Last night’s daily special at the bar near the practice space was Loco Moco. It did not disappoint.

Rainier.  I'd know that can anywhere.

Used to know an old timer that drank Olympia.  He used to call it "Nectar of the Gods".  I put Oly and Iron city on my Mt Rushmore of terrible beers, lol.

Looks good.  Pretty fancy for bar food.

Rainier is my casual beer of choice while out at the bar. Benny at the Tin Hat does some good work in the kitchen. The daily specials are always good. It's a hidden gem of a bar.

Wife's birthday yesterday. Prime filet with montreal seasoning on the grill. Cheater Luger steak sauce. Potatoes, asparagus, spinach and mushrooms. And my finger prints. I nailed that cook.

Looks good. What does the steak sauce do? Marinade or put it on afterwards?

I haven't used a steak sauce in years...

Funny story.  My uncle was having dinner at a steak house and he asked for steak sauce.  The waiter looked at him like he had ten heads.

My Uncle said when the steak came it was so good he didn't need any steak sauce.

This from a man who only ate things well done/dry and burnt toast. A product of the depression.  When he ate something with flavor it was like his whole world opened up. It only took him to do it in his 60;s lol.

Steak sauce after. Mostly for the potatoes and the veg. Basically ramped up ketchup. Steak needs no sauce. But I have no problem with those that like A1. Steak and eggs at the waffle house might need A1 or HP brown sauce if you can find it.

For my taste buds, steak sauce ruins the taste of a good steak.

It is more for the sides. But I disagree. Even the finest Japanese wagyu comes with a bit of sauce. Sesame, miso, soy. If you have not had ponzu with your steak, you are missing out.

I have never been. I've only been to NYC like 3 times. But next time, I will eat this meaty bread. Last time I was there I ate a lot of chopped cheese sandwiches from the bodega next to my hotel, I got a couple slices from Joe's, and some other place that had an awesome grandma's pie a little later that night. My buddy also showed me this awesome spot out in Queens called Rolo's. I had their lasagna, and it was great.
