Anybody have any experience buying open box online?  Good/bad idea? Looking at a d28 open box thru guitar center, it's like $800 off.

i've bought used guitars online. i would just ask if there are any known issues with it, and ask for a bunch of pics beforehand. i would also ask for the return policy in case there is something you don't like about it.

Guitar Center is actually a great place to buy used/open. I had a guitar delivered to the store. I tried it out and didn't like it. I got an instant refund and ended up buying something they had in stock.

i remember i had two vintage amps i bought from two different guitar centers in texas and had them shipped to my local store in st louis. i took both home with the intention of playing them both for a few days and keeping just one. i think i had three days to bring the one back. i imagine if you have a guitar shipped to the store that might be the same policy. looking back i should have gone this route more often because not only did i have a good return policy but the financing terms were great as well.

I finished this one today. It is a Japanese Fender double bound alder body with an ESP maple neck, also from Japan. The pickups are Antiquity '55s and I used Wilkinson compensated bridge saddles. (The intonation can be set incredibly accurately with those things.) Weighs about 7.5 lbs.

Thanks guys. I was looking to make something more classic and traditional with this one. Most of my guitars are a little on the bold side visually.

I can't say enough good things about these ESP necks. This one feels like a an old friend already. I have been neglecting doing the things I should this weekend because I can't seem to put this one down.
