What a day. It sounds weird and creepy but these guys have been part of almost 2/3 of my life.

Really wish my old man was here to see this

Mo, Jeter, and Andy have been all I've known in baseball since I started watching in 1996. It's going to feel weird next year not seeing those two pitch.

Yeah, man. You have had a pretty good run.

Mattingly and the very late 80's early 90's teams were my first

we have been spoiled, for sure.
Guess I am a little older since i am from the Reggie Jackson, Mickey Rivers, Thurman Munson ,Craig Nettles, Bucky Dent, Catfish Hunter, Ron Guidry . Willie Randolph generation.

I thought for sure Soriano was going to get the game-winning hit, It would have seemed fitting.

Great day except for the loss, which seems to be a signal that the playoffs are not meant to be this year.

An MLB.com article said this was Mariano's last home game. How can that be given they have a series against Tampa coming up. Are they shutting him down or is that just bad sports writing.

It' not, were at home, it was just Mo's Day, but not his last apperance pitching at the stadium, soon though.
Going to take years to rebuild this team.

Its been real Phil. Shame the way things turned out. We'll always have 2009

I was at the palm steakhouse the night he almost pitched the no hitter and got hurt. Long time ago

I don't like the way Joe treated him these last few starts. And today bad luck after bad luck. He also had a good 2010 and 2012.

We can sign both Cubans Abreu and Guerrero for under 100mm combined and tell that ex crack dealer cano hired to go fuck himself.

:fp: I was hoping these ridiculous demands might go unfulfilled since so many are seeing how the Arod/Tex/Pujols/Hamilton contracts are working out.

Yeah it's hard to see any team no matter how desperate they are handing out 300M over 10 years.
  • Cash should've extended him a few years ago, not as bad but we're going to have to overpay for DRobb and Gardy after next year as well. He continually fails to lock in our key players and it comes back to bite us in the ass. I hope the yankees seriously consider replacing not only cashman but Oppenheimer who has failed to deliver any serious major talent since he got promoted after the 2005 season. Every year it's the same line our best players are in the lower levels. With the resources the Yankees have we should have a top farm system instead oppy reaches in the first round for players that aren't even worth a top 10 round pick. I liked the last draft but the lack of major league talent in our upper levels is a fucking joke. We need a complete overhaul of our player development system and heads need to roll to make that happen.

I can't lie, I've been emotional since the game started, knowing this is Mo's last home game.
