Yanks just have to win 1 of the next 2 to leave Florida in first place. Both would be nice but ending this series in first would be nice, period.

Hughes is going to the pen at somepoint regardless, he has an innings limit. Lilly would help that, sounds like the dodgers want him bad so it does not really matter

But that won't be until mid to late September. Unless his limit is lower than 175ip. Where will Lilly fit in now?

Lilly can fill pettittes spot so they can make sure he is absolutely 100% before he comes back. He takes such a long stride I would hate to see them rush him back. Lilly for the time being, get pettitte healthy then hughes can move to the pen. What do you think? You thinking pettitte will be back sooner than later?

Berkman is a yankee, has been since 5:30. Just have to wait till tomorrow afternoon so he can officially waive his 10 and 5 rights. I would not be suprised if he is on his way to Florida for tomorrows game.

this was on olney's twitter page about two hours ago

Heard this: With two trades in the books today, the Yankees are working on another -- presumably somebody who can play 3B

and here are some comments from Kearns:

I think when you get the opportunity to go there, you don’t really worry about that kind of thing,” he said. “Bigger and better things I’m worried about than playing time.”

“I’ve only been traded once, but it’s kind of like, you don’t know what’s going on,” he said. “I didn’t know anything. Came out of the game and was just hanging out. After the game they brought me in there.”

“You always enjoy playing teams like that,” he said. “Teams that are playoff caliber and World Series caliber teams.”

Saw the kearns comments, like to see that kind of thing. If cashman can pick up a backup infielder on the cheap, it will be one hell of a deadline for the Yankees. Expensive bullpen help can be had in august. Joba looked better tonight though.

I don't know know if Lilly is any better than Moseley. I know he's pitched here before. But I don't think it will be a good move.

I wonder if one of the regulars will be traded? Not that any of them have been rumored. But that would be something. Obviously not A-Rod, Jeter and Tex. Guys with big contracts. But the guys who don't make a lot. But are everyday players.

I could see Gardner if they could get something really solid. Maybe a package around Gardner, Nova and more for Bautista. That is all I could really see. His stock is as high as it has ever been right now. I doubt they will move Swisher given his contract. I think the Yanks are done for now unless the can somehow find bullpen help on the cheap. I think Kerry Wood could be an option in August.

I would be very drunk to make that Gardner trade. Where else are you finding a ninth-place hitter in the top five in on-base percentage and stolen bases and though Bautista's power is the highest of his career, I'd prefer the speed and on-base percentage over another power hitter.

He carried his success over from the end of last season. Who's to say he can't do it again.

Harold Reynolds would hit cano 7th in the Yankees lineup. This man is on tv why?
  • Cliffy6745Cliffy6745 Posts: 33,840
MLB network has berkman batting cleanup tonight, not buying until I see a beat reporter post the lineup
  • Cliffy6745Cliffy6745 Posts: 33,840
I am not saying I would make that gardner trade, just responding to a question about regulars who coul be traded. Gardners value will never be higher is all I saying.
  • Cliffy6745Cliffy6745 Posts: 33,840
Haha, Chad Jennings said there is no word on the lineup but it's safe to say it won't be the one reynolds just predicted.
  • Cliffy6745Cliffy6745 Posts: 33,840
Looks like Kerry wood now, I thought this would be in august. Bad numbers but could help. Need some bullpen help and not much out there. Can't be worse than park, can he?
