Did you ever get a chance to see them, Brian?
Sadly, no.  One of the biggest gaps in my concert going days.

I don't think of Jim Morrison as a punk in any way, shape, or form. He was a Psychedelic Poet Rocker.

Someone already mentioned The Kinks, and I think they were probably the first really major punk band (I've read that some call them proto-punk). Perhaps the Velvet Underground could be shoehorned into the category. They formed in the mid-60s.

The Poet, for sure.  I think h would have appreciated some forms of punk.

    New:

2009 Original pressing, even though it was recorded as one of the first ever punk albums in 1976..
I never knew this album existed.

What are the first punk albums?

MC5, Stooges, Ramones, Velvet Underground, NY Dolls, Crass?
Exactly, who were the first punk bands? Probably the ones you've mentioned, definitely the Stooges were one of the first. So the story goes with the above Death album, their record company at the time wouldn't release it unless the band changed their name, apparently it was too controversial at the time, the band refused so the album never got a proper vinyl release until 2009..
    That explains a whole lot.

The name wasn't that bad though.  Hell Sabbath changed their name to sound more menacing!
I guess some geeks took offence to it..

You were stalling on that one for a few years, weren't you?  I think they are out of print.  Did you get it retail?
The TP records sound so friggin good.  It's really astounding.

I got the yellow one too.  Sounds good.  haven't had a chance to really listen to it yet, just the first side.  I'm still in Petty mourning, so haven't moved on.

I don’t have a single Tom Petty record.  Saw him this past July :)

You really have to change that... it's musical genius mixed with a true appreciation of the vinyl format.  His records are excellent sounding.

Just arrived and waiting for the right time (probably tomorrow, "can't hardly wait"!) to give this one my full attention all the way through:

I dropped something behind this dresser that's in my storage room last night, and when I went back there to retrieve it I discovered an unopened and long-forgotten package from 10C! It's obviously an LP... but I don't know what record it is. It's from February 2014. I was busy when I found it, so I didn't even get around to opening it up ... What could it be?! I'm thinking it could be yet another copy of LB for some reason, given the timing, but why would I have bought that?? And why would I have received it in Feb 2014 instead of in 2013 when the album came out? Anyway, looking forward to finding out what my self-imposed mystery vinyl is later.

It could be the replacement vinyl or the 2nd (3rd?) pressing, which was rumored to have been superior to both the the original pressing and the replacement vinyl.
