Traynor YCV40WR...Review

I do not have pictures for it yet, I will in about an hour (my battery for the camera has to charge).
I first checked out the overdrive channel. I first played it and I said to myself "this is kind of dull"....then i turned up the gain to about 8 and then put the volume from 1/2 to about 2...then the magic happened
People related the OD channel to the Marshall Plexi OD, i dont, it doesnt sound like it, but man, it sounds so fucking great!! I can get rid of my DS-2 now!! There is a boost feature which is perfect for solos. As said in the discription, there is no hum or noise at all!! the only time there was hum or noice or even feedback, was when i put the TS9 through it. Now that with the TS9 was gorgeous!
Now over the clean channel that is supposed to be God like. Again, had to turn the volume up to about 1 1/2 or 2 for it to really sound great.
THE CLEAN CHANNEL IS TO DIE FOR!!!

i dont know what else to say about it, i put the ts9 through that, that sounded great...i changed the EQ knobs, no matter what (unless all on 0) the clean channel sounded BEAUTIFUL....i used the "brightness" button on the clean channel, sounds good but really isnt needed
the only problem with the clean channel is that the bass EQ needs to be either 3 or lower....anything higher than that makes the room shake
the reverb is decent, but i dont care i dont like reverb....theres a presence control knob too, which is nice
the amp is HUGE compared to what it is in the pictures online...ill post a pic of my old amp compared to the Traynor...its GORGEOUS too in looks
Overall - one of the best amps i have ever played!! The 450$ i spent on ebay for it is a joke, this thing should be starting at $2000...even for 650$ new, thats a steal
***BUY THIS AMP IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW AMP***
PS: does anyone have an EQ settings that they thing are good? i didnt have EQ settings on my old amp
Coming Soon: Pictures
I need to buy some new cables to hook up all my pedals...
Edit: the 40 watts is perfect for practicing and gigs/jamming with people...i was afraid it would be too loud considering i live in an apartment

Very happy that you like it.
For the OD channel, I find that it will sound better with more mids and less treble. On my YVC80 I set it at: Treble-4 Mid-7 bass-6
The clean channel Eq is variable from guitar to guitar. I agree about the bass though, they should make it lower. It kinda takes away from the definition of the amp.
CLIPS!!!! ? Please?0 -

treb: 8
bass: 2

You'll also be surprised at the number of different tones you can get with it too. If you put a distortion box in front of it, you'll have even more.
With the boost on, you can get some pretty kick ass solo sounds, but I usually just use a D box to give it an extra edge.
Also, you can post clips on http://www.soundclick.com and that yousendit site, and digital sound planet, but it might require you to pay a bit. Myspace.com will also do it.
Your best bet is to just google web hosting and find something there.

The neighbours called? I've heard that be called magic before

From hearing my buddys amp, I'd never even dream to compare the over drive of the traynor to a Marshal Plexi, or any Marshall for that matter.
I think the Traynor is closer to my 212 Bel Air Carvin. Here comes the Carvin slams, Thats right I play thru a Carvin. And if I didn't have a Carvin I'd be playing through a Peavey classic 50, so thats life!!!E. I'm totally jealous that you got such an awesome amp with a good clean and great overdrive for so cheap."I had a false belief I thought I came here to stay... we're all just visiting."0

Hail Hail, good review. I am the proud owner of a YCV40, which I run thru a 2x12 cab with greenbacks. I totally agree with you 100%. Bang for the buck, the best amp on the market. I've had mine for about a year now and it does everything well......bedroom levels, gigs, practice, you name it. I still can't get over the warmth of the clean channel!
Anyhow, congrats and enjoy!Cause I'll stop trying to make a difference. I'm not trying to make a difference. I'll stop trying to make a difference. No way!0 -
i was just curious is that alot of difference between the YCV40WR and the YCV20WR because for my house and all i'd prefer a smaller amp.....?? thanks"i wanna rock and roll **all night**, and part of everyday"0

the 40 is 40 watts
the 20 is 15 watts
i think i would have been better off with the 15 watts, but whatever
the 15 watt version is smaller in size as well
im assuming the sound and everything is the same2003: Uniondale, MSG x2 | 2004: Reading | 2005: Gorge, Vancouver, Philly | 2006: East Rutherford x2, Gorge x2, Camden 1, Hartford | 2008: MSG x2, VA Beach | 2009: Philly x3 | 2010: MSG x2, Bristow | 2011: Alpine Valley x2 | 2012: MIA Philly | 2013: Wrigley, Charlottesville, Brooklyn 2 | 2014: Milan, Amsterdam 1 | 2016: MSG x2, Fenway x2, Wrigley 2 | 2018: Rome, Krakow, Berlin, Wrigley 2 | 2021: Sea Hear Now | 2022: San Diego, LA x2, MSG, Camden, Nashville, St. Louis, Denver | 2023: St. Paul 1, Chicago x2, Fort Worth x2, Austin 2 | 2024: Las Vegas 1, Seattle x2, Indy, MSG x2, Philly x2, Baltimore, Ohana 2 | 2025: Florida x2, Atlanta x2, Pittsburgh x20
