I'm with you dude. Absolute garbage, I should have spent the last hour and forty-five minutes slamming my balls in a dresser drawer, I'd have more to show for it.

Agreed. The system is terrible, and I'd say the same thing if I was lucky enough to get tickets to one of the shows. Some people from the fan club have tickets to both shows while others got shut out for both.

    System makes no sense.
    You will try.

I agree I wasted over almost 2 hours trying to get tickets. I got through 3 or 4 times and clicked the buy button and it sent me to a page that wouldn't allow me to complete my transaction. I have been buying fan club tickets for years and every time they have a pre-sale they can not handle the volume and the server crashes. Hopefully one day they will get a server big enough to handle the fan base. PEARL JAM is the best band in world and the Ten Club website is a third world site.

If it you makes you feel better I was dumb enough to take a vacation day today and was shut out of both concerts. The worst is that by the 10th time I got to "buy" I still some how thought I was going to get them, so it goes.

so whats the difference between those that got tix and those that didnt?
    dumb luck?

    I think not.

people were still scoring tix 45 mins later

internet speed and persistence pays off as far as I can tell

and the servers are a heck of a lot better than they used to be

of course thats easy for me to say

I disagree, I think it can have something to do with dumb luck. I did the exact same thing from the exact same computer for both pre-sales today. I was lucky with Philly 1, but unlucky with Philly 2. Sounds like a combination of preparedness, persistance and yes, a little dumb luck!

I respectfully disagree with your assertion sir. My internet speed is 12MB, nowhere close to the best, but more than adequate in this regard. I spent 105 minutes of my life opening what was probably a thousand tabs with Firefox, saw the 'buy' button about 50 times, and it glitched out every single time. I even saved one of the 'buy' pages as .htm, hoping I'd be able to click it multiple times instead of when it randomly generated - nada.

Exactly two minutes before 5pm (2 Pacific) their system crashed because of the amount of traffic, I know this is a fact because it told me so. After freaking out and repeatedly trying to get back in, I started clicking away and finally got the Buycon, clicked it, and it timed out, again because the system was overloaded.

This is not about internet speed, or a "lack of persistence", it is solely about an insufficient system to obtain concert tickets for our favorite band, which unfortunately for me is the main reason I remain in the fan club.

To sum up the experience, please refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullshit

well my connection runs at 100mb, and its just a DSL line, so 12 seems very slow

but hey I guess I was wrong as there is always a little luck involved

this is nothing new-same thing happened with MSG last year and the tickets sold out even faster than today

    it was tough.

I was on before 5 and started the refresh train. Right at 5, the server went down. I got it back up at like 5:01 and kept trying to click on the ticket Icon. It would take me back to the Goods home page and say the item isnt for sale. This happened until about 5:05 or so.

Then I was able to get into the ticket screen and click buy, but then I would get the website was unavailable message. Then I was locked out for a long time, until maybe 5:10.

Thats when the lab experiment started. the temporary out of stock race. I got buy a handful of times, but no matter how quick i tried to click on it, the tickets would be unavailable.

At about 5:47 I got lucky and hit the buy button and it took me through the transaction.

I have a very good track record with these sales and I was at work on a very good internet connection. Things were very fucked up today and it was very tough to get tickets no matter who you were.

Hmmn...you can't afford the extra $8 charge that TM puts on, so you aren't going to Philly? A whole $8 is going to stop you from going to Philly? Sorry you didn't get tickets, but really the whole issue is here is that 2,000 people get tickets, and 200 don't, and we all would just prefer to find out within 2 minutes and not an hour.

100 mb through DSL, in New York? I know that's theoretically possible with the tech, but are you sure :?: Seems a little far fetched to me, no offense

    actually I was surprised
my wireless runs at 24mb and it felt a little slow, so I switched to a hard wire and it went up to 100mb
obviously my wireless router is slow
but I know that speed is subject to the response time of the website I am using
downloads sure dont run at that speed

go to speedtest.net to check your speed... Ethernet can run at 100mb, that doesn't mean it is.... and if you are getting that speed from running your mouse over the little computer icons thing in your tray then thats not what your real speed is anyway.

i think i said that correct

I have Verizon Fios and am running at 25.17Mb/s up and 12.66 Mb/s down

im pretty sure DSL should be no where close to that fast

Thats his network speed, not internet connection speed. Many people get the two confused. 100MB network speed pertains to transfering files from one computer to another over a network, just one expample. But DL and uploading stuff pertains to internet speed. For example, I have 100MB per/sec network speed and 10MB/sec internet cable connection.

well I am back to wireless
    but that site tells me
    1.85 Mbps for downloads
    1.12 mbps for uploads

which seems about right in terms of adding content to my computer

but that is very different from what microsoft tells me when I click status of my ethernet connection

    you may be right
  • I logged in at 5 pm est. On my first try I got the tix and put them in my cart. They were visible in the shopping cart, only had to make the payment. I clicked "check out" and it came up with an error message telling me to log in. Now before anyone tries to get smart I will tell you that I WAS logged in. I know this, because when I went to click the "login" button, it instead said "Logout [cannotstaylong]". Clearly the website malfunctioned, and wouldn't let me check out even though I was already logged in. When I tried to log back in, the site crashed. I finally got back on, but at that time my shopping cart had been emptied. So I spent the next hour and fifteen minutes refreshing, getting about 10 "buy" icons, only to get the same "temporary sold out" message. I was at work on a T-1 line, so it was not an internet connection issue.

There is a serious problem when you do everything the correct way, successfully reserve tickets, and then the Ten Club's inadequate technology and equipment literally screws you out of tickets.

I have been shut out before, but it's been because I either did not refresh or had a bad connection. This is different and in my opinion is unacceptable. I don't pay $20 a year for this to happen. I realize that being in the 10C does not guarantee that I will get tickets, but I think it should guarantee that my payment will be rewarded with a system that will not screw people out of tickets they have.

Go ahead, blast me. I don't care.
