One of my buddies has been telling me to get this for a while now. Says its amazing.

I absolutely love it, was in my top 10 of 2014. If you love pop hooks with intelligent songwriting you will love this as I do lol

I know this isn't new vinyl, but I wanted you all to check out what my dad made me. He has been really getting good in his woodshop since his retirement. I asked him for something to store my records and he built me this. Drawers are cherry (deep/wide enough to hold any box set) and the rest is curly maple. Super pumped!

That looks great. He should market it.
    Alright, alright, alright!

Picked these two up at the most excellent Red Devil Records in San Rafael yesterday:

Brian Eno, the bbc sessions: A most unusual Eno record. Recorded in 1974 with British glam pub rockers The Winkies. Eno's most punked out rocker ever.

The Rolling Stones, big hits [high tides and green grass]. German mono pressing. I like the US cover better, but having this in mono is awesome. Bill Wyman looks like a psycho mafia hit man with his pencil mustache in this cover photo, haha!

Always good finds at Red Devil!

Nice finds Brian, I'm a fan of that particular Stones album too. The Eno sounds interesting.

    New:

    Jakob - Sines.

    2014.

Quality New Zealand Post-rock three-piece. This is a full instrumental record, no vocals, 8 years in the making. Have been compared to the likes of Tool and Mogwai.

Yeh mine too, awesome artwork on the cover as well. I'm trying to post a photo but no dice!
I was flicking channels the other night and found a doco on the ABC about them too, pretty interesting. They were so groundbreaking and ahead of their time

From the review you posted, reesdog:

"When each member of your three-piece band suffers career-halting hand injuries consecutively, then your label collapses, and then just as alt-rock giants Tool ask you to tour the States with them your visa runs out, you might take that as a sign to give up. Napier’s revered post-rockers, Jakob didn’t though. They persevered and they persevered some more, and eight years on from the most difficult of births, Sines was born."

Wow! Talk about "hack or pack"! Must check that out!

I'm glad you had a read Brian, that's quite some story behind the band and making of their latest release! Not sure how easy it would be to get your hand's on a copy in the States, they might have had an international release, I'm not sure. But I'm sure our friend Google would know... :)
