I noticed that about halfway through the first song) but they kick some major ass. I would see them again anytime I get the chance for sure.

They truly are. Those guys can weave a tale better than any drunk fisherman or old man sitting around whittlin' with his buddies ever could. For me, virtually every one of their songs paint a picture that can make you feel like you know the people or events in them first hand. Plus, this is one of the most kickass rock bands in the world. If I could spend every Saturday night listening to them I would be as happy as a pig in mud

My favorite "tale" song of theirs has easily become "Where The Devil Don't Stay"

Go-Go Boots is their next album of new material. It was originally said to be coming out in 2010 but has been pushed back to 2011. They have already started playing some of it during their live shows (as of May I think).

Yeah, just found this on Wikipedia:

Throughout periods of 2009, the Drive-By Truckers entered the studio and emerged with two albums worth of material. The songs were divided between March 16, 2010's release The Big To Do and the upcoming Drive-By Trucker "R&B Murder Album" Go-Go Boots (which is currently slated for a late 2010 release). The Big To-Do further brought media attention to the band, resulting in their highest chart success, appearances on David Letterman and Jimmy Fallon's late night shows, as well as a scheduled tour with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.[3] The band's contract with New West Records expired after The Fine Print was released, and the band signed and released The Big To-Do on ATO Records.

Can't wait. This band is easily in my favorite 3. They are fucking incredible song writers and they just do rock n' roll in a way that is nearly extinct.
