    Tried their latest presale and went through the process all over again. I finished a 12 hour midnight shift at 6am and it was all i could do to stay away until 9am (local time) for them to go on sale. Started at 62,000 in queue. Kept falling asleep in the queue and setting my alarm. Finally after about 35 minutes it popped up that they were sold out.

    I wonder how many of these tix are going to be "re-sold".

    I might plan a trip to try and get day of.  If not I can just go gamble the money I would have spent on merch and tix!

    I'm in the middle of a complete Metallica catalog listen, in order. Never done it before, for anyone. PJ is next.

    Currently finishing St. Anger.

    For the longest time, I purposely excluded it from my music library in protest of how awful it is. Lars should be arrested for the mind-numbingly awful drum sound.

    Ultimately, I do get what they were going for with it, and I give James a pass because he was struggling at that time.

    As far as the rest goes:

    - Their first 5 records are soooo good.

    - I'll put the run of Ride The Lightning/Master Of Puppets/...And Justice For All up against anyone.

    - RTL continues to be my favorite Metallica record, and a desert-island record for me in general.

    - AJFA is probably their best record.

    Metallica added a couple of shows at Mohegan Sun Arena in CT so figured I'd check out the 5th member presale. worst seats in the house are $575 for a single show (didn't see what the 2-night price was). Knew they'd be expensive, but damn, they make $pring$teen look like a cheap date.

    Were they platinum tickets?  I had bought Houston tickets for last years show (before we opted not to go), and they weren't bad, about 20 rows up on the 50 yard line,.  I think they were around 275 usd per ticket.   I did notice when I bought them, they were also selling a tonne of platinums for considerably more.  

    Actually I just googled that venue, it only holds 10000 people.   That's probably high demand for a small venue.

    I'd like to get one more spin with metallica before they call it a day.  Hopefully they make it back to Vancouver one of these days.

    I've always said if they got rid of that metallic drum on St Anger it would be a great record.  The highs are really high on it too.  It was made to listen through a crappy computer monitor and not good speakers.

    Puppets and Kill em All are my favs. RTL has waned over the years for me.  It doesn't have the same punch the other two I mentioned do.

    Everything in the lower bowl (that was available when I looked) was listed as platinum and cheapest I think were over $1,600.00

    It is a small arena so I expected prices would suck but not suck like a Hoover infused vampire prostitute.

    I'm kind of at the point I did a run through of most of my favourite bands that still tour after covid was done.  I'm mostly done that, so it's see my absolutely favourites, catch the odd one I have seen in a long time (Metallica) and catch a few on my list I've never gotten to see (Radiohead, Poison).

    I've really slowed down with concerts this year.  I guess I've been going to them for so long, it's like do I need to pay $500 to see this band for 5th or 6th time.  This also conflicts with, I haven't seen this band in 14 years, should I pony up for one more go around before they call it a day.

    Yep. I have become much more selective with shows due to pricing.
    Seeing Bush (with Mammoth opening) Sunday and paid $35.95 a piece for tix. GA tix were $66.10 and I was planning to go but held off on buying tix in case something were to come up, checked a couple weeks ago and they added a GA category "special pricing" for $35.95, so jumped on it. Basically, now look for combination of decent value and artist I want to see. Said yes to Zombie and Manson for $158 for good seats, said hell no to Springsteen and now to Metallica due to absolutely ridiculous prices. 
    I can justify paying up to around $200 a ticket for the right seats to the right show, No way can I justify paying $575 for the crappiest seats in the house or over $1,000 for a middling seat. That's just insanity.

    This is pretty much exactly where I am.

    If my Mount Rushmores (PJ. The Pumpkins, Metallica, The Strokes) come to the NY area, I'll absolutely see them. I will travel for basic tour shows, so to speak, for really only PJ.

    I saw Uncle Neil live for the first time 2 years ago, so I can cross him off my list. Not dying to see anyone else. I could be talked into seeing my lovey, St. Vincent, or someone PJ-adjacent (Glen, Josh). But I've also been there, done that, along with Bruce solo & with E Street, The Who & Roger/Pete solo, U2, Billy Joel. No real need to see them again.

    I've never seen McCartney or Dylan. I'd have to think about them, and maybe sell a kidney lol.

    I'm also planning a bachelor party for late summer/fall, and looking at either GNR or AC/DC at Met Life. Never seen either one. GNR was the first band I really loved, before PJ, and I really like AC/DC, but if I don't see either, I won't be bothered by it.

    I finished my chronological Metallica catalog listen last week. I included Garage Inc. and also Lulu.

    Second-half notes:

    - The remastering of Death Magnetic is a colossal improvement on the original. Someone on these boards pointed it out to me years ago, I didn't know it existed. Rick Rubin should shave his beard in shame for giving us the original. Love TDTNC, UN3, and S & R.

    - I probably like Hardwired the most out of it, DM, and 72 Seasons. If Hardwired was a little leaner, it would be great.

    - 72 is too long and just meh, although I do love the yellow lol, and the whole 72 seasons/first 18 years of a life concept in general. Inamorata is me in a nutshell lol. "Misery, she needs me...but I need her more." Andrew Cremeans made a sick poster for it, which is hanging on one of my bedroom walls:

    I'm glad you did Garage Inc too. It is still one of my fav albums to listen of theirs.  I love all the covers but Die Die my Darling.  It's the only one I felt the song was flat.

    After Puppets all those years ago we got Garage Days Re-revisited to pacify us until And Justice would come out.

    Of course we all loved it and clamored to find the original Garage Days that didn't exist.  It was rumored to be the Creeping Death Import that no one had ever seen.

    I have a creeping death import. Likely not the one you speak of. Has creeping death one side, am I evil. Blitzkreig side 2. 45rpm 12 inch. No jacket. Music for Nations. Likely a boot. Got it as a kid.
