    I went and checked out Strung Out's website...they sound like every other band that calls themselves "punk" today.

    saying the ramones were an offshoot of 70's rock is as assinine as saying PJ was an offshoot of seattle grunge. the ramones were pioneers of US punk .... how can they be an offshoot.

    Strung Out is definitely far from being the Greatest Punk Rock Band of All Time...

    I think the guys from The Clash, Social Distortion, Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains, Propagandhi, The Melvins and dozens of other bands would have something to say about that.

    And above all that, the best punk rock ever will not be found in a CD store, it will be found in a dingy bar, being played by a group of people you've never heard of and most likely will never be heard of by anyone.

    Having conducted extensive research (I spent at least three minutes on youtube), I've come to the inevitable conclusion that Fountains of Wayne are a better punk band than Strung Out.

    I think that while footage like this exists, any suggestion that Strung Out are the best punk band ever is bordering on offensive.
