Alds tickets are not "horrible" on stubhub. Not great and probably not great for a student, but they are not terrible, right now.

That got me thinking about this offseason. First, they need to pay CC, no questions asked. Yanks clearly need pitching and it looks like there will be three decent options out there, CJ Wilson, Yu Darvish and Oswalt. I am not a huge fan of the guy, but CJ Wilson has put together another very very good season. I know he is a little old but he has pretty much no innings on his arm and he is putting up great numbers. I know next to nothing about Darvish aside from his incredible stats, I think the league he is in is equal to about triple a, I could be wrong though. Oswalt is aging with injury problems (LOTS) and I would imagine will likely want to stay in Philly (could be wrong, he could be looking to get paid and I doubt the Phillies will pay him all that much).

CJ Wilson is going to take a contract bigger than AJ's. I have no clue about Darvish. I would imagine the posting fee (which does not go towards payroll/luxury tax) will be more than his contract. And Oswalt will take decent dollars and multiple years to pry him away from Philly, I would imagine.

The Yankees have almost nothing to take care of this offseason aside from starting pitching. They will pick up swishers option, martin is arbitration eligible so he will be back and then they are pretty much set. I would imagine they would try and get another lefty reliever but their bullpen is in pretty good shape, especially with Joba coming back midseason.

Honestly, I would go for 2 of them with CJ Wilson being the priority.

With just Wilson the rotation looks a lot better. Add in Oswalt/Darvish which you don't really know what you will get out of either and it looks a little better. Maybe sign Freddy to a similar deal, and you also have the kids waiting for mid season call ups. Yankees will only be locked into CC and Wilson past 2013 and can go after the bigger names that will hopefully be coming available in a couple years.

    CC
    CJ Wilson
    Hughes
    Nova
    Burnett
  • To be honest Cliffy, I think Oswalt would struggle in the AL East. He's a 7-inning guy in the NL.

I think so too. I saw that article and got excited but the more I think about it, the less I like it.

I think some trades will develop Cliffy

That FA pitching crop is weaksauce. I'd piece it together in a cleaver way like this year, or trade for some #3, or #4 type talent

It's too early to forecast that, but no doubt there will be some salary dumpers in the offseason

Yeah, it is weak. I wouldn't mind CJ Wilson, just don't know about the years it's going to take to get him. Hopefuly some trades pop up, would be interesting.

CJ is going to get a BIG deal. Not that your team minds that sort of thing of course.

He is, and he deserves it. I could see him getting close to $100 mil for 6 years being the only decent pitcher available. He is following up a very good season last year with a great season this year. 6 years is very scary for a pitcher his age, but he only has 700 innings on his arm. He would add a lot to the Yankees, hes great for that stadium too, a lefty ground ball pitcher.

    Anybody read this article?

    http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_ ... on-red-sox

Apparently Cashman feigned interest in Crawford during the offseason to drive up the price as far as it would go for Boston.

I did read about that after it happened but I didn't see that actual quote, that's great. Love the Montero stuff in there too, Seattle fucked that one up.

Hahah. A sweep tomorrow would be fantastic. I will be at the first game heckling the shit out of them from my shitty seats.

    On a side note, Jesus!

Could this kids hype get bigger?

tonight was my first time in the " New" stadium,..
( yeah i know its already 3-4 years old )
    normally i am a traditionalist,..
    but i was really impressed.
    they did a beautiful job.

The Maris ceremony was really nice to witness, as well.

If I had to pick a disappointment,
i'd say no mariano and no enter sandman .
I realize theres a doiuble header tomorrow so its sensible.
