Beautiful! That's a great looking piece of mahogany for the body. Stunning grain on the back.

    Congratulations!

thanks man, i really do dig the grain on the back too. it is worth the wait for sure.

i played it for a few hours tonight. qc is great. just needs a few minor adjustments on the setup.

i am really happy with it. in the right light the top looks nearly black, and in the sun it is a vibrant green.

    sorry man!!!

i say if it will make you happy go ahead and get it. since it is rare you can always get your money back later if you need to.

that thing is much more impressive in person though. the pics don't really do it justice.

The new Fender Vintera Line looks pretty cool for getting vintage specs on a reasonably price (per today's standards ... $1250 - $1500)).  And they have models in the Sherwood Green Metallic!  I have my eye on the Jag ... it will be a race between Gibson and Fender on availability.

those look awesome. that strat is a beauty.

you would save a grand going that route. jags are fun, but i prefer gibsons because they are heavy and have humbuckers. i will say that the brg les paul is definitely worth the wait though. i very happy with it and can't put that thing down.

I may have to get both.  I have lots of Fenders.  I don't own a Gibson.  I had a goldtop Heritage H-150, made in Kalamazoo, years back but lost it in a fire.

I don't have a Jag either.  There is a string mute that I don't know if it is standard on Jags, but it looked neat.  I should be able to get at least 10% off Fender at some point or watch the used market for a deal.

The Eagle has landed.  Repeat, the Eagle has landed.

I'll let Gimme's pics be a point of reference as every thing is identical, (except the back grain ... mine is more tight-grained).  Just a beautiful color overall.

My initial impressions are very positive!  The slim taper neck feels great for someone used to 1.65 nut with Fender C shapes.  Great play-ability.  Weight-wise, this feels similar to my ash Tele that is just under 9 lbs.

The pickups are a big change from my Fenders and I should have lots of fun breaking this guitar in.  They sound great.

    Well done, Gibson.

hell yeah man!! congratulations! looks awesome!

i like how in certain lighting it almost looks black, while in other lighting it is green and you can almost see some gold flake in it.

the only thing i needed to do to mine was put some lemon oil on the fretboard, otherwise it was ready to go out of the box. hope you enjoy it. i have had a few other players, guys that are better than me, play it for a bit and everyone is in agreement that gibson in firing on all cylinders with these.
