i think we ALL are WELL aware of all the what-ifs....and yet, we choose to remain hopeful. there is 'being a voice of reason' and then there is shooting down every possible positive comment.
Im not shooting down evey positive comment
just saying 2 things: that the announcement may not happen until the first show sells out and that people seem to forget that the 10c is not in the habit if giving us information-exactly the opposite actually
tis all, and why would what I say affect what you want to believe?
C'est la vie.
And I will say it again, i hope the show happens, hell, I hope they add more then one.

the first show IS sold out. once the house sells a certain %, it's considered a sell out in the eyes of the promoter.

i simply find it curious that you do so is all....just passing the time here my friend. if i didn't have a vested interest in a show, i doubt i'd spend too much time discussing it....but of course, that's just me. and nothing you say affects what i believe or desire....just like i can't imagine "as long as i am not in denial we're cool" is truly serious either......
and i do not think for one moment that either of your two comments above, is 'news' to any of us, even if you repeat it more than once ....so i guess i missed the purpose of being the voice of reason is all. we're a bunch of adults on a rock band's message board...awaiting possible news of another show....i don't think much 'reason' plays into any of it.
...just passing the time here my friend.....just like i can't imagine "as long as i am not in denial we're cool" is truly serious either......
same and not at all serious :P
of course...just go and try and steal someone else's sunshine to pass your time ..........
grrrrrrrr
speedy, that would mean i actually pay attention to another band with the same passion i do pearl jam. i may be a wee bit crazy, but i an't that crazy....;)
we all know that pearl jam and 10c are *special* in how they do things...
Does anyone know of any other band that announces 2 shows at a venue, then waits 2-4 weeks to announce a 3rd show?
No. It would be one thing if they decided, weeks later to add the third. What is so annoying about this is that they have had the 3rd show date reserved from day one. And given the fairly immediate success of ticket sales, it is odd that there has not been some sort of announcement regarding the 3rd show.
In short, no, I have not experienced other bands doing this sort of thing to this extent. Then again, I don't pay a whole lot of attention to other bands' touring procedures.

Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....

I am willing to bet it has more to do with Comcast and the closing of the Spectrum then the band. Not sure what those reasons would be, but Comast is not known for doing the most logical things....

To be honest, I don't really know. A lot of the reasons I had initially considered have either passed or don't seem logical. I consider the 10/28 and 10/30 shows sold out at this point (even if there are some nosebleeds left for the 10/28 show) so that can't be the reason for waiting (I don't think). If there were still tix available for decent seats to either show, I think it would be possible to cite this as a reason. But like I said, I don't buy into it.
At this point I have to agree that it's probably something with Comcast/the Spectrum. I don't know what that would be, but unless the Halloween show simply is not happening, I would think we would have heard from the 10C by now. I just don't see any upside for the 10C to delay this announcement if they are going to make it, unless there is some hangup with Comcast/the Spectrum.
That's my thinking, but I'm not an expert on any of this.

maybe... just maybe... they are going to throw in a few other east coast dates, and they are waiting for those to be finalized before they make the 10/31 announcement. i mean, i have no real reason to think this AT ALL, but one can hope, right?

This is actually the one reason I could see the 10C making the decision to delay an announcement as opposed to Comcast/the Spectrum being in the driver's seat.
If they were planning some other shows in the east coast they COULD be taking that into account. If they announce other east coast shows some fans may not feel like they have to travel to Philly for additional shows. Unfortunately, the 10C doesn't usually seem to take things like into account when announcing tour dates.
I would give more weight to this theory if their past tour announcements were more in line with this sort of consideration. My intuition is to lean the other way on this, but at this time I'll consider anything.

All I know is.
My airfare/hotel package has gone up $150 in the last 2 weeks. Im just not purchasing anything until I find out whats what.
Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
I think one other possibility is that Comcast was thinking about whether to add the 27th along with the 31st, or just add the 31st and nix the 27th, and while this was being considered the Bruce shows went on sale, and then the 2 additional Bruce shows were added. I can see them not wanting to overlap the hype since they want to milk the "Remember the Spectrum" deal for every last penny.

This is clearly another reason why we have so many views on this thread. A lot of people coming from all over the place (including Cincy, hehehe) to see the Spectrum close down. speaking of cincy, did you at least go to graeter's? that was clearly the best part of the trip for me!
perhaps a grand finale show is in the works and they are still hammering out the details/performers
i hate to say it, but i'm starting to think this is the reason for such a delay. why else wait unless you're coordinating schedules for a bunch of different artists/bands?

Yeah.
SPEEDY will be returning to Philly. (maybe the 3rd time is a charm)
i like optimism.
i have no great love for philly, i'm a NYer afterall ....but it's a nice enough city. add to it more than likely my only realistic shot of seeing pearl jam live this year and ya know what? i am loving philly more and more!
i've said it before, as of right now 10.30 is my one and only....if they add 10.31 would be my 30th show, and that just has such nice symmetry to it!
I dont really have any grounds to give advice to anyone, but we went ahead and booked our tickets a few weeks ago after we got 10C tix for 10/30. United was having a special promotion at that time...20K miles for a roundtrip ticket at the times we wanted, so we took it. just didnt want to risk losing that deal and I'm glad we booked. if 10/31 doesnt happen, we can go hangout at a bar and watch the World Series/Halloween craziness or drive to Atlantic City. if you're getting a good deal and can afford to stay in Philly even if there is no show (I know $ and kids have to be considered for some people) I would take a deal on the flight.
as to why the extended delay, only the elusive, mysterious Ten Club knows for sure.
frustrating, maddening and exciting all at the same time.
they know we are chomping about this one even moreso than others too.
everyone wants to make their plans, i know i sure would.
flights certainly aren't getting any cheaper.
wow, quarter is coming too?!
i might have a chance to meet ya....very cool...bring some of your tomatoes.
yep...i'm there, hopefully dressed as Mother Teresa at the Halloween show.
i have easily 30 pounds of just picked tomatoes at the moment.
not sure they'll last though. they've gone nuts in the last week.
mother theresa? hahahahahahaha, awesome.
and, holy shit!
our tomatoes have not done so great this year - too much rain!
we've got quite a few, tho not as many as usual....and they all are still quite green. we had 2 that ripened, but i let the dogs each have one as they think they are candy!
idk what i would dress up as for halloween. not a big fan of halloween if i am perfectly honest, so haven't done so for years. last time, ooo....before we even married, and we were mickey and minnie mouse. my husband never lived that down. :P i'll have to give it some thought, especially b/c i got hot at concerts too....but hell, if a costume is what is needed to make this show happen, i'm IN!
