    This song is in my top three from Backspacer. I've always been a big Def Leppard fan (especially early Def Leppard music) and this song sounds just like a tune that you would have heard off of High 'N Dry (DL's second album). I know that a couple of the guys were huge Def Leppard fans growing up.

    I didn't care for it too much the first couple of listens, but it started growing on me. Then I saw it preformed last night, and I LOVE it live!

    I really did not like it at first glance but I gave it another chance. Not my favorite on the album but certainly not skipping it. Speed of Sound is going down to the only skipper on the album. The rest of it is golden.

    I don't get that at all - Johnny Guitar is def in my top 3 faves on this album. You know what, ALL of Backspacer is AMAZING. The more I listen to it, the more I can't stop listening to it, if that makes any sense!

    I know what you mean. People need to listen to albums 3 or 4 times before posting reviews, I think. I' ve often come across albums/songs that don't strike me at first, but after several listens, they turn out to be absolute gems.

    Listen to the album a few more times, learn all the nuances/undertones of each song, then come back and write a review.

    Well said, Mamasan. I actually posted something over the weekend saying I was unimpressed with Backspacer, but I couldn't disagree with myself more now.

    The last song I heard on my drive in this morning was Johnny Guitar and all I keep hearing is: "I'll hide my disappointment cause for years I have been hoping that when she came she'd be coming just for me..."

    I don't see much hate for it, to be honest with you. It seems to be a universally loved song, as it well should. There's only a few stragglers who can't get their heads around anything Matt writes.

    and i find in a few tunes on the album with some GREAT lyrics, mixed into some not so great lyrics, and what can i say? i am accustomed to damn fine, amazing lyrics, consistently, from ev. there are a couple of tunes that i am not fond of the delivery/phrasing and yet still possess some amazing lyrics...and then also a few lines that make me cringe. it's definitely different, and a very different reaction for me. there are most definitely quite a few pj songs i don't care for, but i outright don't care for em. backspacer challenges me a lot, in that i may really like the music, but get stuck on some lyrics...or some phrasings......so there is really nothing i outright 'dislike'...but it makes it disjointed, for me.


    and in all fairness, there are a few outright GEMS, just perfect.......

    My least fav song on the album, possibly a worse song than Sweet Lew. The vocals and lyrics are so bad.
