after the fan's at Ed's solo Milwaukee shows, Alpine is not looking likely anytime soon....
Do you really think it matters what venue they play in? Rock stars are like politicians saying "It's great to be back in Wisconsin" or "This has got to be the best place in the U.S.A!!!" It's not with meaning, it's just pandering to the crowd to make more donations. A donation to a band would be to join the fan club, to build a personal connection to the buyer so that they remain committed to the band and keep buying in the future. "MY concert is the only one they play x or y ambiguous song." Other "donations" would be in the form of a t-shirt or poster at 60x cost to produce. Even after a bad experience, they'll return (Melbourne) if the price is right.
I would say they typically go back to the venues where they make the most money. Exceptions may be venues like Missoula, where a band member has roots. That all being said, I'd still pay to see another Alpine Valley show!
I'm hoping Ed got to see the Play Alpine shirt that got on stage and they give it some thought for next tour. KEEP THE FAITH!!! ALPINE 09!
I won't change direction, and I won't change my mind - E.V.
