i got night 1 but not night 2 so ill live with it but if they come back and add MSG shows I am going to be insanely pissed. Let all these out-of-towners in then announce shows in their home town would be such a d--- move. as of now i doubt they will but if they do it will hit the fan here.
so you would have preferred to send in a mail order, pass on the public onsale and then find out weeks later your order wasnt filled?
I think you are missing the point, there are a LOT more members now than in 1998, all trying to get tix.
At least you know that you need to try for the public onsale, something mail order does not afford.
you are not alone in your online experience, but its due to increased demand, not a decreased level of care by the 10c IMHO
No you missed my point.. I was saying that I miss the stress free and more personal experience. There really is no difference between these online pre-sales and the Saturday morning frustration that you get with ticketmaster. I completely understand that there are more members than 98, believe me and I am fully aware of the demand.
I wasn't saying that individuals working for, or affiliated with, the 10c no longer care or care any less. I am saying that the automated online piece that has become a large part of the 10c, is making it feel less and less personal.. Also I wasn't saying that I would pass on the online sale to try my luck at snail mail ? That would be silly? I was saying back when there was no online pre-sale and just snail mail, the way you responded confused that part I think?
I think that what I am getting at is that if this is the reality that is the 10c these days and it is being run more like a business as opposed to a homegrown fanclub than get the servers right to handle these sales. Like somone earlier posted. I am sorry I missed the tickets but at least let me get on to the dang website and see that they are sold out ( for sure ) and then I can move on with my life.
This BS of having to try and try for close to an hour only to end up getting a temporarily out of stock message, that I find out later that an hour and fifteen into this whole damn sale that people were able to secure tix despite the temp out of stock message is utter nonsense.

There is also the fact the club does not have the unlimited amount of seats that it did back in 98-03. It would suck to mail a money order, and then get it back a few weeks later that you did not get 10c seats. part of the reason for the online sale is they have limited seast now. No matter what, it is suplpy and demand for all the people from all over the world trying for two shows. In a full blown tour, it would not be nearly as hard.
...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...
It's quite frustrating for everyone, but if you keep trying, you'll usually get them.
Bullshit. 3 tours now where sometimes I've tried for hours and didn't get tix. There is just way more demand than supply and it would be nice if 10C figured a way to distribute the tix more evenly. But it has become obvious the band either doesn't know of the situation for East Coast tix or sadly just don't care about the fans the way they used to. It's truly a pity.
I couldn't agree more. I am all for the homegrown feel of the old snail mail way. I thought it was cool that I went and filled out my index cards and sent my money orders in and I received a confirmation. It felt like...well.. a fan club. I imagined people actully handling my money orders and the index cards and making sure that shit was right for me a fan club member. Much more personal and special in my opinion.
Not this machine that the 10c has turned into. I am sorry to those that disagree becasue either they got their tix and are thinking other are just crying sour grapes, or those that didn't but they are 10c loyal and nothing that goes on here is wrong, but this online pre-sale deal is horse shit! I am familiar with the process from previous sales here, as well as years of ticketmaster. I did the same as DR49650 logged in at 4:50 got to the goods section, waited until 4:58 or 4:59 refreshed to get the tickets to actually show in the goods section and BAM the fucking website is down! 45 straight minutes.... I couldn't even get on. I got the SQL error, I even got an error message from the webspace provider that said the site is down due to " technical diffuculty" and we are sorry? If I am the owner of the website please make sure that xyz things are started and synchronized and blah blah blah.
I was patient and after 45mins was able to get into the goods section, select the tix and got the " temporarily out of stock" ? What the hell? so i tried some more and finally after an hour I left work and went home. Before the flaming starts I did get tix to 10/28 and I will be trying comcast tomorrow, I just felt that I needed to make a point here and say that getting tickets for a show should not be a stressful hour long event that ends up being all for nothing. That is my 2c.. I will be at the shows, but my 10c experince continues to deteriorate, and I am more sad than angry at how things have changed. I realize it is what it is and things change, but I am more for positive change, and I am having a hard time finding any positive in this online experience...
AND

