i never really heard any of the hole albums, it may have to do with the fact that courtney is a witch, but i always did like they're cover of 'gold dust woman'.

I just love the way everybody seems to know Courtney better than they do any other celebrity. Also the complete faith these people have in tabloid media, what trusting people they are.......

Anyway, since this thread is supposed to be for fans of Hole, here's one of my favourites from Celebrity Skin:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=mUu_cY8TM5Q

    Dying

    You see the cripple dance
    Pay your money, baby
    Now's your chance
    Eyes like cyanide

    I am so dumb
    Just beam me up
    I've had it all forever
    I've had enough

    Remember, you promised me
    I'm dying, I'm dying, please
I want to, I need to be
    Under your skin

    Our love is quicksand
    So easy to drown
    They steal the gravity, yeah
    From moving ground

    Remember, you promised me
    I'm dying, I'm dying, please
I want to, I need to be
    Under your skin

    And now I understand
    You leave with everything
You leave with everything I am
    Withering

And now I know that love is dead
    You've come to bury me
There's nothing left here to pretend
    Anything

    Remember, you promised me
    I'm dying, I'm dying, please
I want to, I need to be
    Under your skin

    I'm dying, I'm dying, please (3 x's)
    Under your skin

    Under your skin

'Live through This' is amazing and i think 'Celebrity Skin' is vastly underrated.

'live through this' was an amazing album only because kurt cobain wrote all the songs. regardless of what you think of him he was an amazing song writer.

What on earth makes you think he wrote all the songs? They don't sound like Nirvana, and you know there were actually other people in the band?

    I'm a big Courtney/Hole fan

I been kinda excited about her new album but I'm scared she's overthinking it and its gonna go the same way as Chinese Democracy. She needs to trust her instincts more but then I guess it must be hard when you are absolutely vilified.

Its kinda interesting that when most people criticise Courtney it seems to come accross as nothing more articulate than illeducated, vile misogyny

I hope i'm not in the most category :)

If she never put out that nirvana box set she could've had a few good songs for her new record!

btw.....you know I'm kidding overseas friend.

the big deal? he would have killed himself before he ever let his name be used to sell merchandise for some corporation, even if he wore said merchandise.

personally i wouldnt care if it were me, but if i had a wife who hated the whole commercialism thing and I knew without a doubt that she would never want her name to appear on a shoe made by 12 year olds in Vietnam, i sure as hell wouldnt spit on her grave by pimping her name out to make a quick buck.

Apologies, I didn't realise you were such a close friend of Kurt's.........

Whether people want to accept it or not, Kurt is a cultural icon, in the same way that Elvis, James Dean, Sid Vicious and any other rock star or celebrity who died young is. Kurt was kind of the ultimate misfit, and that's why so many teenagers identified with him and his music. Whether he wanted any of this is besides the point, he chose his career path, he chose the music and themes he wanted to sing about and he chose to end his life (please let's not have a murder/conspiracy debate in this thread). People making money from his image is inevitable, and in all honesty a pair of shoes dedicated to him, made by a company he essentially endorsed whilst alive, is hardly the worst thing going. It's not like his music is being used in a commercial for coke, or indeed just regular converse.

its not inevitable, all she has to do is say no.

But like i said, it really doesnt matter to me, but it says a lot about her and how shitty a person she is.

Well that would be if everybody agreed it was wrong. I think you need to pull the emotion out of it for a second and look at the big picture. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal - and if you think it is, then perhaps you should read the news more often, cause there's plenty worse shit going on around the world. In all honesty, I don't see how this is any different from the $200 Pearl Jam poster book. Both items are only going to appeal to hardcore fans anyway.
  • hey if any of you want to pay me to put my scribblings on your shoes, i'm open to offers!

i dont totally agree with all that grunge, anti-corporate stuff either, but its pretty obvious Cobain did. And since its his name being used (without his permission for obvious reasons), it doesnt matter if everyone else is cool with it.

Yeah back in 1994 he did, who's to say what he would think now? It's been 15 years, and like I said the shoes are dedicated to him, it's not like they are using his image or music to sell regular converse.

Personally I wouldn't be seen dead in a pair, they look tacky, and in all honesty I don't think I've seen anybody wearing them anyway.....

I heard courtney love is scrapping her solo album to work on a project with the guitarist from now disbanded larrikin love. I really liked larrikin love but im not sure how on earth these two met up, its one of the strangest ideas for a combo ive ever heard. http://www.myspace.com/larrikinlove
People say im paranoid. Well, they dont say it, but i know that's what they are thinking.

I've always liked Hole despite the constant bashing of Courtney. She may be a nutbag but she made some good music.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

And so you see, I have come to doubt

    I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

Haha, kudos on pulling up a ten year old thread! It was really weird reading my past comments, though I still stand by them! And cheers for the heads up on the Live Through This reissue, I've just pre-ordered. I saw a few days ago that the original members were all hanging out together, I wonder if a reunion is on the cards......
