They play their entire second LP live at the Third Man from like May 2010. It's on blue/black vinyl and wow. Just wow.www.cluthelee.com0 -
You guys did see that the 1st 3 WS reissues are on their way, right? And they're gonna be as good as you can get these days. Full on analog mastering.
Patiently waiting for Get Behind Me Satan.
Out-of-print in North America since 2005, the utmost care was taken in presenting these records in the best way possible.
We started by mastering each LP from the original analog master tapes, the first time this process had been used for any of these titles. While extremely labor-intensive, this method ensured that the material was never converted into a digital signal. The result is an audio quality that stiffens the hairs on the back of your neck.
We pressed each record on 180-gram vinyl, again, the first time any of these three albums have been afforded this superior vinyl weight.
For artwork, we started from scratch and went back and tracked down all the source material, working from the original photographic prints to provide the crispest versions possible of these album covers.
From there, we printed the artwork on the deluxe old-style, tip-on sleeves from the wonderful folks at Stoughton Printing in California. This process involves printing the artwork on on sheet of paper (a slick) which is then folded over and hand-glued to a heavy board blank jacket. The difference in the final product of a tip-on sleeve as opposed to a regular, direct-to-board sleeve is akin to the difference between hardcover and paperback books.
Also, for the first time ever, each record comes with a coupon for MP3 downloads of the entire album.
All these factors together makes these versions of The White Stripes, De Stijl and White Blood Cells the DEFINITIVE editions of these albums. These are the versions The White Stripes want people to have for posterity.
And to tickle the collectors, we pressed limited numbers of each title on split-color red and white vinyl. All three albums will be available on black vinyl for purchase from our online store starting on November 30th. The split-color and black vinyl of The White Stripes S/T LP will be available for purchase on November 30th in our Third Man Records store front, with the split-color and black vinyl of De Stijl and White Blood Cells to follow on December 7th and December 14th, respectively.
***We will do 250 copies of each split color vinyl in our Third Man store, 100 in random mailorders, and 100 of each release in a remote location related to each album the S/T LP in Detroit, De Stijl in the Netherlands, and White Blood Cells in Memphis. More details of those locations TBA... So stay tuned!!0 -

I am not all that knowledgeable on mastering or vinyl, so what gives with going back to analog recording? why is that better?Gimli 1993

It keeps the full dynamic range. The music is as close as possible to the original source of the music, not converted back and forth analog>to digital>back to analog. I dunno all the ins and outs, just what my ears like.0 -

I'm definitely going to buy the reissues on black vinyl. I've given up on the split colors, if one comes in great, if not oh well. It used to get me worked up only to be dissapointed every time. Yeah you do, If you look in the right spot. TMR will usually tell vault members what going to be in the next package a few weeks before the deadline (from my recent experience anyways)...most people take this info and post it on general WS forums. Check the little room or White Swirl and you can find what you're looking for.0 -

Got my latest vault package and I must say its the least impressive of all so far. The Greenhornes album sounds great, but the package in whole is not all that.0

I agree. I love the design of the shirt, but it's see through. The single is badass. The lp is kinda weak. It doesn't really feel TOO short, but it's barely 20 minutes.0 -
they cant always be 10/10..
agree with the t-shirt comment...get looking but very thin..
over all i give this a 7/10 and that mostly down to the 7" and t<img src="http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx46/tremors25/thefixerthrilla1.gif" align="left">
