i thought iowa was in deep shit after that opening bomb
i liked how the coach answered the post game interview question about what he thought.
"crap"
Yeah, that first play made the Hawkeye bar I was watching the game at pretty quiet.
You know...and I have nothing to back this up...but it seems like the team that has a huge play like that (first play bomb, running the opening kickoff back, etc.) ends up losing. Can't tell how many times I've seen that over the last 5 years or so...College or NFL.
WTF was that timeout taken by Purdue???

Ohio State's done it twice...Ted Ginn ran back the opening kickoff in the national championship against florida and then got hurt and the team went on to get smoked. Then the next year, Wells broke loose for a big 60 yard td run... shortly thereafter they were down 2 TD's and stayed that way.

Brutal, both games. And then toss in the Hester TD to open the Superbowl that same year. I remember saying to myself, great, but this could be trouble. yup, sure enough, Bears go on to lose. moral of the story, fall down at the 1/2 yard line and let hte Offense come out and punch the ball in.
I'm torn this week. Of course I want to root for Oklahoma (unless they are playing Texas or Texas Tech), but my homie Jacory is playing them. Usually, I'd never root for a Florida team, but I love watching Jacory. They called him "Skinny Testeverdae" the other day, lol. I think I have to go with Jacory and the U.
Big win by my Tigers tonight. At the beginning of the year if you told me Auburn would be 5-0 I would have laughed you out of the building. Thank goodness for Gus Malzahns offense. They look way better in the spread this year although I still hate it. Side note: Crompton is horrible. Hardesty is all alone on UT offense. When he did hit wideouts in the hands they dropped them. War Eagle!

only caught the end of it. Tate was beat up at the end. he looked like he was done. he's got the smallest arms i've ever seen on a QB. looks like he should be a kicker
You almost nailed this one. I'm pleased that we played probably our worst game and still won 38-20. We need to hammer Ole Miss this weekend. Roll Tide.

Roll Tide!!!!!!!!!!!
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
Let's see if I can do any better than my picks from last week.
October 10th college football:
LSU 19, Florida 16: LSU does whatever it takes to win games so far this season; it hasn't always been pretty, but a "Win" is all that matters in the end. Florida (with or without Tebow) is due for their annual loss to a team from the SEC West.
Ole Miss 27, Alabama 17: I'm sticking with this pick because before the season began, I felt like the Rebels would beat the Tide in this matchup. Alabama has been more battle-tested than Ole Miss up to this point in the season, but Houston Nutt will have his players jacked up for this game. After four previous close losses to Bama, the Rebs are ready to turn the tide.
Arkansas 34, Auburn 31: This could be a very high scoring game since both teams have wide open offenses. The early start in this game (11:00 central time) might favor Auburn. Arkansas will have a little too much for the Tigers at home and Chizik will suffer his first loss at the helm.
Georgia 23, Tennessee 20: If Tennessee can't pull this one out at home then the Vols are staring right at a 4-8 or 3-9 type of season. UGA will rebound after last week's heartbreaking loss to LSU and find a way to win this one of the road.
Mississippi State 36, Houston 30: Dan Mullen's bunch are due for a quality win and the Houston Cougars present a golden opportunity when they travel to Starkville this weekend. UTEP surprised the Coogs last Saturday night out in El Paso and I feel like Miss State can do the same in Starkvegas.
Georgia Tech 26, Florida State 14: Things are very bad in Tallahassee right now and with all of the distractions surrounding the status of Bobby Bowden, the Rambling Wreck should take care of business.
Oregon State 37, Stanford 36: Just when Stanford seems to be on a roll, they have to travel to Beaver country to take on a team that's always tough at home. This could be a shootout in Corvallis and I like the home team to come out on top.
Michigan State 24, Illinois 17: This could be one of those "trap" games for Sparty. In having said that, I like the Big Green from East Lansing to survive a scare to the Tribe, but it certainly won't be easy.
Oregon 41, UCLA 24: The Ducks have been flying high as of late and the trend will continue against the Pasadena Honey Hounds on Saturday. I have a hard time envisioning UCLA keeping this one too close.
Ohio State 28, Wisconsin 21: This is one of the most overlooked matchups of the weekend. Folks should keep their eyes on C-Bus because we could have an old fashioned Big Ten slobberknocker in store. I like the Bucks to previal, but it will come down to the fourth quarter and a big effort by the defense.
Iowa 27, Michigan 10: This score might be way off base, however, I think the Hawkeyes will come ready to make a big statement after their uninspired effort last Saturday against Arkansas State. Michigan is capable of winning this one, but I think last week's loss to Michigan State has the Big Blue reeling. Can Rich Rod work a little magic?

that's pretty comprehensive! i follow the big ten pretty close, but don't get to see many of the other conferences as much as i'd like. i pretty much agree with your picks though. i think iowa-michigan will be closer, but iowa is going to come out on top. they look like they're rolling and being at home at night with a michigan team that is finally coming back down to earth a bit... they're going to stick when it counts. michigan state-illinois might be even more one-sided. illinois has no defense and msu (loss to central mich aside) is a much better team than they get credit for. basically, they are 2-3 plays away from having michigan's record... just as michigan got a few late game miracles to get their record, msu had those go against them (esp the nd game). they're riding high after um and illinois is reeling and they might really unload on those guys.
osu-wisc should be a helluva game. wisconsin always plays them fierce and the weather's going to be shit in cbus so it'll be a nasty, muddy big ten slugfest. i'm a bit nervous. osu's offense is so inconsistent. but i think their defense will really slow down wisconsin, whose had pretty easy going so far. the question is which terrelle pryor shows up this week. given the rain, he won't have to feel much pass pressure, but he has shown he can lose the ball just as easy with his hands... will it be the TP that engineered the late victory against the badgers last season, or the one that bungled their great drive to lose to psu the week after? do we see ut-illinois-indiana pryor, or the usc pryor? the good news is with sayne stepping up, there's less pressure on him, so i think osu can pull it out. may not be pretty though!

If Tebow is out, LSU wins, other wise i should be a good game.
Ohio State is favored by 16 vs. WI. It should be a lot closer than that.
Michigan has no defense and Iowa could very well pound Tate into the groud. Michigan will have to rely on the offense to keep them in the game. I see Iowa winning this one.

Wisconsin really hasn't played anyone this year. I'm interested now that they actually play a decent team how they will match up. Tolzien has been great so far, so it will be interesting to see how he does against this D. I do think the Badgers could pull the upset and obviously hope they do.

they've been on the powder puff schedule.
now the buckeyes haven't played much of anyone yet either, USC the exception, but that D looks as good as ever. i was worried about it going into teh season, but they are tearing it up so far. the front 4 have stood out to me. lots of pressure without alot of blitzs. that is a good thing.
we shall see in a few hours. OSU WI is always a fun game
