the tickets for 2013 which was sept/oct went on sale on july 27th. ten club a week or so before that so if there is ANY fall tour, it would be announced in the june newsletter but with the lack of any rumors at all, no radio hints, 0 word of venue holdings, ect... it doesnt look good. im just hoping for an east coast one off at this point. or even mid west.
If I could create a timeline (selfishly), here is what I would do....
Ed finishes his tour Couple weeks for the band to work solo Then a couple of weeks in the studio for the band Ed does some September shows Band back in studio after that, prob Nov-Dec. Spring 18 release of album Tour dates, 2 legs, next summer and fall.
I would sign up for that right now

I dont think it's a far stretch to think that Temple of the Dog had some new material in the works and that some of those might make their way onto a Pearl Jam record in the future

I haven't heard anything about that. Chris sounded a bit pessimistic about doing another album. We do know Soundgarden had made a lot of progress on their new album.
As for PJ, all we know is that they were in the studio recently (without a drummer), but I'm not expecting anything soon.
Mike said today at the NYC signing that they are not currently working on any music. Take that as you will.
He really made it seem like they are nowhere near releasing anything. Boo!
Well shit. That sucks.
Any talk of shows?
Didn't mention shows, he said Matt was likely going through some stuff understandably and he hadn't had a chance to talk to him since.
They don't sound like they've been regrouping recently folks.
Someone asked what he thought about playing full albums at a show and which album he would personally choose. Mike said he had mixed feelings about playing full albums but after some deliberation kind of blurred out "I guess I would pick... Yield". But noted, as we already know, Eddie is usually feeling out each show and selecting set lists.

Well... as much as I want to hear something about a new album at least he gave an honest answer so we can adjust our expectations.

Told us what we already knew, but some couldn't admit. It is a myth that a record takes so long to make. It only takes a long time when not a priority.
who ever said a record takes a long time to make? everyone knows a record takes as long as you want it to. it's the post-production that can take some time, depending on what you want your product to look like. and having promotional appearances and tours organized prior to release date. I know bands who write and record an album in 2 weeks and then release a couple months later. but this band don't live in the same state, they have side projects and other things outside of the band. who knows how often each of them even write songs.
it's always funny to me when someone claims they "knew" something only because their opinion prior to knowing the facts turned out to be true. you didn't know anything. you thought something and it turned out to be right. there's a difference.
but I'm still confused. Stone said not long ago that they were busy writing in seattle. now mike says nothing is being done.
Chris was about as close to a member of this band as you can get. I would expect them to finish pending obligations, regroup separately with family and then gather as a group and see where they are all at...I hope.

Whether I knew it because of evidence or intuition, my thought was correct. People got excited about what Stone said in that interview (I watched it), but I could see that it was just a standard answer to a question on the radio when you don't want to either say what your plans are or you have no plans at all. There usually are rumors of tour dates months before and right now there is nothing out there. So, based on my intuition I thought it was a safe bet to assume there wouldn't be anything to see for 2017 from the band. There is still time to announce a quick fall tour and be proven wrong, but so far I'm more right than wrong.
Also, I read all the time on here that a record takes a lot of time to make and it is tough to coordinate everyone's schedules. The truth is (like you point out above) that a record gap takes as long as the band wants it to. IF they were all fired up to make a record it would be done. But they aren't, and that is perfectly fine after being a band for 26 years.
I would consider news of a US solo tour for Ed to be of great value.
So hoping for this!

Somebody pointed out (another thread I think) that the EV 2017 tour shirts in Europe include Europe dates and the US festivals. That doesn't seem like more US dates are likely.
