What's the story with this tune? B-side to Not for You played only twice live - seems to me they could revive this into a killer live one...even work it into a tag or something.

    ive asked this many times before. noone seems to be able to answer. i listen to it all the time and never get sick of it. has such a great melody to it. could be a killer tune if they made a studio cut. wish i knew more about it too. sorry couldnt help.

    It would be stellar to hear this live! Just a gorgeous song.

    I've suspected there was some reason why they have only played it twice. But it has been a long, long time since. Maybe they've gotten closure :D

    They've revived "Brother!" They could do the same for this song.

    I listen to it heaps too. Just luuuuuuuuuuurve it!! Would kill to hear it live!!!

    good question/post op.

    to me I kinda like that it's this little lost gem. Makes me hold on to the single cd. Because let's face it..most of the b-sides that are not live are on Lost Dogs, and it's easier to listen to the lot that way. of course something could be said about a single's artwork/cover/photos. but for this one, and maybe one of two others (Leatherman comes to mind) it's nice to have a real good reason to go to the single!

    Dozens on the official boots, some of them played more than once. They are not structured songs, they're improvs. It's a kind of silly request. Why would they want to re-create a loose improv from 1994 in the year 2009?

    I don't think it is a loose improv - maybe structured improv. Given that they'd decided to actually release it as a b-side tells me that PJ sees it more than just an improv jammed out at a random show...anyways, was just wondering what happened to this song. They've revived many tunes over the past few years touring - no reason this can't be another.

    Out of my mind has always been my favorite B-Side and i would absolutely love to hear them play it live again. Another song like this that i would go nuts over would be Open Road!

    Definately not an improv at 4+ minutes and played the same way twice... Saw them play it in Springfieldin 94.

    Anyways Im down for hearing them bring it back!!!

    It is an officially released improv. The Not For You singles sleeve lists the song as:

    "Track 2 Live Improv Atlanta, GA April 2, 1994"

    I think of it as a fleshed out improv, a song they were playing around with but then dropped it.

    I dont care if it's "just an improv". So what? It sounds great and would be worth playing live.
