  • Surely the best PJ show that I've ever witnessed. My tenclub tickets were not that great.I'm honored to have been in the building though.I was in the 309 section. All my neighbors up there were having a great time.A lot of rules being broken all around me,but these were true Pearl Jam Halloween party goers no complainers.A few drunk idiots tried to move me and say I was in the wrong place, that was promptly straightened out.Special thanks to the girl who got my girlfriend out of the bathroom for me.She was having an asthma attack and was in the basement bathrooms,(dungeons),when the show was ending.I couldn't go check on her, since it was the female restroom.Anyway, thank you whoever you were!!!!I owe you one!

Almost a truly religious experience this week has been and I only say 'almost' so i don't offend my Maker. This band to come here and play such a special event 4 out of 5 nights is precious and I am very grateful out of all the acts in the world, we got PJ to shut down the Spectrum.

For all of those criticizing some of the fans for not keeping up with the band- maybe we are just getting old and the 4th night broke the camel's back? I don't know, just looking for an answer to some of the feedback about the crowd. From where I sat, things were rockin and almost everyone was rocking out, jumping up and down.

Out Of My Mind- thank you Pearl Jam. For 15 years, I have been wishing for this to be brought out somehow, someway, as a tag or something, anything...I'll take all....but we got it in Philly baby. I bought the darn Not For You single import just to get this 1 track back when it came out and taped it to listen to in my car before cd players were the norm in cars. Here we are 15 years later and I dont think the band or EV knows how cool and how precious this little song/improv is to the die hard fanbase and how special it was to be brought back to the mid-90's for that one moment in time.

What a week. What a band. What a life. Thank you Pearl Jam.

Oh man....loved the show, loved the scene, loved the costumes, love the people and growing to love the City of Philly.

I drove down solo from NH and wasn't sure what to expect and got my mind blown up! I drove back about an hour after the show with a grin on my face lighting my way. It was a 23 hour round trip ticket to Awesomeworld. And I got the poster to prove it....

    Some random thoughts:
I only know a couple Ten Clubbers and they are cool folks. Thanks to the few I met for being real.

Pearl Jam is the band that the martians (or visitors) when they come to invade may spare and actually keep us safe. Thank you, thank you. This band is so fan friendly and put so much into everything they do.

The Set list was amazing. This was the only show I made for PJ/2009 and thanks to my friend Gregger, an unbelievable show. All the new stuff sounded like they've been playing it for years. The old stuff was amazing again. Eddie and the boys sounded great. I was surprised at the pretty good sound of the Spectrum, but what do I know, being in New England, we've got dumps for sound (except the Garden, which is close to the old Garden sound)
I'm Open into I Got Shit is a personal fave. Out of My Mind sounded great, Life Wasted is a personal anthem for me, the strings were cool, Bugs was very very interesting and I'm so glad it got performed in style. SpinTBCircle and Porch. Good Lord.

Whip It was so unexpected and awesome. The 80's intruments, the whip and the robot dances were hysterical. The whole 2nd encore was amazing and RITFW with the confetti and balloons was super cool to witness, if/any DVD won't do it justice.

Thanks again Philly, I miss it already. Thanks again to my pal Gregger and to the band for everything.

I am all about various opinions but the people complaining about the fucking crowds this week are just delusional elitists who just need to get there heads checked or just stop going to every single freaking show since they will never live up there unrealistic expectations.

I respectfully disagree. I drove from NY to Philly 3 times this week (missed Friday night) and was blown away each time by Pearl Jam's performance. The crowd, however, left much to be desired. I thought the vibe from the audience on Wed. night was considerably better than Tues. night, and I saw a good number of people tonight rocking out (mostly in the hardcore 10C areas ... front of floor and low 200s close to the stage), but if they were tearing down a historic arena in my hometown and Pearl Jam flew in for the last homestand, I would be going nuts with all my friends and neighbors the entire time. That just wasn't the case here.

