I'd rather go back to the index card method of 03 if theier web site cant handle it LOL. Or why dont' they invest in a server that can handle the traffic. I mean sometimes the board crashes even during a poster sale for crying out loud!
There have been two methods I liked that I thought were totally fair. The old one-show request by mail (2000 was my first show, and that's how they did it for that tour)
The second was the lottery method used on the recent Eddie solo tour.
2003 was my first tour, so was able to buy for multiple shows...but still the postcard method. that was ok, albeit a bit unwieldy, and definitely would be difficult nowadays for 10c with their short time spans between annoucements and then TM onsale dates.
i thought the lottery was AWESOME! i know lots of people hated it, think it unnecessary for larger shows....but i just think, well if it is so 'unnecessary'....why not then? NO stress! everyone just signs up that they want whatebver tix, wait a couple days, and see if you're in. the only real issue i have with it possibly is if you are traveling for shows, and want to attend multiple shows, and you only score for 1. guess you'd still have TM, but still. i like getting 10c tix for multiple shows. but you are right, the lottery is absolutely the most 'fair' way of doing it. not how fast you get your mail out, not how fast your computer is, no reward for sitting here hours on end...just pure luck, all equal chances.
however, overall...i am a-ok with whatever 10c does, but i definitely am of the opinion that instant sales suck.
(in case i was unclear )

i didn't win the lottery for the only show i went to last year, but i made out pretty decent! on the wings about 5 rows up from the floor in a section close to the stage on stone's side. the lottery did make me a nervous wreck however.
I'd rather go back to the postcard method of 1998! That was great and fair! It also eliminated seniority. ...now, I love seniority, but the postcard method of 98 was my favorite.
that was pretty fuckin' cool wasn't it? remember the 03' tour when we had to send in all those damn money orders?! ha! we've been through so many incarnations of this thing that this is what we're left with.
Sometimes the older methods work best. You don't even need a computer to do it, and there's no chance the "mail" will crash.
...all the rusted signs, eh?
I guess the poblem with the post card method now, is if there are "limits" to the number of fan club tickets to a show like the last few years, do you just mail back peoples money orders and say sorry?
...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...
Wow, I guess you missed my point. Seeing as it is OVER 3 MONTHS AWAY, it gave me plenty of time to plan for that week. And more time if you consider the rumors started months ago. I know a lot of people need to plan things out over a year in advance. I am not lurking, it was just easy not to scheudle things that week until I know more. I did not have to lurk at a computer to do that.
I can usually make plans rather quickly and I didn't miss your point. However, it is difficult to plan on rumored dates when TC should be ones who plan in advance! Just a thought...

There's no perfect method. I think the changes have been due to PJ management trying to find the best way.
2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City

I would rather the block method where it mattered where you were in line. You guys remember that? I enjoyed meeting new people in 'line'!

Yup, I hope they do what they feel is best. They should just make the specturm shows unlimited for fan club tickets during the window tickets are on sale or the shows sell out- which ever happens first.

NOOOO!! Standing for hours in line, because the longer you stood in line, the better your tickets were? It's much better to have them determined beforehand.
The 98 mail order system had them determined by when your mail order came it. The current system has them in order of seniority. Both of these methods allow for you to enjoy touring the city... with other PJ fans, if you're so inclined!

Anywho, I agree with D2D - while it's lucky for those of us who have easy access, it's an unfair advantage. It's actually easier for me to buy tickets IN work - guaranteed a decent, fast and work connection to buy them.
the only problem with the lottery or mail order systems is that they are not transparent
who knows what really goes on when they process or "randomly select" people for tickets???
there was rampant favoritism when the dead used to do its mail orders back in the day
by lottery I mean how they did the EV shows, not giving up the first two rows for random assignment-which I continue to favor
there is no perfect method
but an advance online sale seems to be the best way to insure everyone has a fair shot at 10C tix