I hear you brother - you make a lot of good points. I can only think the reason why they got rid of the snail mail system was it was cheaper and easier to go automated coupled with the fact that they used to have much more fan club tix back in the day. Ticketmaster (whom they put up a good fight with but eventually caved into) has curbed the amount of fan club tickets for all acts... and we pay the price. Still, in a weird way I'd rather send in my index card and know that people at 10 club are somehow trying to evenly distribute tickets rather than get error messages and "out of stock" messages for hours. Then I check the boards and see the douchebags brag about how easy it was for them to get multiple tickets. Makes me want to vomit.
This message will probably get flamed by some of the people who got tix (and think we are just crying sour grapes) or the 10C "Loyalists" who in my eyes are equivalent Hitler Youth in that any dissent is met with rage and trash talk. Please spare me your anger, one of the most helpful and intelligent things one can do in any society is question how things are done. Hey- didn't I actually see that in one of the little magazines they sent us a few years ago?
Anyhow, it is obvious there is a problem with fans in the North East NOT getting tickets and the fact that 10C or the band doesn't acknowledge the situation is just wrong. I can offer a bunch of suggestions for solutions, but what is the point if nobody inside 10C or the band is willing to listen. The fact is everyone is older and more complacent with just doing business the easiest way and the days of them fighting for the fan are virtually gone.
Thanks for illustrating my point in my 2nd message. Sorry lil' Adolf, I know that I shouldn't show dissent to the Fatherland. There is nothing wrong with the current system and god forbid I question how things are done. Heil PJ!
BTW- thanks for bringing your intelligence to the discussion. I'm sure you'll have more gems to add.
And the hyperbole machine keeps rolling in this thread.
Maybe so. Does anyone actually know the amount of people who tried but didn't get tickets for Philly yesterday (or worse MSG last tour)? I would imagine 10C could give an estimate, but it is obvious they don't care.

I hear you man and I know what your saying. However, its been nine years since the last mail order. Time to adapt and overcome! I dont think the 10c is trying to do anything more than adopt the internet technology to make the sales more administratively efficient. Plus, lets face it, its better to know that day rather than weeks down the road. It would be nice if they could provide us with instant information, but they never have before and I dont expect them to start anytime soon.
In reality, and as it has been for the last couple of tours, you need to set aside an hour (or two) to try and get 10C tix online. Its been this way since 2003. There are going to be problems, you need the fastest connection you can use, the site will crash, you will have problems checking out, others will brag about getting tix while you are still clicking away. It is what it is. No surprises. This is especially true for a very limited east coast show.
I happen to think its worth the effort.
But in the end, its a numbers game, some got the buy button and could complete the transaction, some didnt. I dont think its any more complicated than that.
I wasn't around for snail mail, but I just can't imagine that working at all these days. Just think, what significantly sized company still operates that way? I missed out on 10/30 tickets too, same crap about my session timing out, but shit happens. You guys can call people who defend the 10c Hitler followers, but you guys expect them to work miracles. How are they able to provide fan club tickets for every member who wants it these days? This isn't 1998. There is an increase demand with less tickets to go around due to TM/Live Nation restrictions on fan club seating. Sending in an index card won't solve that. At all. In fact, it'd be significantly worse. The server is "bad" but not impossible.
And think how impractical it would be to invest a ton of money to boost a server for what amounted to 3 whole days of congested traffic this year. There wasn't a problem for Ed solo shows because of that lottery thing. There was no problem taking the load of the Europe demand or Chicago or Toronto (but those sales were announced so who knows...) In fact, I don't even think there was a crash with Seattle, LA, or San Diego (although there was slow down and I may be wrong about the crash)... The two worst days of the year were when they announced this tour (which nothing happened so no big deal if the server works) and yesterday. Granted it sucked if it bit you in the ass yesterday, but I don't think you could expect the 10c to spend so much money on one to three days of needing a better server a year. The server works, not the best, but it works. Every available ticket was sold within 3 minutes (notwithstanding the temp out of stock). Obviously the server was up for someone. Sorry it wasn't you (nor me for 10/30). But that's the breaks.