But way more importantly, tonight was a fantastic show. I thought the band made the right call dusting off some more rarities but also playing some of the crowd-pleasers they'd gone through over the last 3 nights. I thought "Insignificance" and "Lowlight" were real standouts, and seeing "Jeremy" with the string section was pretty sweet. "Speed of Sound" sounded much better/tighter tonight than it did on Wed. And they thankfully saved "Amongst the Waves" for tonight ... what a fantastic song! I feel like that and "Unthought, Unknown" are going to stand the test of time and end up in the regular live rotation, even though they didn't pop off the album as immediate singles.

Thank you Spectrum for hosting this memorable week. Thank you 10C fans for riding high amongst the waves. Thank you Pearl Jam for a fantastic set of shows. See you in the Spring ... (?)

It's too bad you missed Friday. The most involovement from the fans. 4 nights is tough for us fans. We can't be the best every night. :D

Philly dropped the ball on this one... never would have happened in NY or Boston.

Let them close Mellon Arena............. we'll show them.

    Damn straight.

Well said - c'mon back to the burgh. We're ready for yinz....
  • The man & I had an awesome time at the show no issues with anything except for one....

The couple next to us (SECTION 201) kept smoking pot throughout the concert. Have a little fucking consideration for the people around you. Some of us get drug tested at work, could be pregnant, have other health issues or just plain don't like it. And let's not forget to mention those of us who take our kids to enjoy the show.

Next time... you'll be escorted out by security. No more Mrs. Nice Gal. Enough's enough.

You almost ruined the show - and damn it - I have just as much a right to my good seats as you do. You wanna get fucked up than do it where it wont affect the rest of us.

That's all I have to say.

    Oh yeah -

thanks for an awesome show guys! Best one I've seen yet! And I'm not sure it can be topped!

Philly 4 was a great end to a great set of shows!

    Highlights for me:

"Unthought Known" -- played more slowly than they seem to have been playing it live, sounded much, much better (I'm still just crazy about this song)

''I Got Shit" -- One of my favorites; hearing it last night meant I got to hear all of my favorites this week, including "Push Me, Pull Me." :D

"Bugs" -- The look on Jeff's face during that song was priceless.

"Out of My Mind" -- It's a amazing how a song that Ed said is not even really a song could sound so good. Cool!

"Whip It" -- That was just awesome. :D I sent a link to one of the videos of this performance to a friend who is from Akron, and she loved it.

Since I have a high number (416 or 417,xxx, I think), I was a little worried that I would get seats in the 400 level. I'm afraid of heights, and it took me a while to adjust to the 11th row of the 300 level Friday night; there is no way I would have been able to go up to 400-level seats. So, I was thrilled to get seats in 310 row 4, thank you 10Club! My son and I sat next to a guy we met at the Tuesday show -- I was feeling pretty rough, so I did not even get the guy's name. (If you're reading this, speak up!) Once again, it was great to meet people who were cool to my ten-year-old. :)

Yes, I did sit for most of the second half of the show. I was fully loaded with cold medication, but after a night with no sleep following three PJ shows, I had no energy at all. My apologies to people who think I was not into the show. I was dancing and singing on the inside. On the other side of the arena, my husband was jumping and singing enough for both of us; he is even more hoarse today than I am. :) We are bedraggled and tired, but it was totally worth the effort to pull this off this week.
All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.
  • What an amazing show! The 41 songs...3.5 hours - WOW. Never thought I would hear Bugs or Sweet Lew live. The rarities made the night that much more special. RITFW with the confetti and balloons was just out of this world! Highlights for me were Smile, Crown of Thorns, Unthought Known and Low Light. Loved the band dressing up as Devo and singing Whip It. Gotta love that they have a sense of humor! I thought the song choices were great considering the occasion (Why Go, Last Exit, etc.).

