Couple cool facts out of todays game. The Yankees are the only team in baseball that have not lost 4 in a row this year and they have yet to get swept at the new stadium.
posada out with post-concussion symptoms? saying it was from a ball that was fouled off his mask last night. if it's the one i am thinking of... it didn't bother him during the game, but sounded terrible on TV. even my girlfriend stopped and said, fuck! when we were watching it.

Welp, thats no good. Sounds like he may not be flying out west with the team tomorrow either. Hopefully he is alright.
I see they're skipping Hughes this weekend against Texas. They skipped him twice against Texas this year. He has good number against them.
yeah, and he has not pitched well on extended rest this year. Seems like he will be able to stay on rotation after this though. Hopefully he can get it straightened out. Definitely need him.

yea but it usually takes him about 2 starts after the rest to get it together. Maybe it'll be sooner.

ugh. I have a pretty good guess who the hitter was there
here's some yanks related stuff from keith law
Kyle Drabek reaches a new level
September, 9, 2010Sep 910:13AM ETEmail Print Comments24 By Keith LawThe Eastern League playoffs kicked off Wednesday night, with one divisional series starting in Trenton between the Yankees' affiliate there and the Blue Jays' New Hampshire affiliate, with an outstanding matchup of starting pitching prospects.

He needs to develop his change, but Drabek's stuff has hit another level.
Kyle Drabek came to Toronto in the Roy Halladay trade this past offseason and ranked No. 40 on my Top 100 prospects coming into the year, but Wednesday night he brought the best stuff I've seen (or heard of) from him, with two plus-plus pitches and an aggressive approach. He started out 93-97 in the first inning and was 91-96 by the end of his outing, hitting 97 at least three times over the first two frames. His power curveball at 84-86 was a big league out pitch, with depth and a very sharp break -- and he threw it for strikes in addition to burying it for swings and misses.
He barely used -- or needed -- his straight changeup, but it's also not yet on par with the other two pitches. He worked to both sides of the plate and overpowered most of the hitters in Trenton's weak lineup. Drabek takes a long stride toward the plate and generates great arm speed from it, although he doesn't rotate his hips much and is off the rubber very quickly. I'm more concerned by his tendency to throw across his body when going to his glove side because of how he cuts himself off in his landing. Those two pitches do give him ace potential that I hadn't seen from him, although the lack of a solid third offering and the minor delivery issues probably give him a realistic ceiling just below that.
Dellin Betances has a big size advantage on Drabek and a better changeup, but otherwise he was the inferior pitcher in every category. He sat mostly 91-93, touching 96 once and dialing up to 94-95 a handful of times. His changeup has good fading action and arm speed and is probably an average pitch in the majors right now, but he had to guide it to throw it for strikes. He throws a hard-breaking curve at 80-85 but had absolutely no feel for the pitch, failing to finish it, leaving it up or having it back up on him.
Getty Images
Overall his stuff isn't frontline-worthy, but Dellin Betances is on a good track.
Betances also doesn't get great extension out front and a slightly early release point may be behind his inability to command the curve, although his command in general was well below average. He also made two errant throws with men on base and generally seemed to lose focus with a guy on first, even though with a man on third he was able to bear down and focus on the hitter. He's just 22, has good arm strength and has a workhorse, top-of-the-rotation body, but the poor command and secondary stuff put him far from any kind of high-end starter ceiling.
I'll get second looks at the hitters Thursday, but the two marquee bats in the game did not impress.
Adeiny Hechavarria is slick at shortstop, but there's a lot of style there relative to the amount of substance, and he muffed a routine groundball in the laziest of ways -- he failed to come in, setting his feet and waiting for it to reach him, and an unexpected hop put the ball in his gut instead of in his glove. At the plate, he's got a long swing with a big finish and showed poor pitch recognition, but he deserves some extra slack there as a first-year player in the U.S. who's already in Double-A and is listed at 21. I see above-average run, throw and probably field tools, but the bat is a work in progress.
Austin Romine looked tired behind the plate, including one passed ball on a catchable fastball up, and his arm wasn't as strong as it was last fall in Arizona. He had one hit the other way against Drabek but otherwise couldn't catch up to the velocity and had no shot against the curveball.
Pat Venditte did pitch to one batter, pitching left-handed, and was 80-83 with a decent slider at 69-71; he's a good lefty specialist in Double-A, but it's hard to see that side of him working in the majors. The drama came as he was coming in and warming up; he replaced J. Brent Cox, who slammed the ball on the ground when Trenton manager Tony Franklin came to take it from him, then proceeded to throw a tantrum in the dugout and confront Franklin again. That should earn Cox his walking papers, as his stuff isn't what it was before Tommy John surgery (he had an above-average slider but threw it all the time with bad arm action) and no team should tolerate that behavior from any player, much less a non-prospect like Cox.
Thursday night's game is a sellout, featuring a rehab outing from Andy Pettitte, who'll go four innings or 65 pitches, with Adam Warren backing him up. Zach Stewart is scheduled to start for New Hampshire.
awful umpiring cost the yankees this game. leaving 18 runners on base doesn't help either. but still.
They had the strike zone graphic on the screen in the later innings. That pitch to Kinsler (where he argued and got thrown out of the game) was more than 6 inches inside. Side note, Kinsler has to be smarter than that. The Rangers are trying to finish this division off and win big game and you can't yell "Fuck you!" to the umpire no matter how extremely shitty the call was. You have to be a leader and you have to stay in the game.
On the at-bats by A-Rod, Posada, and Granderson, Scott Feldman hit the strike zone on almost every pitch but only a couple were called strikes.
I guess it is like basketball where the stars get the calls. Rivera gets the calls, Feldman doesn't.
Yes, Rivera is a class act and the greatest reliever ever and should get the benefit of the doubt, but shrinking the strike down to 6x6 inches on Feldman was ridiculous.
Dale Scott sucks!!
The last few Rangers/Yankee game have been very close, exciting games. I can't wait for the post-season.
