Philly Halloween Show Update

Closed October 30, 2009

The building will be closed and demolished following a two-night concert with Pearl Jam on October 28th and 30th, 2009; afterwards, the arena will be razed to make way for a new hotel in conjunction with the Philly Live! complex.

Not sure if this got updated, but these 1 added or 2 added show's is putting alot of stress for many who are trying to book stuff early. That don't wait for the last sec.

That is the only thing that gives me hope here. You'd think that if it was 100% not happening that they would tell us that ... maybe?

no, it wasnt. the dates were leaked well before any tour announcement by people with Spectrum connections, and Philly was included. phillymag.com then posted the dates prematurely and they were 28, 30 and 31. so the rumor has plenty of backing, it's not just delusion. and regardless of the circumstances surrounding the rumor, 10C knows that it is being discussed to death here, and it would be nice if they would just say:

A) Pearl Jam will not be playing in Philadelphia on 10/31
We're working on it and will keep you posted
C) Book your tickets, 10/31 is a go.

doesnt seem too difficult, but they choose to stick by their "nothing can be confirmed at this time."

I would never trust wiki as a reliable source for any info.

Agree. This is not your normal size rumor. Closing on 25,000 views in a little more than 2 weeks supports the high visibility of this potential show and hopefully we can get an answer that will put an end to this thread.

Nevertheless, what happened to the people who said they had connections with the Spectrum, a sister that worked there, etc. Has Matt Cord made any mention lately?

I also spoke with somebody at the Spectrum this morning who said the show is a lock. Just waiting for the OK to release tix.

i.e. rumor that fours shows were planned
all that told us was that they had a bunch of dates blocked for PJ, the leap of faith was that there would be shows on all of those dates

plenty of time for it to be announced, and PJ has done this before

after the big bold and free thing, I am sure the 10c is going to take its sweet time announcing anything

I hear you but i consider anything that is not from 10C a rumor and at this point that is all we have a mystery rumor ..

I agree... my money would be on the 31st (as stated above)... but until I hear it from this site, I'm holding off on plans....

Yeah, that's not what I meant. Just trying to convey it's a stronger than normal rumor due to the calls to the Spectrum, and other discussions that have been mentioned. Look at the thread about the Portland show. The OP started it 2 days later than this thread, and has 22,000 less views. Of course, location has a lot to do with it (as does it closing down a building), but also because this just has more credence than most other rumors due to what has been told to other people. Don't remember the discussion about the 2008 VFC because the 04 VFC tour did nothing in the polls, so it didn't make sense to me that there would be another tour.

I heared that the employees and contractors of the spectrum are scheduled to have their last day the 31st. meaning that a concert on the 30th would be cleaned up on the 31st. If there was an added date, more likely to be the 29th rather than the 31st

I mean we obviously dont know whats gonna happen... but i dont think they would add the 29th... i dont remember the last time the band played 3 straight nights...
