The World Series update girl was CLASSIC. Save You for Brad Lidge was kick ass. RAAUUUUUUULLLLL!!!!!!
  • My dad is a dentist and I've had nitrous in the office a bunch if times and it's not somethig to do while you're driving. At least I wouldn't drive without waiting a bit. Fucking funny stuff though. It must be a Philly thing haha.
  • Boy...the first half of this show was great, but the second half...oh, the second half...right around the first encore the show just got epic for me. I was amazed, astounded, impressed, floored...I've seen a lot of live music, seen Pearl Jam nearly a dozen times now, and this easily, by far, was the best concert I've ever been to ( feel almost traitorous saying that considering how astounded I was by 9/11/98). To try to put it to words, I've never seen a band play so well to the audience, nor the audience play so well to the band. What an cozy atmosphere, a great audience, excellent heavy tight music...the best!!

During 'Wishlist", when lyrics were fumbled, Eddie quickly covered with some made-up on the spot stuff, anyone catch what he sang?

I remember getting confused with him and I thought he just shrugged and said something like "I'm just singing" as to excuse himself. Was pretty cool :)

at one point, it seemed like he was trying to think of something to say about the phils, but couldn't think of anything. suddenly the progression was over so he just mumbled something like ''i wish they beat the yankees.''

    i think.

Gawd this was an AMAZING show. Eddie had a perpetual smile on his face (ooooh, I hope they do "Smile" on Friday!).

    Highlights:

Eddie and Mike doing "Ball and Chain" with Social D.

Mike and Jonny returning the favor with "Down" (My brain: holy crap they're playing "Down?" My conscious self: "Yes, yes they are!!!"). It's one of my favorite Mike McCready songs and I love that it was re-worked in some way in 2000 as "Distress" on The Rockfords' self-titled debut. Up until now, that's as much "Down" as I have gotten, to be there last night and hear the original live, was extraordinary.

I can do with less "Yankees suck" chants but I'm not a baseball fan though it was great to see Eddie get into the spirit of things by asking what the score was and then having a card girl come out with the score. I know he loves America's favorite past time, and it was just sweet to see him be so happy.

"Blood" we got this in LA 4 and it blew me away then and it blew me away now. Man, that song just rules.

The "Last Kiss" sing-along. It's arguably, my least favorite of their covers but there was something magical last night about the entire arena singing it for Eddie while the band played on. Very moving.

Mike McCready, the man is his own highlight.

The guys messing up on "Come Back" and then Ed saying, "We'll come back to it later only to segue into "No Way" you had to be there; it was priceless. He also said, "I don't think Bruce Springsteen makes this many mistakes" or something to that effect. Such grace, gotta love it.

After finishing "Yellow Ledbetter" Eddie turned and looked at Stone and he had this "I can't believe I just did that!" look on his face. Tired, he bent over and Stone, smiling back, patted Eddie on the back. Band of brothers they be. :)

The audience. Pearl Jam shows are amazing but really, it's the bonding that happens with the people in your section that also makes the shows extra special. To all the people on the floor in Stone's section, thank you! You fuckin rocked!!!

Can't wait for the last two! It's going to be awesome.

  • Although most of the fan reviews have been postive and should be as the two shows were great, I find it funny that a few people think the audience energy was weak. Of course the audience was chill during some of the sets, they're playing very rare songs that only the ten clubbers know. The band knows this and don't expect to have a sing along during rival or push me pull me. It's because the Philie crowds are so energetic and faithful that they have the confidence to play so many unknown songs and attempt this experiment.
    Get over here!

All that keeps coming to my mind is "BOXED SET"! These shows are going to go down in PJ history, for me,(and as much as I love, the Boxed Gorge boot), this would be WAY better to do up as a special edition.
I seriously cannot believe, that I have the PRIVILEGE, to get to see these shows! By the end, (after I recover), I know that I will look back, and SMILE ear to ear, knowing that my best friend and I, were a part of these incredible shows.
Fingers crossed for SWEET seating on the next two nights (lottery, lottery,lottery...maybe if I say it enough, I can, WILL it, to happen!).

Also, no matter which way you look at the set lists ....it's Pearl Jam....are there REALLY any truly, (seriously TRULY) shitty songs? NAAAA.... I can handle anything once or twice. The fantastic blessing here, is that since they are trying to play every song in their catalog, how many repeats can they afford to play?

Now the only BAD thing about this, is that since there are few to non repeats, exactly WHEN to take a potty break, is hard to calculate, (those DOWNSTAIRS bathrooms, with the slippery floors, friggin' SUCK)

As always,,big thanks to the BAND and to 10C for the hard work on this tour with the tickets, and the ease of it all....with every song, the Horrible Hartford show, ticket line, from last year becomes a distant memory.

Onward to Friday and Saturday,,for we can sleep next week!

Gosh where is my brain? You're absolutely right. It was the end of "YL" and am I right? Ed and Stone had a little bro-mantic moment there. ;)

But "porch" in and of itself was a highlight...that song effin rocks!

    hahahahahahahaha

I agree about the Nitrous. My buddy disappears and comes back with 2 humongous balloons. I was like 'those arent nitrous, are they'? I didnt believe him. He was doing his and mine slipped out of my hand and blew away to his horror. Everyone had these fuckers. I have never seen anything like it (as someone said).

First, I want to THANK, wholeheartedly, Ten Club for winning the lottery; front row in front of MIKE!!!!! :D I'm still reeling from the entire experience, truly one I'm forever grateful for. It's truly a once in a lifetime experience. :):)

Mike loves the crowd and was constantly paying attention to the fans, throwing pics very often and a lot of paying attention to those who didn't have a great view. I thought that was awesome. It's funny to see a few rows of people dive bomb the floor desperately wanting a pic. Knowing I wouldn't get one, I smiled at the people and smiled back at him. I thought it was great, and got to share a smile with him.

Highlights for me was Push Me Pull Me, NO WAY, Given to Fly (always sounds phenomenal), Blood, Grievance and The Real Me...the last one complete with a little Townsend foot action by Mike. I swear, if any song showcases both Mike and Jeff, it's definitely The Real Me. It was just awesome.

A mild complaint - the two guys next to me, towards center. Stood like statues the whole show. I guess I just can't understand how one could be in the front row and feel absolutely no energy to move with the music. You'd have to be fighting it, I swear, with everyone else around being so into it. It's just that intense!!

You are definately right, and you probably saw it A LOT closer than I did. ;)

OK Nitrous.... Philly people love their hippy crack. I like to engage in moderation as well. Its fun and I only do them at Pearl Jam concerts. Now I have to say something about drugs... Pearl Jam 1: dude sitting behind me nearly was falling into the people in front of him nodding out from Heroin or some kind of pill. Kinda gross. I guess Im a balloon huffing hypocrite though. :D
