    And in other news?
Yesterday, after 8 months here? Kathy and I found a CHINESE JOINT!! GREAT EGG FOO YOUNG!!!

    A BIG DAY!!!

    It took 8 months? Hahaha
    This is good news.
I have a buddy who relocated to Houston after med school, first thing he wants to do every time he comes home to MA for a visit is go for Chinese food as he says there are no good places in Houston area. We are spoiled here (as I'm sure you were in Chicago) with decent restaurant options in a number of different styles. Some parts of the country not so much.
    This weekend we rock Portland

It made me insane that I couldnt get decent Chinese outside of Disney. Animal Kingdom has a Chinese restaurant that is FUCKING SPECTACULAR! But I couldnt find a Chinese joint down the street, that delivered?

New Yorkers favorite wine? I wanna move to Florida! Like all places, there are pros and cons. My wife and I talk about it more and more as we get older. We will probably never leave New York. We like it too much and we have a good situation that combines city and suburban life with plenty of outdoor spaces. Seriously, it is like a Ralph Lauren ad. Minus the vintage Range Rovers.

I have a client retiring to Lake Gaston on the VA/NC border. Seemed like a nice spot. They get some snow in the winter but it doesn't stick around long.

What’s the name and where is it? Places on 27 north of 192 are ‘underwhelming’. My go-to is Panda Express (sadly).

Nothing special to look at and your not going to dress up and take a date there on Saturday night.
But we dined in and the place was very clean and the waitress was extremely pleasant and good at her job.

    Everything we ordered was tremendous!
    Orange chicken
    Beef egg foo young
    Egg rolls
    Fried rice
    Wonton soup

    Delicious

We will be stopping there once a week on the way home from the parks to either dine in or bring it home.

We have a couple of decent chinese places. Lunch specials are probably the best deals around our area for take out food. Boneless ribs, fried rice, and beef chow fun all day long. With that hot mustard that clears your sinuses.

Kathy is a big fan of the lunch specials. She lives to get her bargains/discounts/sales. Haha

And I have never, in my life, seen her refuse a free refill on diet coke.

Thanks!  I rarely go to that area (bit far east) but I’ll have to try it sometime.

If you're looking for good Chinese food, I'd think far east is the place to go.

Grew up 2 towns over, been there innumerable times. The above story about my buddy who moved to Houston, Kowloon was the place. Every year we'd go there with him and his family on Thanksgiving weekend (usually 18-20 people) when he was home. His father knew the owner well and would be making his reservations for a large group for Christmas dinner (Jewish family) during that meal. His father (very successful pediatrician) must have spent 6 figures easily there over the years.

They did not go under. Still going strong. You should see the traffic there on NYE, absolutely insane. Their competition in Saugus, Weylu's went under after building a ginormous restaurant to rival the size of Kowloon (they used to do very well in a small restaurant about a half mile south of Kowloon).

Nice! I know all the spots around this great country of ours…if you hang with me you’ll never go home hungry. I remember going there 2 days in a row cause it was that good . The service is impeccable as well

glad they are thriving… look forward to my next visit.