I think you and the other responder who dismissed the snail mail posts missed the point. I (and I believe this JS guy) wasn't saying the snail mail process would be better in every way, however, it seemed that there was consideration to get tix to as many fans as possible. Plus it seemed more personal somehow. Now it makes no difference how low your 10C # is or how much effort you put in to get tix in the northeast... you just have to "get lucky".
Adapt & overcome? I can use a computer, but I cannot overcome the sheer number of people also scrambling to get the same tix and forcing the site to crash while a lucky few get their 4th show!?! Over the past 3 tours I've spent probably 10 or more cumulative hours NOT getting tickets, so I must totally disagree in saying it is NOT worth the effort.
I do agree with your statement that 10C has switched to the new system because it is administratively more efficient. That is part of the problem. They've made it easier on themselves at the cost of many members getting shafted on tix. I can give a lot of ideas on how to fix the current system without reverting back to the snail mail system, but the problem is no 10C Admins seem to be listening. They just don't care. That is what I miss most about "the old days". As much of a hassle Randall's Island was, at least PJ was trying to help their fans out as best as they could. Once they got back into business with TicketBastard and accepted their increasingly stringent fan club ticket rules, things got f_cked up. However, once the band saw they could still sell out those TicketBastard run arenas even without huge allotments for fans, they stopped caring. They can sell out venues and not deal with the hassles.
My biggest complaint is that no one from the band or 10 Club has even addressed the situation. Its been 3 tours with hundreds of posts on this board and nobody in charge seems to care. Pretty ironic for a band with so much angst against the Bush administration for deflecting the issues to treat their fans the same way.
10C is Hitler
10C members who don't hate 10C are Nazi Youth
Pearl Jam is George W. Bush
Elvis and Buddy Holly are the Cain and Abel of Rock n Roll
Bruce Springsteen is Zachariah
Iggy Pop is Methuselah
Neil Young is the wise prophet Ezekiel
Dewey Cox is, well, God sounds just like him.
It all brings a question to my mind: Did Gary Cooper beat dead horses ?

I hear ya. An apology or at least an acknowledgment by 10C is the only reasonable action.

Whaaaa, whaaaaaa, whaaaaa. You really think PJ checks the message boards of their fanclub website?!? TenClub is hooking us up, even if you're not one of the lucky few. As far as I know, most bands don't have priority seating for their fan clubs. Just go onto Ticketmaster for the public onsale, cross your fingers, and hope you get good tickets, like the old days. If you don't, find another way to get them. Stop whining. PJ still loves us, and TenClub did what it could.... :?

I honestly believe the band still tries to get as as many tickets as possible for the 10c. But as with the Tm fight over fess, there is a point in which the band probably gave up trying to negotiate with the ticket services. After all, and at the end of the day, went want the band to play shows, 10c tix or not. Of course it was more personal, there were a lot less members in the club prior to 2003. And if they were to switch back to snail mail you would still have to get lucky, its a numbers game nowadays, but you wouldnt know within an hour or two, but instead weeks later. We all miss the good old days, mail in a form get tix, no problem.
But, for better or worse, times have changed, and its mostly due to the increased membership.
Adapt & overcome? I can use a computer, but I cannot overcome the sheer number of people also scrambling to get the same tix and forcing the site to crash while a lucky few get their 4th show!?! I meant that there are things you can do, tips if will, to increase your chances of getting 10c tix online. People discuss this all the time, and I have found that for the most part, the suggestions work. Of course its not perfect, there are no guarantees, I got shut out of MSG 2 last year (but at least they did a TM 10C presale).
If you dont think its worth an hour and a half of mad mouse clicking (no matter what the result is or if the site crashes etc) to get the best tix to a particular show without going through TM, well we will just have to agree to disagree there.
I do agree with your statement that 10C has switched to the new system because it is administratively more efficient. That is part of the problem. I will agree that the lack of communication is a problem. We always find out about PJ related events from other places first. That stinks and there is a LOT of room for improvement. But I dont think that is a reflection of how much they care, as I do believe this band consciously does much much more for its fan club members than any other. But in the end this is about getting tickets, and it really does simply boil down to a numbers game. Some get through some dont. Snail mail or more personal attention is not going to change that IMHO. The rest is just commentary.
So I hope you try through the public onsale and get good seats. Good luck.
My only response to all of this is welcome to the world of TenC tickets presales. I have been seeing them for years and have only gotten tickets back when snail mail postcards. Any since then have been through friends who couldn't make shows and had a set they had to unload. I don't know enough about the internet to say what the problem is so I will let it go at that.

