NO ON THE ORIGINAL EMAIL FROM THE TEN CLUB THERE WAS no lottery for the 1 2 9 and 10 rows!!! if they changed that now that is not nice of them. it better not be like that. if they wanted it like that they should of said it when tickets went on sale.plus united cented all ready screwed up ten club tickets before long time ago. i hope it is organized.
I'm happy to hear the latest news that there will be a lottery bcuz in the original announcement it said this for the Toronto Show:
Ten Club tickets are for reserved seating and will be allocated by seniority. Seat locations will be reserved from the 1st row on the floor, extending back, and the side sections closest to the stage. The longer you have been in the fan club, the closer your seats will be to the stage. Newer members should not expect prime seat locations. Proximity to the stage is contingent on the amount of members in attendance.
yes thank u to the person on top of my post thats there original post. It should be by senority! They shouldnt go back on what they say.
Frankly, it's pretty irrelevant what they said originally, as well as what's right or wrong for them to do - the fact is, rows 1-2 and 9-10 will be allocated randomly through the lottery, as confirmed by myself through email, as well as several others here by email and phone. I confirmed this today, for the record.

I can't argue with people being angry, but the most anybody is gonna be pushed back is a couple rows. It's hard to feel too sorry for anybody as they've had their chances at front row.

you're just a shameless self-promoter, aren't you?!
frankly, 10C's stated policies and procedures are exceptionally relevant, especially when the stakes are changed on a whim. if policies such as no transfers/no refunds/no exchanges are adhered to so strictly with no room for negotiation, announcements should also be upheld despite any potential mistakes with regards to a lottery that "should have been" in place. as was mentioned above, if members had known about the lottery being in place, perhaps different purchase strategies might have been employed,...

I'm a fan of the Lottery though I also agree with those members that the lottery negatively affects.
That said...was it fair of them not to say it was Lottery when the tix went onsale?? No. Is there anyone here that would NOT have bought their tix had 10C said from the outset it was a lottery?? I doubt it.

i think its ridiculous that just because people got into the band before i did that they have prime seats locked up for the last however many years. I was 8 years old when pearl jam started does that make me less of a fan because i got into the band at a later time in life? I don't think so. I don't disagree with seniority completely but i love the lottery. It gives everyone a fair chance to get seats they otherwise may never be able to get. If people with good seniority numbers are complaining about a lottery its a shame because you people get an awesome deal all the time. Us people who joined the fan club later than you sure do appreciate the chance to at least get half close just once. i know they didn't announce a lottery at the time of these shows but i mean come on give it a break you get the best seats all the time and its only four rows so you will still have prime seating.

Uh, I was born the same year the band Mookie Blaylock was, and I have no problem with seniority. I have no problem with the lottery being there, I also have no problem with it being absent - but I think we should've been told from the start straight-up the way it was going to be. 100 Pacer, I can't even believe 10c would say that to you - having two different sets of terms for when you buy tickets just doesn't make sense - especially when the one with much more exposure and easy access (aka right before you push "Buy") happens to be distributing false information (aka no lottery).

Keep this in perspective. No one is arguing the merits of the lottery system here. The argument being made is that the policy that was stated when tickets were sold is not being adhered to.
That said, there's nothing anyone can do about it.

yeah no, absolutely. i understand the argument. i just think that people with good numbers are so fortunate to always get good tickets. I say, why complain that the lottery system is being implemented for a few shows after the fact. I would feel fortunate for having recieved such great tix for so long for really just liking a band at an earlier time than others. Feel fortunate and be happy that others have a chance at something that you may have enjoyed numerous times, that they otherwise wouldn't get the opportunity to enjoy. That being said i do understand how some may feel somewhat cheated, but in the end i am very happy its a lottery cause i have a chance at something i htought i'd never get to experience.

Exactly!!!
Typical 10 club bullshit. The fans are held to the letter of the law for every word in their ticket purchase policies but when they make a mistake by forgetting to include the lottery language in the policy for this onsale they conveniently change the rules after the tickets have been sold. Nice way to run a business!
The excuse that the correct information was in the policies on the website is absurb because they are constantly changing their policies for each onsale.

