Lou Reed has had a successful liver transplant.
He had his procedure in Cleveland OH, after calling hospitals in NYC dysfunctional.

Honestly, my head is still sorting out this change to the donor setup, but hopefully it spurs more people to consider - and act upon - becoming a donor.0 -

Yes she is, the poor thing. But if this is successful, she has a chance to lead a decent life. It may not be as long as most people hope for, but she still deserves to live beyond 10 years old.
The reality of organ donation is that for the most part, someone else has to die in order for someone to live. Not always, but most times. So it's a bittersweet situation.Don't come closer or I'll have to go0 -

Not too long ago in recent memory,a typical standard Friday for me would involve me working a full
6am - 2 pm workshift in the hospital , and then Across the building , from 230-6pm ,
I would be anchored to a hemo-dialysis machine.Watching blood go in,
watching blood come out , for 3 and a half hours every Monday , Wednesday, & Friday .
It is not that far removed from my memory and thoughts ,
that all this has changed because of an amazing man and friend I've been blessed to have in my life.
It is because of him that I live a " normal " as possible life again , ( and that I am able to go and see my favorite band in the entire world )
& after being knocked down again and again, he single-handedly lifted me up and out of my duldrums.
There are no words I can express to articulate my gratification and love for this selfless man.
So this Pearl Jam show tonight,
you will be with me in thought as well as in my gut.
And in reality you are now always with me.
Thank you Kevin Lynch , my kidney brother.

I think I posted somewhere within these eleven pages that my brother-in-law (recipient) went through the same with a co-worker. Whether or not I did, reading through the first and last pages, what a smile.
Congratulations! May you keep healthy and happy and that smile plastered much as you can.
The gifts we not only are able but DO give - just stupendous.0 -
