I do not have pictures for it yet, I will in about an hour (my battery for the camera has to charge).
I first checked out the overdrive channel. I first played it and I said to myself "this is kind of dull"....then i turned up the gain to about 8 and then put the volume from 1/2 to about 2...then the magic happened
People related the OD channel to the Marshall Plexi OD, i dont, it doesnt sound like it, but man, it sounds so fucking great!! I can get rid of my DS-2 now!! There is a boost feature which is perfect for solos. As said in the discription, there is no hum or noise at all!! the only time there was hum or noice or even feedback, was when i put the TS9 through it. Now that with the TS9 was gorgeous!
Now over the clean channel that is supposed to be God like. Again, had to turn the volume up to about 1 1/2 or 2 for it to really sound great.
THE CLEAN CHANNEL IS TO DIE FOR!!!
i dont know what else to say about it, i put the ts9 through that, that sounded great...i changed the EQ knobs, no matter what (unless all on 0) the clean channel sounded BEAUTIFUL....i used the "brightness" button on the clean channel, sounds good but really isnt needed
the only problem with the clean channel is that the bass EQ needs to be either 3 or lower....anything higher than that makes the room shake
the reverb is decent, but i dont care i dont like reverb....theres a presence control knob too, which is nice
the amp is HUGE compared to what it is in the pictures online...ill post a pic of my old amp compared to the Traynor...its GORGEOUS too in looks
Overall - one of the best amps i have ever played!! The 450$ i spent on ebay for it is a joke, this thing should be starting at $2000...even for 650$ new, thats a steal
***BUY THIS AMP IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW AMP***
PS: does anyone have an EQ settings that they thing are good? i didnt have EQ settings on my old amp
Coming Soon: Pictures
I need to buy some new cables to hook up all my pedals...
Edit: the 40 watts is perfect for practicing and gigs/jamming with people...i was afraid it would be too loud considering i live in an apartment

For the OD channel, I find that it will sound better with more mids and less treble. On my YVC80 I set it at: Treble-4 Mid-7 bass-6
The clean channel Eq is variable from guitar to guitar. I agree about the bass though, they should make it lower. It kinda takes away from the definition of the amp.
CLIPS!!!! ? Please?
if i can find somewhere to post it i would do the clips
yeah on the OD channel, the treble is strong but on the clean channel the bass is stronger
right now my OD settings are
Gain: 8
Treb: 6
bass: 4.5
mid: 7
clean:
treb: 8
bass: 2
mid: 4.5
With the boost on, you can get some pretty kick ass solo sounds, but I usually just use a D box to give it an extra edge.
Also, you can post clips on http://www.soundclick.com and that yousendit site, and digital sound planet, but it might require you to pay a bit. Myspace.com will also do it.
Your best bet is to just google web hosting and find something there.
I use Soundclick, but it takes a bit of setting up.
yeah ill check them out, i already have a myspace profile...
i just need to jam more to this....its great, my ears hurt!
The neighbours called? I've heard that be called magic before
Seriously at 2 and 8 that must have been pretty loud on a 40 watt amp.
I miss you already, I miss you all day
yeah 2 was fucking loud...its at 1 now and its loud enough, lol
I think the Traynor is closer to my 212 Bel Air Carvin. Here comes the Carvin slams, Thats right I play thru a Carvin. And if I didn't have a Carvin I'd be playing through a Peavey classic 50, so thats life!!!

So wait, 2 as in 2/10 on a dial, or 2 oclock?
I thought you meant 2 oclock.
I miss you already, I miss you all day

you can still get a great one of these through ebay for 500$ or brand new for 650
the clean channel is by far better than the OD, but the OD is great, just u need to have certain settings and that is what im trying out now....i got my settings good with the clean, now i need to find some for the OD
edit: i cant get a freakin OD setting i like
this is the comparison, lol
gain 9.5
treb 8
bass 6
mid 7.5
edit:
if i use the pickup on the neckthrough the OD settings i get the EXACT not for you tone
Anyhow, congrats and enjoy!
the 40 is 40 watts
the 20 is 15 watts
i think i would have been better off with the 15 watts, but whatever
the 15 watt version is smaller in size as well
im assuming the sound and everything is the same
I noticed traynor just came out with an EL34 powered version the "50 blue" I believe. same vintage 30 and all. I'd like to this one out too.
Too vague man. Maybe your buddy doesn't know how to get the great sounds, or his guitar stinks. I don't know.
What I do know is that I've seen people take the amp, crank up the gain, put on the boost, crank the treble and bass and zero the mids. That sounds bad.
In fairness, that sounds bad on just about everything save maybe a Mesa.
the dreaded tone descriptive words. Traynors are good amps we know this. Fact is they can't sound like a Plexi regardless of guitar because the structure of the amp itself is just not wired that way, also the Vintage 30 while also excellent is nice warm and velvety but not the ceramic greenbacks most often paired with "Plexi's" of the late 60's.
It may indeed sound a bit like a modern marshall (1980's to the present) but it's pretty tough to get that plexi tone without actually cranking a plexi.
well it doesnt even sound like the 87 plexi reissue (which my friend has)...
as well as the 50 blue...ah, this 40 watt amp is loud as fuck, i dont think you need the blue....again though once u get the amp to volume 1 then you get the real sounds its supposed to have (i put it to 2.5 and it was insanity, imagine what it is on freakin 5 or even like 9 or10 ), i found my settings last night although im gonna mess around some more with them
the manual gives u settings to start with, and the clean settings they give you sound gorgeous but the OD settings are soso, maybe its just me...but i found my OD settings and it sounds great...
Gain 9
treb 8
bass 6.5
mids 7
sounds great to me!!
another thing that is really a big effect to your sound is the presence knob, i really didnt htink it would have THAT much effect to it, but it does....i have that set on 9...once u get to 10 your ears hurt when you play on the B and e, haha...but once set too low it sounds like your out of tune while on your neck pickup, haha....but with my OD settings and the neck pick up on the strat i got the exact Not For You tone
im really not too impressed with the TS9....on the clean channel it just sounds blah...and then through the OD it gives so much feedback its rediculous
yeah i knew about the sizes and watts, i just want to make sure the features and sound is similar because i've heard alot of good about this Traynor you got.
yeah my guess is that it would, its the same model line, still won an award of itself...i would get it!
hmmmm
maybe you could replace the speaker?
im getting tones out of my guitar i didnt know i could get
amazing how much more expressive and harmonic the amp becomes isn't it.
The 10 watt difference between the 40 watt and the 50 watt is really not all that great in terms of volume depending on how you choose to run it. Adding a speaker cab with more speakers would make it considerably louder because more air would be moved but essentially the tube character is what will really be noticeable. It just depends on the sound you prefer especially when the power tubes begin to be overdriven. EL34's generally tend to have a tighter bass response with lower head room than the 6L6. 5881's have even more headroom. 6L6's yield a beautiful esoteric glassy clean tone we all know and love. EL34's provide the warm wooly british overdrive tone we all know and love.