But I've had it a number of times where I have tickets in my Shopping Cart in Goods, and I click Checkout... and poof, gone, never to return... and shut out of TC tickets. Ten Club's system current online selling is about as accurate as throwing a ping-pong ball into a fish bowl from 10 feet away. It's just as random as the postcard lottery, just unintentionally and due to a poor working server.

hahahahaha...indeed!
and it was fun, but yea....preparty in verona was FAR more fun!
you absolutely have to take the entire day off from work, or use up a good chunk of your vacation day, whatever....to do that. there are pros/cons to any system, but i would say simply that americans have grown quite accustomed to assigned seating, whether thru TM tix or the 10c....and only small venue shows go the free-for-all.
actually, i still prefer buying my tix from home. if it ain't broke, why fix it? i have a great home connection and while i would assume i have a great connection at work, i still feel it's faster at home...or simply, no distractions, no 'worries' of someone coming up to me right in the midst of it with work to do right NOW. however, this time around...unless the sale is over the weekend - quite unlikely - i will have to try my luck at work. at least it's july and not mid-august or early september, b/c then it would be impossible. i could try and get mr. dream to do so, but he is not well versed in the nuances of trying for 10c tix, and alas...i also think he'd give up too easily.
but yea...bottomline, it is unfair advantage to those of us with all-day access and quick-access simple due to the nature of our work.

If you had problems with the recent PJ ticket sales, outside of being too late, you're not very patient or smart.
This was for DC 2006. Got them in my cart after refreshing for like 20 minutes, then when attempting to checkout the tickets got lost. Then I refreshed for 75 more minutes as it said "Temporarily Out Of Stock" and then "Sold Out".
You're intriguing me... what exactly would you have done differently?

there's the rub - no one will ever tell you.
like to point out that you're none too smart or patient....but no one ever gives you the 'tips' as what to do.
i'm just gettin' old....i seemingly 'forget' all the tips i've been told/learned, hahaha.....but i'm not complaining, i've been very fortunate. however, you just never know wtf is gonna happen with each sale, especially for shows in the NE!
They are deciding between puting them up right away and everyone crying about that, or setting a date and the site crashing and everyone crying about that.
I love it when the funny guy throws in!!
Thanks for some truth pjsteelerfan!!
PEARL JAM in 2024! Dark Matter and MORE ! THANK YOU!! Peace Love & Pearl Jam forever!!
Not sure about 06. I waited a day for Chicago 1 and 2 and got tix to both shows.
The site will be a bit jammed for a very short time, but after it should be a breeze.
I can see the gripes with the immediate sales, but that really plays into the most fervent fans' hands.
I agree it was easy, but that was one of the first just pop them up there attempts...now more ppl expect it...Also seating capacity makes somewhat of a difference in this case...

Dewie shouldn't assume people aren't patient or smart because TC's system is fucked up. Again - I would LOVE to know what he would have done differently that would have made him more successful (and apparently smarter) than I. Is 2006 not a recent enough show?
BTW - Superfuzz are you this guy?

dont forget that Chicago is Sunday/Monday, and it's Chicago (only city within 2 hours is Milw).
Philly is Wed-Sat and everyone from Boston/NY/NJ will be trying for these shows as well.
the more bullshit we have to go through, the more I am thinking it's not worth it. even with 128xxx our seats wont be great. MSG2003 we were about 25th row on the floor, and that was WITH other surrounding shows.

THAT would be AWESOME!
and is my wish and hope as well!
One can hope, but with the way they sold the EV tickets, I'm not holding my breath.
It would just be nice to know.
I'd rather pay an additional $10 service fee on top of normal service fees if they did the presale thru TM with our membership numbers as passwords if it meant we could have 24 hours notice. The only reason I believe they do it this way is to save their website from crashing, while TM doesn't seem to have that problem. ...let someone who can do it right sell the tickets.

Maybe you need a lesson at fish bowl pong

Thanks for some truth pjsteelerfan!!
Peace Love & Pearl Jam forever!!
United Center: 23,500
Spectrum: 18,369