I did have issues out on the concourse...the crowds were a bit overwhelming...it's hard for a short girl to get air in a crowd like that...had a mini panic attack but managed to push through. Felt a little low on energy this last show...got home and realized I had a 102 fever...got hit hard with the flu...but I am proud to say I rocked out throughout the entire show...didn't sit down once (although I did reel it in a bit during the slower songs). Had the time of my life! Wouldn't have missed it for the world :D

Some "fans" never cease to amaze me. What happened on Saturday Night at The Spectrum was legendary. The best band this planet has ever seen gave it everything they had and put on probably the greatest show I have ever seen (and I've seen well over 200) yet people are still bitching. "they played Bugs, Out of My Mind, Sweet Lew, and Whip It but so what, they still didn't play Evil Little Goat or 2000 Mile Blues so it wasn't really an epic show". Unbelievable that people are bitching about this setlist in any way.
"They didn't bring out any special guests so the show really wasn't all that special". I can only speak for myself, but I traveled 7 hours and paid to see Pearl jam, not Pearl Jam and Billy Joel or Dave Matthews or even Bruce Springsteen. If you want to see those bands...go see them. Would you rather hear a duet of Piano Man with Billy Joel (which would be so out of character for PJ anyway), or hear something like Crown of Thorns instead? Besides...Devo showed up and that was pretty special.
Lastly, to say the people up front were "out of it" or "zoned out" because we sat down and rested for a couple minutes during the encore breaks of a 3.5 hour show is ridiculous. It was hot, sweaty, and incredibly intense up front and most of us had been on our feet since the beginning of Bad Religion (while most of you complainers were probably still in the parking lot swilling light beer hoping for dumb shit like a special appearance by Bon Jovi).
People really need to appreciate what this band does for not only their fans but music in general and stop all the incessant whining. There, I've said my peace and will get off my soapbox. Thank you Ed, Mike, Stone, Jeff, Matt, Boom, Greg.G, Jay, Brian, Greg H., Brooks, the crew, the tenclub, the Spectrum, and (most of) the fans for a great show and an unforgettable weekend.

Sitting during the encore break (more like a set change anyway) wasn't so much the issue. Sitting down during Crown of Thorns and texting away? Screaming about getting more drinks during The End? Bitching incessantly during Bugs and Sweet Lew? Now that's just silly and absurd. In fact, it's downright rude. Doesn't this band who is playing for 3.5 hours deserve more respect than some of the people in attendance showed?

Questioning some people on this board's fandom for complaining about people who weren't into it and dragging down the atmosphere is perfectly legitimate in my opinion.

The show was fabulous and I appreciate the effort of the band. They put their all into the show (and then some). I wish everyone in the arena would have done the same. I know I did. Despite some of the morons in attendance, it still was a legendary show and I'm completely appreciative for what Pearl Jam did for me last night.

Now, I'll get off my soapbox.

I need to go back to TSIS. The people here make my head spin.

Hey those of us sipping beer in the parking lot were still standing!!! j/k

No it's cool to sit for a song or two, I sit during the breaks too, and even stopped jumping for a minute or two here and there. It's fine to rest. I don't want you to think I was bashing you at all. Everytime the lights lit up the floor, I would only see a few groups dancing. Actually, it looked like you were all standing, just not moving around. I dunno, it was an awesome show, I loved it. The crowd was GOOD but not GREAT!

  • hey, if PJ told you they were going to play a show just for you..... would you be complaining about the crowd?? Why the fuck does someone elses concert experience have anything to do with your own?? Can you not dance or rock out if the guy right next to you isn't?? Because if that's true, you may be gay. I gotta stop reading these things, because you make me forget what a fuckin amazing time I had last nite!!! Jeez.

I probably would complain about myself haha... I really don't appreciate the gay slurs either. The fact that they were sitting, complaining to me, continously looking up at my, hurt my experience. Plus they are taking up better seats then I had, so also impacted my experience.

Now I remember why I stopped posting on here so long ago, can't voice an opinion or concern without people bashing and calling names.

