    I still find myself listening to AIC today, but hardly ever listen to Nirvanna.

    AIC it is for me.
    Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
    arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
    slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
    body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a

    I like all three for different reasons.

    Soundgarden's chris cornell was probably the most powerful vocalist of that time (sorry eddie, no offense).Just listen to Temple of the dog's Say hello 2 heaven from beginning to end and you'll know what I mean.

    Alice in chains was just so different from the othe grunge bands. They had more of a folk undertone than the rest. No one can reproduce that haunting sound that they did.

    Nirvana put the most energy and emotion into everything they did. Kurt really really felt what he wrote. And if anyone gets the chance read kurt Cobain Journals and you will hear Nirvana completely different.

    In the heyday of the top 4, my order was PJ, Nirvana, Soundgarden & AIC.

    Nowadays, it's PJ, AIC, Nirvana & Soundgarden.

    Over the years I have grown to like Nirvana a lot more, but the other 2 have blown me away for a while. No matter the rankings, I was quite upset to see all 3 bands meet an early demise for one reason or another. Seem slike most bands from that time, except Pearl Jam, have faded away or no longer exist.

    AIC.

    I still feel that DIRT was the true culmination of all that was good
    about Grunge/Seattle Music at that time. No two songs sound alike.

    I mean, think about this - Sick Man and Would? are on the Same album.
    Down in a Hole and Angry Chair are on the album as well.

    Them Bones, Rooster, and it goes on and on.

    And I think my favorite song of all time is Rain When I Die.

    And their first four releases are all just so awesome:

    Facelift
    Sap
    DIRT
    Jar of Flies

    AIC without a doubt.

    Tough decision between AIC and Soundarden.
    I don't think it gets much better than Down in a Hole unplugged.

    i cant decide between between alice in chains and soundgarden...I love them both...

    respect nirvana too, just like AIC and SG more

    As much as I love and respect them all, Soundgarden takes it for me. Soundgarden and Pearl Jam have always held the top spot for me and there is such an undying love and not to mention the sheer brilliance of that band..definitely there. However, Alice in Chains and their ways of incorporating the darkness and yet giving that illumination off was incredible. and of course Nirvana, with their writhing passion for what was being done..each and all i love, But I will give it to Soundgarden by all means.

    Soundgarden all the way. No one compares to Chris Cornell. He's awesome, even with Audioslave. All of Soundgarden's albums rock. AIC would be my 2nd pick, and Nirvana... I never ever really liked them. Still don't.

    Alice in Chains were better than the other two for sure. Much better and writing and singing melodies than most of their contemporaries. Soundgarden is great too but have too much of a Judas Priest vocal thing going on for me to listen to all the time. Don't get me wrong, songs like Outshined and Fell on Black Days are great. Nirvana = most overrated band of all time. Probably gonna get some feedback on that one but I stick to my guns on this issue. Nevermind as one of the top albums of all time? Fuck that.
