tempted to give the infamous "that's what she said" response
seriously, we got a lot of snow and it was very wet and heavy, since most of the leaves were still on the trees, there was a lot of trees and big branches that came down. My neighborhood looks like a disaster area - every tree has a pile of fallen branches under it. Walking around on Saturday was dangerous, we could hear the branches snapping and falling. It makes it very difficult for the crew to even get to the power lines, they need to clear all the debris out first. It's worse than the damage we had from Hurricane Irene.0 -

I was in my camper in Vermont, at a tournament with the unlost dogs. We woke up Sunday morning to something like 18" of heavy, wet snow. The campsite doesn't have power hookups, so I had my generator with me (as did the other campers).
It was weird hoisting a ladder to the roof and removing all that snow.
They didn't lose power while we were there _ but the ride home down Route 2 back to Boston was interesting. So many trees down, and the lights were out at the lighted intersections.
I hope this isn't a taste of what's to come this winter.
Lots of discussion hereabouts regarding needing to bury utility wires underground. But it would cost something outrageous like $1 million per mile.15 years of sharks 06/30/08 (MA), 05/17/10 (Boston), 09/03/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/04/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/30/12 (Missoula), 07/19/13 (Wrigley), 10/15/13 (Worcester), 10/16/13 (Worcester), 10/25/13 (Hartford), 12/4/13 (Vancouver), 12/6/13 (Seattle), 6/26/14 (Berlin), 6/28/14 (Stockholm), 10/16/14 (Detroit)0 -

I guess unlost is glad to clean off 18" of snow rather than wake up in 18" of water inside of the camper...The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

I just got off the phone with a client who wanted me to add someone to his guestlist at his housing program. The client puts me on the phone with a woman so I can get the correct spelling of her name. He thought he had hung up, but didn't, so I go to hear the negotiation. I like her style. She doesn't haggle. She's making him pay. He is going to be very disappointed when he finds out it takes 24 hours to update his guestlist. ...Check days are always entertaining in my world.

with all the crappy weather, my son's soccer team has had a grand total of 2 practices and 1 game for October. Tonight's make up game that has been rescheduled twice had to be postponed yet again as the fields are still wet from the snow. So with the season ending 11/13 we now have 5 games in 7 days (barring any more weather)0

ouch!
we lost power for 2-3 days, tops during the hurricane and went insane!
my mom then bought me and my 2 sisters each our own generator.in fact, just got ours delivered the other day. mr. dream just needs to assemble and then we're prepared, good to go for future emergencies. you can then thank my mom for that purchase, b/c there will now no longer BE any of these kinds of emergencies...at least on LI.
Stay with me...

Basis of the Excise AssessmentThe motor vehicle excise is imposed for the privilege of registering a motor vehicle.
Registering a motor vehicle automatically triggers the assessment of the excise.
We are exceedingly privileged here in Massachusetts.

It's an annual tax, but typically is less and less as the vehicle's value declines each year.15 years of sharks 06/30/08 (MA), 05/17/10 (Boston), 09/03/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/04/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/30/12 (Missoula), 07/19/13 (Wrigley), 10/15/13 (Worcester), 10/16/13 (Worcester), 10/25/13 (Hartford), 12/4/13 (Vancouver), 12/6/13 (Seattle), 6/26/14 (Berlin), 6/28/14 (Stockholm), 10/16/14 (Detroit)0 -