Bottom line is right. Demand exceeds supply and all of the demand tries to take all of the supply at the exact same time.
Really though, if they would just announce a full tour all at once like in 2003 and like every other band does, this would not be as much of an issue, but we all know that will never happen.
IMHO, Flagg has hit the two salient points. Demand > Supply and no one knows if these dates are truly all there will be. As far as "give us more tickets," the venues and TM control this. It is frustrating as hell, but even with the most wazoo servers in the world, people would come away empty handed (for now). :(

Good call Rub.. I wasn't saying I wanted it to go back to snail mail, that just simply wouldn't work. I was saying I miss the personal experience that came along with getting tix the old way. I am not stuck in the past as others have hinted, that simply is not the case. I am saying it was more personal and is seemed a bit more special to do things this way. So please peeps stop reminding me that things have changed and about internet connections and speed, I am fully abreast of these things and live in the modern age here. lol
Yes things change and that is a part of life, but change isn't always good, and this current situation my friends is not good.
I got tickets, but then the system logged me out and I couldn't get logged back in to buy them. So, I sat there and reloaded and hit the buy button at least 10 more times (Temporarily out of stock) during the next hour and 15 minutes. Didn't get tickets. That being said, I was lucky enough to get tickets for Seattle, 1 & 2, LA and SD.
I have to say that for me personally, this weeks ticket sales have been the best yet. I think 10c's changes made things go a lot more smoothly than previous sales.
It's not always easy, and I don't always get tickets... but I appreciate the shot at 'em.

Certainly is drawing a "special" price. More than the Borgata shows even it seems.
Now I do feel very special I got one fan club show order to work.

It's truly a pity.
it is fucking pathetic

Whaaaa, whaaaaaa, whaaaaa. You really think PJ checks the message boards of their fanclub website?!? TenClub is hooking us up, even if you're not one of the lucky few. As far as I know, most bands don't have priority seating for their fan clubs. Just go onto Ticketmaster for the public onsale, cross your fingers, and hope you get good tickets, like the old days. If you don't, find another way to get them. Stop whining. PJ still loves us, and TenClub did what it could.... :?
But, for better or worse, times have changed, and its mostly due to the increased membership.
Good luck.
"What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal." Albert Pine.
P.S. I laughed out loud at this:

Good call Rub.. I wasn't saying I wanted it to go back to snail mail, that just simply wouldn't work. I was saying I miss the personal experience that came along with getting tix the old way. I am not stuck in the past as others have hinted, that simply is not the case. I am saying it was more personal and is seemed a bit more special to do things this way. So please peeps stop reminding me that things have changed and about internet connections and speed, I am fully abreast of these things and live in the modern age here. lol
Yes things change and that is a part of life, but change isn't always good, and this current situation my friends is not good.
I have to say that for me personally, this weeks ticket sales have been the best yet. I think 10c's changes made things go a lot more smoothly than previous sales.
It's not always easy, and I don't always get tickets... but I appreciate the shot at 'em.
