Cano makes no sense for the Royals, he is going to be close to a $20 mil player in a couple years. Montero, Joba, Brackman and one of their other top prospects is what I would imagine it would take.

Edit: That is just off the top of my head considering I read the Royals want a similar package to the Tex deal. Might not be enough and might be toomuch for the Yanks.

Edit 2: Just read the Yanks don't think Greinke is willing to pitch fo them.

Good news. Looks like they are getting closer with Jeter. Almost traded Cervelli for Martin yesterday. Now Martin is available. They both stink.

Yanks talking to Crawford. Don't see it happening unless they lose out on Lee. Probably just paying Boston back for their nonsense with Mo.

Yeah, if he comes cheap it can't hurt though with the Yanks catching situation. Another body in spring training can't be a bad thing.

so what exactly does that 4th year option entail?
does Derek or the Yankees have the advantage here ?

From what i understand, it's Derek's choice to come back for a fourth year, but if he does he will only make 8 million. But if he does good over the next 3 years, it would make more sense not to and become a free agent and we go through this all over again.

he also said that during the summer at some point. He's also violating the Yankee facial hair policy with that beard he was sporting at the Knick game tonight.

i thought that was only for the season. I wonder if he'll change his mind if Lee accepts that offer.

I'm sure it's an offseason thing with the beard.

    It's official:
The Boston Red Sox will sign free-agent outfielder Carl Crawford to a seven-year, $142 million contract, according to multiple reports.

The Boston Globe first reported the deal Thursday night.

Crawford was considered the top position player on the free-agency market this winter.
    http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/mlb/ne ... id=5901372

Ah well. Let's worry about getting Lee. Crawford won't do any damage against us if he strikes out!
