no Americans believe we were the one country responsible for defeating the Nazis. none.

WHAT??? Seriously???? I have heard that belief be passionately defended and repeated tons of times,.... I heard it as early as grade school, and all through college and continuously by republican politicians and supporters. "If it wasnt for the US, you'd be speaking German right now" I bet the vast majority of Americans cannot name the allied forces in WW2....and if you asked them what side Russia was on, you would be shocked. LET ALONE how Germany was defeated.....

  • We never got to WW2 in grade school... The school year always ended before then. In highschool it was briefly mentioned. From what I remember, I was told that the US basically won the war for the allies because of its manufacturing abilities. Without it, Britian and Japan would be speaking Russian right now. (Not German)

in other news, jlew has the power to know what 300,000,000+ people don't believe.

yup I do. Americans have always been taught that WWII was won by America and its Allies. the ignorant asinine assertion was Americans believe we are the "one country" responsible for Nazi defeat. no Americans believe that because its common knowledge that it was, you know, a WORLD war. there will always tbe human scum who believe America had little role in the outcome I suppose. and piss on the graves of all the brave souls who died.

if america wasnt invloved... what do you think would have happened?

germany was having her way with europe... Hitler's insanity lead him into Russia, and the Russian winter, which was the fatal blow... but if not for america's intervention, there is no doubt the outcome could have been drastically different

Did you read the original article at the top of this thread?

You think Germany lost the war because of the Russian winter? Funny then that we don't all celebrate V.E day by building snowmen. :?

    In response to more bullshit:

    Pacific War

    Major Allied Combatants

    Republic of China
    United States
    Philipine Commonwealth
    United Kingdom
    British India
    Australia
    Netherlands
    Dutch East Indies
    New Zealand
    Canada
    Soviet Union

    Allied offensives in Burma, 1944–45

The British launched a series of offensive operations back into Burma during late 1944 and the first half of 1945...

While the Japanese were distracted by events at Meiktila, XXXIII Corps had renewed its attack on Mandalay. It fell to Indian 19th Division on March 20, though the Japanese held the former citadel of Fort Dufferin for another week.

On May 1, a Gurkha parachute battalion was dropped on Elephant Point, which cleared Japanese rearguards from the mouth of the Rangoon River. The Indian 26th Infantry Division landed the next day and took over Rangoon, which had seen an orgy of looting and lawlessness similar to the last days of the British in the city in 1942. Following the capture of Rangoon, there were still Japanese forces to take care of in Burma, but it was largely a mopping up operation.'

    Liberation of Borneo

'The Borneo Campaign of 1945 was the last major campaign in the South West Pacific Area. In a series of amphibious assaults between May 1 and July 21, the Australian I Corps, under General Leslie Morshead, attacked Japanese forces occupying the island...'

Atomic bomb and the Soviet invasion

'On February 3 1945, the Soviet Union agreed with Roosevelt to enter the Pacific conflict. It promised to act 90 days after the war ended in Europe and did so exactly on schedule on August 9, by invading Manchuria. A battle-hardened, one million-strong Soviet force, transferred from Europe attacked Japanese forces in Manchuria and quickly defeated the Japanese Kantōgun (Kwantung Army group)'

you are such a troll jlew.

i've never seen byrnzies posts as 'hating america'. i agree with some of the things he has to say. that doesn't make me a hater.

personally i think there's lots to love about America, but that doesn't mean i can't be ashamed of their actions sometimes. i don't understand why you feel like you do, that when anyone speaks out about some injustice or wrong that they feel has been committed by the government, they are accused of hating America. Patriotism has never been blind allegiance to people or policy. Patriotism is loyalty to an ideal - to principle. So if i feel that an injustice has been committed, or our ideals or principles have been betrayed, i can't help but to speak out in defense of them. I speak out to preserve what I feel is great. I speak out because of what I love about this country, not out of hate.

are you new here? first of all Byzine isn't American. second of all, nearly ALL of his posts and threads are negative about America. his blatant Anti-American bias is obvious and he'll even admit it.

there is a big difference between loving your country and wanted to right its wrongs. which is something you or I might do. what he does is completely different.

O.k, your persistent baiting of me has worked. I'm biting.

The M.T is a political section of the board. It's a place to discuss politics. Much of American politics and foreign policy is ugly. Why the fuck should I or anyone else sing it's praises?

Secondly, I regard the term Anti-American as an absurdity, as I've pointed out before. Only morons use this term, as it's simply a way of deflecting any and all criticism.

Anyone who wants to know what I think about America can look at ALL of my posts across the message board - not just my posts about America on the M.T as they relate to politics.

And as far as admitting that I hate America, when are you going to admit that you tortured a kitten and then cooked it in a microwave oven?

I've never admitted to hating America, and I never will..because the very idea of hating America, or any other country, is ridiculous.

Anyway, keep trolling away Jlew, I can see that you're making many new friends here in the process.

well you aren't American, so you have limited knowledge of American politics short of whatever wiki links and far left wing websites China allows you to read.

and as far as American foreign policy, you like to think it starts and ends with our policy towards Iraq, Afghanistan, and Israel. anything and everything else related to our foreign policy is non existent.

its very convenient to just completely disregard a term because you don't like it

sorry you're right. you do post alot of Israeli/Palestinian porn. but that always gets turned back to somehow being America's fault for supporting Israel

jlew, what's with the 'porn' comment?

i know the palestinian people are being completely fucked, but it's hardly porn.

If you consider Byrnzie posting about ordinary Palestinian people, who have first suffered the indignity of having their land stolen from them, then endured 60 years of appalling conditions within Palestine or exile outside it, and sixty years of physical and psychological violence and oppression as being porn, then maybe you need to re think what gets you off.

i don't know, but maybe being a complete jerk to everyone that disagrees with you might qualify as porn. some people seem to get off on that around here.

jlew, you are so terrible at debating. obviously i know you're mostly not trying to debate but just start some shit and you think it's hilarious that we keep "falling for" your bait, but seriously you really just completely blow at arguing. you always make stupid assumptions like "no americans believe [something]" or like in the above quote "you like to think [something]" when in reality you don't know what anyone's thinking. not to mention the fact that if any of us dared to say something like that to you you go crazy because we're putting words in your mouth.

anyway your above quote makes perfect sense because the fact that america supports disgusting regimes like those of egypt and saudi arabia does not fall into the category of bad foreign policy. the fact that america tries to isolate anyone who does not do exactly what they want like cuba, venezuela, the palestinian groups, etc, is not bad foreign policy. the fact that america finds it convenient to support oppressed people like those in taiwan when they think it's politically convenient and chooses to ignore those oppressed in places in darfur or palestine when they don't is not bad foreign policy.

do you think before you type or is it more like takin a shit for you?

you feel like quite the badass what you get to freely talk shit don't you? message boards are you little outlet to act like a tough guy. cuz in real life you are 5'7 140 pds right? tough so.

    moving on...

America's foreign policy is highly flawed and never will be perfect. but what is never mentioned, is all the good we do in helping so many nations of the world. its just sad how most on the board like you and bzyine, never have anything good to say..becuase in your eyes, America can do not right....only until we fully support Hamas will you finally change your tune.
