oh you're a Londoner? tells us where we are all meeting then? cos if this gig was in Edinburgh/Glasgow/Dublin/Manchester/Berlin then one of the locals would sort the rest out... so the fate of this meet-up rests upon your very shoulders... thats right... you... a Londoner ;););)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
  • Ohhhhh Dave'll be happy about the Harry Potter-ness!! :D

Me and the wife are staying central, there's a few of the folks staying at travelodge docklands, which is nearer the O2.

This could help you. Also, let us know where you're staying, we can point you in the correct direction.

The Docklands travelodge is all booked up for the night of the show. London is easy to get around though, so if you get somewhere beside a tubestation, you'll be fine :)

i stay at "Central Hostel" (26 Princes Square, Bayswater if that helps).
the O2 arena isnt in google maps, is it the Millenium Dome renamed or sth. like that?
btw: where can i change my money?

The O2/Millenium Dome (yes it was renamed as the O2 arena when the phone company O2 bought it) is in Greenwich, London.

You can change your money at any post office or travel agent I should think...

most (but not all) post office.
Though it's generally better to change at home, esp as some places will buy back your leftover currency at the price you bought it.

alternatively, when you have a good card like mine (Nationwide Debit Card), the cheapest option is to just withdraw form the cash points. but admittedly with most card issuers it's actually expensive, check with your bank.

I will go to my bank tomorrow!!
When i went to Poland (i know, something very different from the UK) it was the best to cange my money there, i guess that was because it is cheaper there...
    Thanks for your help!!
The German card-system sucks!!! You even have to pay up to 10 Euros, if you take the money from a different cash point than the one on your card!! (I dont know if this is usual!!)

So, i guess I'll be at the Harry Potter pub, after taking a little nap.. ;) Which time are you guys going to be there?

There is a list of rock clubs here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080320021231AABdcER and none of them are near the O2.

Here is a list of bars inside the O2: http://www.viewlondon.co.uk/pubsandbars/o2-bars-recommended-London-353.html which may just be easier. Pick one and go for it!

Hey GZ! *Waves* It's alright, I won't let them know!
  • Hey folks only just paid attention to this, sorreee!

I'm from East London and go to Docklands regularly for work. There are quite a few hotels at Custom House / Royal Victoria which are also on the Docklands Light Railway (the route you need to get to the o2), I can't remember what they are called but they are there cos of the Excel centre next door.

I think lots of the local hotels may be booked up at the mo as there are literally hundreds of long term contractors working on the sites for the 2012 Olympics but there are B&B's and cheapy hotels in Stratford, Redbridge, Forest Gate and similar places if the hotels at Custom House are booked up (or too expensive).

Cool. Got any good ideas where to meet for a beer or three before hand?

  • I'll have a think....I think someone said before there aren't many places near the 02 - it basically houses lots of restaurants etc but does have a big outside area with a water fountain and a sheltered area. Its quite a weird place but not sure if there are any bars inside it - might be only places to eat
  • Check the thread people!

The Harry Potter pub hath been decided!!!

St. Christopher's Southwark if anyone is interested...not sure of the availability.
