I just want to say, standing at the back for the encores I could see the whole crowd and everyone around me in the tiers was going nuts for all the songs.2006: London Astoria, Lisbon I & II, Paris, Verona, Milano2007: Wembley, Dusseldorf, Copenhagen, Nijmegen2009: Manchester2010: Belfast, Berlin2012: Manchester I & II2014: Leeds, Milton Keynes2018: Amsterdam I, Prague, Krakow, Berlin, Barcelona, London

Cracking set list and performance. My first time seeing them and I feel lucky for doing so. What was the beautiful piano piece that preceded their entrance? Got my hairs on end and they never went down through the entire show. So hot in there though and some poor girl behind me passed out as they played Black. I hope she still managed to hear it through her faint.0

IMO both shows were amazing in their own rights. SBE for the atmosphere, the intimacy and the special guests. Manchester for the setlist, the audience and the fact that my mate has been waiting for 20 years to see them and it was his first show :O) it was my 3rd so until now it was always a sore point.
Those photos are absolutely amazing. I presume you had a photo pass to get those shots!
Thanks. Unfortunately I didn't have a pass for this gig - I would have given my right arm for one though. Just managed to get close and pick my shots.0 -
Crowd seemed OK from where we were seated (102), apart from the dickhead with the mohawk who spent the night crowd surfing. Maybe watch the fucking band next time, son.
It was warm in the MEN (probably the hottest I've known it to be). To avoid the crowd-crush, they should have done what they did in Dusseldorf (and other gigs) and have a barrier on the floor to split it in two. I know hindsight is a wonderful thing...

Yeah, Rotterdam and Berlin were like that this year, not the 2 English shows (SBE obviously doesn't need that).Eraserhead wrote:Crowd seemed OK from where we were seated (102), apart from the dickhead with the mohawk who spent the night crowd surfing. Maybe watch the fucking band next time, son.

I reckon the intro was the same as in Rotterdam, which was a piece by Philip Glass called "Metamorphosis Two"Dream the dreams of other men,...You´ll be no ones rival,...

Well guess I ended up in a great spot for Manchester 'cause I had an amazing night. I can't pick between Manchester or the O2 for my favourite show
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?0 -
I stood in front of Mike, which was away from the Mohawk-kid, so I had a great show as well. 1st show, and when your favourite PJ song is Leash and vs is your favourite album, it was a spectacular night. My top five wishes for the gig beforehand was Leash, Wash, Indifference, Go and In Hiding. No joke. Sorry that your night wasn't as good as previous nights Hinn, guys like that should be kicked straight out!Manchester & London 2009

That black swan poster for Manchester is awesome, glad I was able to get one, can't wait to get it back from the frame shop.0 -

Housing Jim wrote:Jennytree wrote:The Manchester show was the least favourite of the 4 I went to. The crowd were attrocious. It may have been rough in the middle, but I was standing 1/4 to 1/3 of the way back on Mikes side and there was no audience participation - not even a bit of movement when Even Flow played. I've never been so disappointed by a crowd (again, this is only where I was!) :x I'll be hard pushed to ever go to Manchester again. :!:
Aside from London in 2007, I've never known a Pearl Jam show where the standing crowd was heavily into the show so far back. It was the same in Dublin in 2006. The crowd were awful that night....most of them just seemed like pissed up idiots who had come purely to see the band play Alive. At least the Manchester crowd were all on their feet!! 8-)
But I actually wasn't "that far back". I was near the front, only maybe 20 or so rows? back. The crowd weren't even moving for Alive or Even Flow. Maybe it was just those that were on Mikes side, cos there seemed to be movement on Stones side (for once!)0 -
I was Mike's side in Manchester and I confirm - there was no movement.
Not because we didn't want to move, oh no, it is because everyone in the room wanted to move and wanted to move to Mike's side - and there was no space left for a molecule of oxygen let alone a finger!
I was squeezed to the rails the whole night, even during Present Tense, pretty much gave up on the notion of waving to Even Flow because my blood flow was cut off to my arms.
Had an awesome time anyway. Jeff is king. :PI desire peace where I live

The only negative thing I will say about Manchester is that, to me at least, the crowd seemed really hostile. People (mainly GA, I have to admit) were rude, forceful and determined to get down the front regardless of who they trod on. I've seen PJ at festivals and their own shows and this was by far my least favourite crowd. I have to say that it did put a bit of a damper on the evening for me.
Okay....you're talking bollocks.
I was sat about two seats away from you, and I know because you were hanging that flag off the railings in front. Everyone around you was into it so you must have had your eyes shut or something!!A democracy on paper, apparently well ordered, regularly subverted by irrational chaos.

Perhaps. But when people just start making stuff up to bad mouth a show that some folk actually enjoyed, it gets a bit annoying.A democracy on paper, apparently well ordered, regularly subverted by irrational chaos.

too right, there is a serious amount of bollocks as far as I'm concerned in this thread.
but each to their own.
For me this show was awesome, the crowd was good (although strangely i dont to go to a PJ show to watch the god damn crowd) and i thought the set was perfect (until i saw what Chicago got
)
Manchester rocked. If you didnt get that, I'm sorry. My favourite show I ever saw them play0
