Have any of the other acts for Hard Rock Calling been announced yet? I'm tempted but unsure about forking out for a festival date and seeing loads of bands I'm not interested in.
They're normally quite well suited to the headline act.
Last year, for example:
-Neil Young w/ Fleet Foxes, Ben Harper & R7, The Pretenders
-Bruce Springsteen w/ Dave Matthews Band, Gaslight Anthem, James Morrison (the only "WTF?!" artist of the weekend; noone would even listen to him...)
I'd really recommend it, they put on a good lineup every year, it wont be some teeny band you've never heard of, thats for sure...
Will you be able to enter this place throughout the day? I wouldn't be able to even leave from Nottingham till 2 that day.
Went to see Cornell there 2 years ago, wasn't bothered about Aerosmith, you can enter at any time, but once you're in, you're in, there's no pass outs.
I was planning on being in Europe around that time so this works out nicely for me.
Helen you will make it to Dublin!!! I will make sure of it!!!
well with it bein the week of my birthday and all (I always get lucky ) I'll make it to Dublin anywho... somehow... and I will have to use random acts of violence to get in
Soooooooooooo glad you're coming though, we're due a drink or ten.
The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
Chicago 07? And love
What a different life
Had I not found this love with you
Great news. Will definately be going to Hyde Park.
Quick question though... how can we have 10C early entry to a festival?!!

As long as I can get tix I am there! We are so due some drinks
I think this is really wonderful, rubysdad... because it gives people plenty of time to save money and plans to go to Europe.
I'm just expressing my concerns about the trend of not giving people enough time to think and save for the tickets they would like to purchase ahead of time, especially in the economy state many of us are experiencing.
December? Ouch.
But... i'm just offering constructive comments that i hope you and your organization will consider in the future on how to make this more available to the fans who otherwise couldn't.
Thanks and congratulations to everyone who had been waiting for this announcement!
Berlin would be the city I'd choose for us to go.... very rich history there!
Totally agree. I'd love to hit this tour...but to commit to which overseas shows and dates I'll choose within 36 hours? c'mon.....The shows are six/seven months away...couldn't we have started the pre-sale in a week or two....or january....or feb....or march? seems a bit rushed.
i won't be getting tix for these ones thru 10C, I guess :(
So any guess whether the US tour will be before or after Europe? I'm tossing up what to go to - and figure flights to US are cheaper than flights to Europe (from Australia).
(and how do I change my forum name - sorry I just can't work it out - must stop drinking)
Jesus, I'm psyched! Although it's gonna be hard to plan this in the space of just two days...
the only planning needed in the next two days is "can i afford the tickets i want to go to, yes or no?" then after purchasing said ticket you can sort travel, hotels out in the coming month or two, or is that me just over simplifying it? :?

It may be that way for some, but unfortunately, I can't afford to buy tickets on an impulse and then hope everything else will work out. I accept the fact that this is the way things are, I only think it wouldn't have hurt if there'd been a bit more notice between the announcement and the actual on-sale date.

Anyone going to Dublin...I'm from Chicago and looking at flights for $800 round trip to Dublin. Anyone know if that is a good deal?
well if your going to dublin you could go to belfast as well the next day as its only a 2 hour drive, but yes in short its an epic idea and not a bad deal
The Berlin show - is it a festival or indoor arena?
TIA

I am not overly bothered about festivals or outdoor gigs. Having said that, went to the Wireless festival at Hyde Park last year, was excellent and really surprised me. They'll be some decent bands on for sure. Standing in the sun drinking beer on a (hopefully) nice day getting ready for PJ is a good thought. I would prefer if it was just a normal gig but you can't complain about seeing your favourite band when they come to these shores.
Rock on!!!!
Seen Pearl Jam 4 times in London, once in Manchester, as well as an Eddie show at Hammersmith.

I would hold off. It's way too early to find a cheap fare. Dublin is usually the cheapest place to fly to over there, way cheaper than London usually. From NYC i've found roundtrip flights to Dublin for $350. Typically, airlines don't publish their deals until 2-3 months before, especially with peak season time like that. Look often, but you can definitely find cheaper than $800, even from Chicago. It may be easier to do 2 round trips. Chicago-nyc (or Philly), Nyc-dublin.

dublin is probably the best sounding place(and the best people) berlin is meant to be great as well
The Point, Dublin... Great Sound, great night out afterwards. (i refuse to call it the o2, fucking commercialism)
