So...looks like I may actually have the chance to see a movie (and of my own choosing) this Friday evening. Should I go with this movie, or just go have a good time with something like Zombieland?

zombieland. it looks awesome. even when i agree with moore (and i agree there is plenty to criticize with our current capitalist system), his movies kinda suck.

...which is why we created laws and enforcements of them in the first place. The alternative to the "what can you do" approach, is to ensure either that 1) Noone can take anything without anyone noticing or 2) You build a norm structure and establish morals in the group that prevents them from exploiting such loopholes. Historically, we have used both, most often simultaneously.

There is a lot to be said for "community spirit" which is often overlooked in an overly individualistic perspective.

    Peace
    Dan

what the heck happened to my post!?

anyhoo - basically, the system is genius for the people exploiting it ... you have the less gov't group pitted against the more gov't ... and they both point to the same entity as the crux of the problem (gov't) just for different reasons ...

they've manipulated the system so that although outwardly it would appear no one can do the things you mentioned - the reality is they can ...

I'd imagine Zombieland's probably more suited to you.

Hahaha...that's a great post. Seems so innocent, yet underneath it could be quite the slam.

I just can't decide if I want to pay money to try and wade through MM's BS to try and see the point of the movie.

You should save it somehow. Either with a screen shot, which you can then print and enlarge, or maybe just copy the url and e-mail it to yourself for posterity. :D

I like Moore's documentaries. they are always entertaining. I particularly like Roger and Me. I think he would gain much more credibility if he would stop with the ambushing though.

just watched this last night, pretty good flick. i can't believe companies take life insurance policies on employees, like that one guy that died and his company made over $5 million off his death!

lots of good info on wall street and goldman sachs and the banks.

oh, and the part about the privately owned, for profit juvenile hall that was bribing a judge to send kids there and then without consulting a lawyer or the judge would often times keep them for months longer than sentenced because they decided they weren't ready to be released yet...!!!

and the merryil lunch exec telling reagan he had to hurry up with his speech would be funny if his reign wasn't one of the worst in history of mankind

Why don't you ask the same of anybody else? Do you ask Pearl Jam to perform for you for free and just give you their albums and t-shirts?

And besides, since when does criticizing the system of Capitalism constitute wanting everything to be free?
That is the problem..Everyone wants to be handed shit for free without having to work themselves for it..Share the wealth? fuck you, go earn your own...sorry, I am just sick of society and their wants wants wants...hands wide open...take take take..

I can say for a FACT, this is happening in our country..if anyone wants my personal details about this, I would be more than happy to share. I even contacted the ACLU for help. This part of the film really made me angry to see its not just happening in the state I was living in..sick fucks..

You people get so winded up over hypocrites. Michael Moore makes millions because of capitalism and then makes a movie about how terrible it is. He's a fucking idiot!

So are you saying that anyone who has money in the bank has no right to criticize, and draw attention to, anything?

By the way, did you watch the movie? Do you have anything to say about the movie?

Of course he didn't watch it. It was made by Michael Moore and Mike is socialist scum.....so there couldn't possibly be anything in it worth watching. Why would anyone want another point of veiw? They get all they need from Fox.

I will watch it when it comes out on DVD. I would never pay crazy movie money to go see it. I don't see banks making documentaries about how crappy our system is. Moore has made a very rich and comfortable life and he should be thankful for capitalism because otherwise he never would have gotten away with this movie and made millions from it. He's an idiot!

Funny how the Right wingers have nothing to say about the movie but instead focus on criticizing Michael Moore. I wonder why that is?

Didn't he receive the same kind of vitriol in threads made here about his movie 'Sicko'? Funny how 'Sicko' was actually spot-on, and may well have been a factor in opening peoples eyes to the problem which eventually led to the recent reforms.
