    I have to be honest.

I haven't been on the board for a while and hadn't seen the negative threads, but after
multiple listenings Johnny Guitar was the first song I hit the skip button on.

Still much to love on this album.

    Fucking awesome!

i can kill, coz in god i trust
  • this song is great! love it...yeah i dont get a lot of the hatred for the new album... kind of turning me off to the board the past few days reading everyone dissing it
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...
  • i find it strange too! loved it right from the first time i heard it!

  • This is in my top 4 of songs from Backspacer. I don't understand the hatred towards this song. It's fun and energetic...what's not to love? Ed's delivery is clever as hell!
    I'm a SPACERBACKER! WHO'S WITH ME????

I know it's already been sung...can't be said enough. Love is all you need, all you need is love.
  • i love when it gets to the part where eddie sings

Oh and I hide my disappointment
Cause for years I had been hoping
Oh yeh how I had been hoping
That when she came, she would come for me

the vocal approach is so damn catchy for me!

this song is great because its actually not about johnny guitar himself as much as its about some kid falling in love w one of the girls on his album cover...reminds me of the who's "pictures of lilly" just punked out

  • Oh man, Johnny Guitar is my second or third favorite song on the whole damn album - and I really like the album. I think there is a great sort of sense of humor to it as well. I can't wait to hear it live.

I'll hide my disappointment cause for years I have been hoping
That when she came she'd be coming just for me...
  • i love it. i fully expected to hate it, but now i want more PJ songs in the same vein.

i thought its a great song, and didn't think it was so off-the-wall that people would hate on it, like a lot of their other odd songs. not saying anyone is wrong to not like it, it just suprised me.

I like it because it's so left field for PJ. cos in the end we all want variety, who wants to hear a whole lot of the same!!

I love it because it is so left field for PJ, cos in the end who wants to hear a whole lot of the same?!? It show cases Eddie's sexy deep voice in a totally different way.

  • I thought it was odd when I first heard it, but after giving it a second listen..I LOVE it!! It's catchy as hell.
I can't wait to listen to the boot of tonights show to see how this song is live.

It's isn't terrible by any means, but on the bottom of my list for the album. Kind of like Big Wave on self titled.

Its a great song and also fantastic placement right before Just Breathe. The songs immature sexual longing for a fantasy woman bumps up hard against the musings of mortality that follow. Physical to spiritual. The urban feel of Johnny Guitar changes to a rural country setting, its these sorts of jolts and surprises that I really like about the album.
