nobody owes anybody an explanation. the amount of entitlement (logical/eloquent/rational arguments for it)popping up around here since BS's release is sick.
we live in a society where we want things at the speed of sound and when it doesn't happen, people become unhappy. let it be and see what good things will come your way by doing so.
They promised they'd do their best to get it to us by the release date. They failed to keep their promise. Expecting someone to keep a promise isn't about "entitlement."
As far as I can tell, there is no excuse for the delay. But if there is a plausible explanation, all the Ten Club members who ordered it and are discovering theirs haven't even shipped days after the release are owed that explanation from Ten Club, as well as an apology.
Please tell me you realize that the Orange Vinyl giveaway is The Fixer Single and NOT Backspacer. And that you have to go to the local record store pictured to get it.
There's no doubt about it. Benjis raises a valid point here. No attempt was made to have these out in time. It raises a similar shit storm that the ten super deluxe did for europeans.
It doesn't affect me do much ad I preordered backspacer all over the place but those who buy it once, the sane ones, I really understand how this would piss them on.
The unique art will always get me no matter how long if takes although I saw it posted that the indie stores got the hardback version too which surprised me
I am a bit worried as I have still not even gotten an email telling me my copy of the vinyl has shipped.
I ordered mine back in July (whatever the first day to preorder was) - I see some folks got shipping notification... nothing at all here yet.
I'm in Australia and am used to waiting. I'm fairly certain a couple of xmas singles and issues of deep never made it at all. I just accept it for better or worse. I order the cd from the 10c to get the special packaging as a collector's item. I think I'll be back from my trip to the usa (October 17 return) before my cd arrives.
For avocado they allowed 10c members who had pre-purchased to download directly from this site on the day or release - this time however, that was not an option. I purchased a download from iTunes. Purchasing the same album twice may make great business for the band, but doesn't make the average fan too happy.
The above could all be solved by re-introducing downloads from the site for those who have pre-ordered. To me, it then makes no real difference when the cd arrives.
I guess at least, having purchased twice, I can download four concerts from the vault.

No, I didn't realize that. I was out of town w/o internet when I started getting these Twitter announcements on my cell - couldn't follow the link. Well that makes me feel slightly better. Thank you for pointing this out.
Doh!
I take back my gripe in part. But I still think the vinyl should have shipped long before today.
The kids of today should defend themselves against the Seventies Nineties.
Pearl Jam had vinyl sent to Targets nation wide. That has to be part of the delay. Something with the supply line. Why does everyone feel so entitled to shit? Making a vinyl release like this one takes a lot of time and money, shipping vinyl for example can be VERY expensive. Why don't you think about all those factors instead of
"Ten Club just really F'd this one up" "It's almost like they did it on purpose" "Yeah!"
How do any of you people claim to "know for a fact" that Ten Club "didn't try to get this out on time"? That's just ridiculous. Stop being ridiculous, not one of us knows how Ten Club / Pearl Jam handled the inner workings of distributing this release. Then to imply that it was done on purpose... I just have to laugh.
Maybe your vinyl went to the easy street sale instead? There was a whole bunch!
Aw, guys...don't feel so bad. I still have yet to receive an email confirmation for my vinyl PLUS we drove the 25 minutes to our nearest Target store on Sunday, all giddy to pick up the CD and t-shirt and lo and behold that particular Target did not receive their shipment. So at this point I got shit! Now I know I could break down and get the iTunes version but I prefer an actual CD and was willing the "settle" for the vinyl seeing it really should have been in on Monday, now the soonest it looks like I'll get anything is this weekend provided Target did get their shipment in, lord knows I won't be getting that vinyl anytime soon if I haven't even gotten the email yet
But hey at least I got Philly to count on right?? Or at least I hope my tickets are there when we get there  :?

I think if you went to Easy Street the day the album came out and had been advertised it would come out on that day, you'd be like "what do you mean? The sign right there says its out today?" That's all this OP was saying. A little explanation goes a long way. Especially if all you ordered was the vinyl and you don't want to pay for something twice.
Just went to the record store and saw the vinyl there and it's not at my home yet. That's not entitlement. I already "own" a copy of Backspacer 3 months ago. I just have a big fucking ?

Not sure why you are so confused, did you fall down and hit your head? I think the pre-order said. "We will do the best we can to get these to you by the release date"
I really feel the need to chime in here. I have been one of the biggest critics of these types of threads since they started. What brought me to this particular one, after being tired of this old subject? "let's discuss". The OP had the decency to type a well thought-out, concise, polite, and RESPECTFUL subject, wanting nothing more than an explanation. If only more threads were like this.
I'll be the first to admit, I was kindof a dick on one of those other threads, but realized the error of my ways and apologized. I still don't agree with the sentiment in those threads, but calling people names and telling them they have a sense of entitlement solves nothing. They just want to know what is driving them to buy from 10C next time around. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to know this information.
That being said, I could do without the threads that have "F**K YOU 10C! WHERE'S MY F**KING BACKSPACER?". That does nothing. And it just puts everyone on the defensive and starts arguments. I fell for it, but I won't again.
Now, sorry if you read all this looking for some insight into the problem, but I simply don't have one. I am also still waiting for my copy (CD), but I'm in Canada so I was expecting this very thing. I don't like it, but my experience told me to expect it.
I have no idea who may be at fault, but I really agree that an explanation is warranted.

The same thing the cd orders said, right?
If they explain what happened, and why some people are getting it ten days AFTER it is out in stores, then maybe I will order releases through them again. If not I will presume this is standard operating and will go to my record store.

Moving and producing a little book with a CD inside of it is not the same thing as moving and producing a vinyl of this quality. Why is that fact only not good enough for you. We all know that the only true way to guarantee day one on anything is to go down to the store on release day.
No one owes you an explanation of the "ins and outs" of vinyl distribution. And since when has Ten Club EVER given up details of anything so personal to their business to satisfy people on the message boards? They want everyone to have the album as soon as they can get it to you. Next album go to the store. Problem Solved.

Which is what I'll do, but you'd think the TenClub would want me to go through them.
I buy and ship vinyl all the time and it is not rocket science. In fact they make protective packaging just for vinyls. You take the vinyl and put it in the packaging (30 secs max), you fill out the address (30 secs) and then ship it and in 7-10 business days it arrives at the address sent.

Maybe just MAYBE there wasn't a problem with shipping on ten clubs end... MAYBE they got them late. I was told at Easy Street sale that they didn't get as many as planned.

True. It's like some people think Backspacer was the first vinyl record ever printed or shipped. Hilarious.
I've also ordered plenty of vinyl and never had this major of a delay. And yes SolarWorld, Ten Club does owe me and a lot of people an explanation for this fiasco. Since when are they beyond reproach, and why do you think they need you defending them from inquiry?

Just quoting because I'm fascinating by the slavish, almost compulsive defensiveness on behalf of Ten Club. If they have an excuse, why aren't they proffering it?
Maybe they didn't get enough. Maybe a vendor was to blame. If so, would it kill them to make a post here or send a mass email explaining the screw up? What you need to realize is the reason Ten Club is so high handed and arrogant about this shit is because fans like you continue to butt kiss and jump to their defense and make up excuses on their behalf no matter how they've wronged other fans. You're like the enabling spouse of an abuser. Pathetic.