I know someone already posted the original email, but it does state:
"Ten Club tickets are for reserved seating and will be allocated by seniority. Seat locations will be reserved from the 1st row on the floor, extending back, and the side sections closest to the stage. The longer you have been in the fan club, the closer your seats will be to the stage. Newer members should not expect prime seat locations. Proximity to the stage is contingent on the amount of members in attendance."
It doesn't mention lotto, because it clearly states longer you've been in, the closer you are and new members should not expect prime seats. To me, that's a pretty obvious statement of no lotto. So yeah, I agree, it's crap for them to go change it after everyone has bought their tix regardless how anyone feels about the lotto.
i love conspiracies and my guess on this whole situation is that "those old 10c morons", who always get front row and follow the band around everywhere, and are pissing off the band somehow, got tickets for these shows, so as soon as 10c saw that they had secured tickets, a reversal of policy was made. they prolly said " oh those morons are on this tour, guess we'll have to put the lottery in place afterall"
something happened in michigan(grand rapids), or the show before that?, and we will never know...but my guess is the lottery is in place to get a certain few OUT of the front row for every show. sure the lotto helps the noobs but i dont think thats the only reason
bottomline is i feel i've been misled and carelessly omitting the lottery statement policy is poor at best, and especially putting it in place after the fact has left me feeling not as good as 2 days ago. it's not like there wasnt tons of posts about this when the tour was announced so why wasn't the damage control done then?
Man this is depressing news. I have a good number and I've resigned myself to the fact that PJ will probably make the random rows a permanent change - which I don't totally disagree with. That being said when I bought tix for Toronto and Chicago and with what was stated when they went on sale I thought, "cool". In 2000 and 2003 I travelled to Toronto and was very glad to have 2nd row both times. Now I have a chance to win those seats
Ten Club has been "berry berry good to me", no doubt, but I think they should just save themselves the trouble and make it all random seating. Easier for them to just throw tix in an envelope and let the chips fall where they may. No more policy mistakes, no more questions - random rows or not?, fans would be introduced to new faces at each show.......
And no I haven't seen them 100's of times..........
If you have a chance to make life better for others, and fail to do so, you are wasting your time on this earth.
This is Pearl Jam's ticket system, their club and their (the Band's) wishes. If you don't like the rules then take your ball and go home. For all three previous Toronto shows (05 and 2 in 06) I was in row 24...It won't make a difference if I'm in row 28 this time...I still get to see the band, and I'm at least 1 row closer then the people who bought their tickets from ticketmaster. That's good enough for me.

you're just a shameless self-promoter, aren't you?!
frankly, 10C's stated policies and procedures are exceptionally relevant, especially when the stakes are changed on a whim. if policies such as no transfers/no refunds/no exchanges are adhered to so strictly with no room for negotiation, announcements should also be upheld despite any potential mistakes with regards to a lottery that "should have been" in place. as was mentioned above, if members had known about the lottery being in place, perhaps different purchase strategies might have been employed,...

I'm a fan of the Lottery though I also agree with those members that the lottery negatively affects.
That said...was it fair of them not to say it was Lottery when the tix went onsale?? No. Is there anyone here that would NOT have bought their tix had 10C said from the outset it was a lottery?? I doubt it.
did certain members with exceptionally high 10C numbers ultimately pass up on the opportunity to purchase 10C tickets for Toronto and Chicago, having been informed that a random lottery wasn't in place (since the lottery gives those members the best chance to upgrade)? most likely,...

and for those in favor of this change for these shows, imagine if the situation was reversed (they said lottery, but then changed it to seniority only). it's not a matter of what your number is, it's a matter of changing the rules after decisions have been made.

Very good point there. Forgot about that aspect of it, and you're probably right.
absolutely,...
EDIT: in speaking with 10C on the phone earlier, i was informed that since the Ten Club Ticketing policy on the website remained the same throughout the sales (i.e. lottery is in place) the announcement should have been "disregarded despite what it may have stated". easier said than done for some,...

The excuse that the correct information was in the policies on the website is absurb because they are constantly changing their policies for each onsale.

this is bad news
"Ten Club tickets are for reserved seating and will be allocated by seniority. Seat locations will be reserved from the 1st row on the floor, extending back, and the side sections closest to the stage. The longer you have been in the fan club, the closer your seats will be to the stage. Newer members should not expect prime seat locations. Proximity to the stage is contingent on the amount of members in attendance."
It doesn't mention lotto, because it clearly states longer you've been in, the closer you are and new members should not expect prime seats. To me, that's a pretty obvious statement of no lotto. So yeah, I agree, it's crap for them to go change it after everyone has bought their tix regardless how anyone feels about the lotto.
something happened in michigan(grand rapids), or the show before that?, and we will never know...but my guess is the lottery is in place to get a certain few OUT of the front row for every show. sure the lotto helps the noobs but i dont think thats the only reason
bottomline is i feel i've been misled and carelessly omitting the lottery statement policy is poor at best, and especially putting it in place after the fact has left me feeling not as good as 2 days ago. it's not like there wasnt tons of posts about this when the tour was announced so why wasn't the damage control done then?
Ten Club has been "berry berry good to me", no doubt, but I think they should just save themselves the trouble and make it all random seating. Easier for them to just throw tix in an envelope and let the chips fall where they may. No more policy mistakes, no more questions - random rows or not?, fans would be introduced to new faces at each show.......
And no I haven't seen them 100's of times..........
