Alpine is going away soon, time is running out, how bout a two-nighter right before lalapalooza????

Alpine isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

    Not Going Anywhere, Anytime Soon

As mentioned above, Alpine will not be getting torn down. Many of you have heard from "reliable sources" that Alpine is getting shut down and the property will get used for a water park, condos or expansion of the golf course. It is unknown to any of us who originally started the rumors or why, but one thing we can assure you is that we aren't going anywhere, anytime soon. It's true that we only had 4 shows in 2005 and 6 shows in 2006, but that is no indication that we are shutting down and we're working harder than ever to bring in more acts.

  • ...and I have tosay that the Alpine 03 show really stands out as something extremely special. Certainly at live shows, the crowd is a HUGE factor. The Alpine 2003 crowd was absolutely perfect, and totally connected with the band during the entire show. Plus, the band was perfect, Ed's voice was great, and the combined energy and overall vibe was one of the best of all-time.

Seriously, use your own bootlegs, and the various websites out there, and listen to the subtle differences between shows. Alpine 2003 stands out more and more, as you listen to as many shows as possible. I was lucky to be there, but I've been there for Pearl Jam before, (plus all over the country). I have to say that the more I listen to Pearl Jam live performances, the more Alpine 2003 stands out as something extremely special.

I can't wait to see them at Alpine again!

    Exactly!!
    Very well said!

Alpine '03 was simply a phenomenal show...my favorite live show of alltime and my favorite PJ boot.

I have seen many, many PJ shows over the years and this one remains the most vivid and memorable in my mind.

    Please PJ...please play Alpine soon!
  • Listening to the Alpine '03 show here at work, AGAIN. Damn, it gives me frickin' gossebumps everytime I listen to this show!

I've actually been listening to a lot of live stuff from 1998 - 2006 and I know I've already said it, but this show really stands out as a truly something special.

So, yoiu can look at this post as a bump for the thread (which it totally is), as well as a recommendation for those of you who love the live shows. You need to have a copy of this concert. It's as good (or better) than any of the other "must have's" out there in bootleg land.

(Special appreciation needs to be paid for this version of "Betterman". It's my absolute favorite, and I think it's one of Ed's as well. 2003 was the first tour when he was really letting the crowd sing the first verse or two. This was fairly well know by the time they got to Alpine, but right when the first notes were played, the crowd was more than ready. The first two verses were sung to perfection by the ENTIRE crowd, and Ed was blown away by it. Stuff of legend.)

I just got home from a very long day at work. My board time has been cut to evenings now. But today Alpine 03 on my mind. It's the only show that gives me goose bumps when I hear the boot. Yes the Betterman version was fucking amazing with the crowd. We did such a great job Ed was surprised.:D I have so many great memories from that day out in East Troy. I so hope we get to do it all over again. :D

    PLEASE PLAY ALPINE

Well said!! We NEED another Alpine show, heck since it's been sooo long I think we are owed a double weekend bill, like 98. For anyone who was there in 03, band included, how could you not want to come back?

  • This is a bump because I'm sick of other threads begging for PJ to play in their region. I want Pearl Jam to play Alpine Valley because it will be a show to remember!

I say video tape, digital record it, stream it, and whatever else we can do with the show and the venue. Film a documentary about the venue and the bands history there, and the history of the venue. Let's get some pub for Alpine Valley! It's one of the very few original, large, outdoor venues of it's kind left!

Does anyone have a picture of the fans walking from the parking lot to the ticket office? Just an amazing site to see. I remember Alpine saying they would put it up on their website, but I never saw it. If anyone has a picture of this, please post it or let me know so I can get a copy of it from you.

Another great weekend in Wisconsin that would have been perfect for Pearl Jam to play Alpine. It's been over 4 years now, and we're still waiting. I hope it's not another 4 till they play there.

On a side note went to Yield (Bar) last night and heard a ton of Pearl Jam (MFC, Fuckin' Up, Pilate, No Way, Daughter w/ the It's Ok tag, and Baba). Hadn't been to that bar in awhile which is a true shame, good times!!!

No kidding what a great weekend for PJ to Play Alpine. Dam Europe tour. LoL

Here is my Alpine story from yesterday.

I drove up to Alpine Valley for shits and giggles. The short drive to East Troy and then seeing the signs for Alpine Valley was beautiful. While on the way there Dissident and Betterman played on the radio. Had to call a friend and we chatted about our last Alpine adventure seeing PJ. Also saw a sign showing where Stone Bridge School is. It was a fun PJ related day.

I have to get back down to Yield. Great bar and always great PJ music playing.

    Please Play Alpine :)

Patrick, we always bunp into each other on these threads. I'm with you on the alpine love. Hopefully Ed and the guys will make up for their absense with long sets and a two night stand next summer (or a cold october night).

August 3rd and 4th. ALPINE. Nobody is playing there those days... still. I'm tellin' ya. It just makes sense and would really make my (and everyone else's) summer. Please play there. An evening with Pearl Jam would be even more insane at Alpine. Now I'm getting greedy though. Later. ALPINE 8/3 8/4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been hoping for an announcement all summer long. I'm still holding out. I'm trying not to lose hope. I've been saying Aug 3 and 4 all along, but would we know by now? Perhaps. Or perhaps they'll announce something like this in the upcoming days. It's not like they'd have a problem selling out. WI backs PJ all the way. I'd say we have some of the greatest fans around (not to take anything away from fans elsewhere). It's just that WI people are pretty die hard. Just think sports teams. It holds true for music as well, which is why I think most bands LOVE playing here. Fingers crossed!
