Cav is lying next to the kitty in the bedroom on the floor so that he can touch her face while she is falling asleep. They are both fucking adorable to behold. I have heart-shaped eyes right now ...

Chadwick, I saw the subject matter and was prepared to be upset. And I am. But this pic of Richard Branson, dressed as a flight attendant because he lost a bet, at the bottom of the bear story, made me feel a little better. If I have an excused absence, it no longer has to be approved by the dean of students. It goes directly through the professor. Saves us time and paperwork.

Of course. They're adults, they can do what they want. If they feel like they don't need to go to class, that's their business, for better or worse. Some professors have participation marks for tutorials (as opposed to lectures), and if you don't show up you don't get those marks, but that's it.

Want to know why we do it?

It's for kids that use financial aid and never show up to class.

Well if they don't pass they'll lose the aid anyhow... Anyway, I'm glad that's not how it works here! Half of my classes were a complete waste of my time. I could miss half of them (sometimes more like 90% of them!) and still get a good grade, so why waste my time? One course I took, I went to the first one and never showed up again. I just slid my assignments under the prof's door when they were due. And then I showed up to the final exam (where everyone looked at me like "who the fuck are you?". I got a B.

Oh... well, that was trickier. You could get in trouble for skipping too much. I was lucky in that my mom was a teacher and my dad a principal, so all the teachers and principals knew my parents and liked them and didn't want to embarrass them, so I could pretty much do what I wanted. I think I missed 100 classes in grade 12. :fp: .... Still got a scholarship though. I guess that's really it. If i'd been doing poorly, they would have cared. But since I was getting good grades, I guess they figured it didn't matter if I skipped class a lot.

Huh... I think you can miss 3 days at my high school before they didn't allow you to walk at graduation.

I dunno, I never had an unexcused absence in high school
