Almost went to the game last night, especially since seats in the lower bowl by the baseline were going for six bucks on stubhub.

from what i've heard arthroscopic surgey won't really help if he's got a degenerative condition. he needs cartridge replacement or something...and there's no guarantee he would be better after that. his career might be done.

gotta be one of the most disappointing seasons/circumstances to happen to a philly team that i can remember. we went from thinking the front office would keep the status quo after stumbling to within a game of the east finals last year.....then the sixers do the unthinkable! they finally make a bold move and trade for a "superstar."......they introduce him with a free, open to the public presser at the constitution center---a new era for sixers basketball had arrived! they were not beating the heat, but they would at least, finally, be contenders in the east and would have a shot after the heat were finished in a couple years or so. season started and bynum wasn't ready--no matter, the team held their own for about a month....then the waiting....the setbacks....bowling....more setbacks....allstar game?....no.....more injuries....more and more losses.............and all that optimism slowly, painfully, dissipated into the rubble that we are left with right now. unreal.

Yea i knew that as i TRIED to watch him play in HS a few times, and most of the time Bynum was in street clothes. I don't know why the Sixers didn't know cuz he only played across the bridge in NEW JERSEY!!!!

    what a disaster.

i think doug did all he could. without bynum and richardson, there was no way this team could have been much better than how they ended up. but i do think he got every ounce of potential out of them the previous 2 years. the 3 year thing with him is funny.

time to move on. wonder if deleo gets the axe too.

    Larry Brown rumors!!!

Yeah, let's bring back the guy who infamously took larry hughes over paul pierce...stripped this franchise of all draft picks, then bolted before he had to deal with the consequences before his contract expired. Yes, let's bring him back.

Actually it's a perfect fit. Two losers who deserve each other.

    Worst. Franchise. Ever.

I love the Hinkie hire. Hopefully this the beginning of the end of this endless cycle of terribleness.

Now get a young coach who can help the rebuild process

sabermetrics for basketball, dear god :fp:

if you don't get one of the top 5 players in the NBA you have ZERO chance to win a title. the only way to win is to get top 5 draft picks and not draft nut jobs like evan turner.

why do you hate sabermetrics? or this hire? I think you just love giving uneducated opinions

This is a great move for the sixers. It's about time

first the bynum trade and then the hinkie hire. as if we needed more proof that this is not the same old tired ed snyder run team. anyone who thinks differently, is just not paying attention.

said it before and i will say it again, i appreciate that these guys are not afraid to take some chances. very different than the previous decade. some are going to work out, some are not.

pjhawks--you like to talk about how much you like brad stevens. maybe you should reconsider given how he is pretty well known for utilizing advanced stats in his coaching(http://www.winninghoops.com/pages/Break ... istics.php ....http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/-colle ... on-butler/ )--more so than most college coaches actually. advanced stats are useful so long as you don't get all fanatical about them like some people and consider them the be all end all, which they are not.

i like the hire. and i like the names that have been thrown out there as coaching candidates.

    onward and upward....