Yes, everyone who complained about people at the show must be "gay." What, are we 10 years old now?
  • It was cool to see most people and the band with cosutmes, including myself. :)
    This show was a Party.

    My Highlights:

Eddie coming out with boxing gloves and Jeff with a rabbit mask.
You Are - Favorite from Riot Act
Amongst the Waves - seeing the crowd sing loud during this one was nice.
Rats - So cool for the girl in the front row as per Eddie. He brought toy mice as props and put them on his microphone stand for a while and then he threw it to a fan. At the end of the song a girl came on stage dressed as a mouse. Eddie spinned her and had a little dance. This was so funny to watch.
I Got Shit - One of my favorites. Thank you guys for playing this one. LOVED IT!
Glorified G - My friends and I were having a conversation about the songs they might play that night...and how did we forget this little gem. Tisk Tisk on us.Hope someone recorded this.
Out of My Mind - cool to see for the first time
    Black and Insignificance -
Bugs - Eddie you did it good! Happy to hear something different on stage from the usual. The important thing is that Eddie didn't give up.
Whip It (Devo) - WOW! Loved the costumes. Funny too. Specially seeing Mike do the robbot move and Eddie using the whip, that was priceless!
Crown of Thorns - As always beautiful to see.
Sweet Lew - Jeff on the mic and dressed with a basketball jersey and Eddie on backup vocals and dribling a basketball during the song. Very interesting to see his b-ball skills.
    Smile - makes me :)

A memorable night indeed. Thank you Pearl Jam and the crowd for making it spectacular!

loved YL and SSB tag but was hoping for either an acoustic set or release/long road to open the show
very happy to hear sweet lew, i got shit, low light, and pilate for the first time in addition to hearing smile, you are, satans bed, crown of thorns, and rats for the 2nd time - and who will ever forget whip it in costume!!

i also regret not goin friday and hearing deep, tremor chirst, off he goes, footsteps, and untitled/mfc
loved and have all 4 posters in my collection, got the setlist on weds from an usher on the floor, sigg bottle, keychain, and 4-night spectrum tee

Great show!!! I never laughed so hard at a concert in my life as when the guys came out dressed like Devo & did "Whip IT". HILARIOUS shit!!! I'm STILL laughing. Incredible setlist. A really special night.
BTW, we drove 1700 miles in two days to catch the closer at the Spectrum & I'm sure as hell not complaining about anything Pearl Jam did or did not do. I enjoyed both Seattle shows more, but this was just flat out fun. Great show, guys!!!

i don't think the band disliked the crowd. i really think 'rockin in the free world' was supposed to be the last song, they had shot all the confetti off and dropped all the ballons and the stage was filled with balloons and the band was looking around for a few minutes then started yellow ledbetter

  • I posted this in another thread, but I couldn't care less if you sat down and texted on your phone the whole time. But if what you're doing distracts me from having a great time, you can go to hell. If you're telling me to sit down while 90 percent of the rest of the arena is standing or bitching about the quiet songs so I can barely hear Ed, then you need to get the hell out of the concert. Go see Creed.

    go see creed...good stuff :P
  • I agree that the crowd was the best on Friday night, and I LOVED ALL FOUR setlists (Friday and Saturday being the best).....but for the people saying that they were disappointed by Saturday's show......WHAT?!?!? P.S. I won the frickin LOTTERY the first night (Section 102, row 2)...but I STILL say that Friday and Saturday were the best shows.

the only thing that annoyed me was when we heard people behind us complain when just breath and the end was played haha. I mean cmon you don't like them shut up and sit through them or as ed said go take a piss. I had a great time stand, sit whatever just enjoy the show... and enjoy the show we did! Thanks Pearl Jam.

  • Best show of all-time. You'll never see a better rock n roll show. Some could argue they've seen one as good. But there's never been a better one played, by anyone, anywhere.

It was cool to see most people and the band with cosutmes, including myself.
