MIG or anyone else. Keep your eyes open for a new/ used 2 X 12 cabinet for me to buy on E-bay, if you wouldn't mind. or even a 1 X 12 cab if it kicks some major a**!. Has to be rated at either 8 or 16 ohms. Thanks guys

A Theile-design Mesa cab would work nicely as a 1x12".

    There are a shit-ton.

That is a technical term, for those who were wondering.

There are a lot of 1/2-back and 3/4-back 1x12" cabs, too... didn't see any Theile cabs, but there were a bunch last week. Keep watching. Might be harder to find something in Canada...

I still put a good word in for the Peavey 1x12" cabs with the closed-back and the Sheffield speaker.

No, but the Head I am getting only has 8 ohm and 16 ohm jacks for a single cabinet.

No, it affects the electrical efficiency of the system. If you match the resistance (measured in ohms) of the amp AND cabinet, you have ideal efficiency. If the cab has more resistance than the amp (higher ohms) then the amp will have to work harder, but will be okay (unless you are really cranking it up). If the speaker cab is lower resistance than the amp, then it's like putting water in a bucket with a buncha holes... the amp can't keep up with what the cabinet is drawing, and *poof!* black smoke... RIP, Mr. Amp.

Some folks out there will tell you there is a minimal tonal difference between the same speakers of different ohmages... but it's hardly worth thinking about. Negligable. I've heard that some Celestions are made differently, like the 8-ohm versions are made in Britain, but the 16-ohm versions are made in Asia, but I'm not really clear on that... those might make a difference in tone, though.

an 8 ohm, 2 X 12 cabinet would be ideal for me....I'm trying to stay away from Marshalls and am looking into my other options.

it might even be worth looking at traynors new stuff. their amps are tanks so i'd imagine the cabinets are pretty good too. speaker upgrades can always be made.

    it might be more cost-effective.

Believe me... I KNOW I did. But I want to be as selective with the cab as a was with the head and my guitar. As long as you guys don't mind sending me these...I don't mind looking. I might take me a month to find exactly what I'm looking for, but so be it.

Find a couple speakers, and this is a great cab to put 'em in:

Here, I'll make it even easier on you guys....the removeable back panel definately something I am interested in. I haven't decided on which kind of speaker yet though....black shadow, vintage 30, greenback, eminence...no Idea. It would be cool to have the option of an open or a closed back though.

Basson is making a name for themselves... I'm not an Eminence fan, but...

you want closed for your sound. more focused, tighter sound. Go with a closed back if you only have one option.

And, because he won't ship to Canada, I'll post it to piss you off:

Out of all of those, I like the Groove Tubes best, followed by the Orange and the Marshall. The GT cab has the removable panel on the back... if you wanted, you could always cut the back of any cab and have it be removable, but you'd probably have to get extra tolex and re-do one of the two pieces. I'm 110% sure you want a closed back cab, but the option is nice to have.
