California governor says world leaders are ‘played’ by the US president and urges them to stop rolling over

Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, has decried Europeans for their “complicity” in failing to stand up to Donald Trump’s demands that he be allowed to buy or annex Greenland.

Newsom, a frontrunner among Democratic candidates for president in 2028, told reporters at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday that Europeans were being “played” by Trump and that their efforts to negotiate with him were “not diplomacy, it’s stupidity”.

“It’s time to buck up, it’s time to get serious and stop being complicit,” he told reporters. “I can’t take this complicity. People rolling over. I should have brought kneepads for all the world leaders … this is pathetic.”

Yo, Gavin, perhaps a wee little bit of introspection is in order, eh? I mean, 70M+ ‘Murikkkans voted for the schmuck, SCOTUS is all in, the repub party is all in, Dems are still doing performance art and more of the general public is meh than outraged. All of this from the world’s preeminent nuclear power. Maybe get your own house in order before making demands of countries an ocean away and who didn’t vote for the POS and his Nazi bootlickers.

Edit to add, the EU and UK should recall their ambassadors and boot all ‘murikkkans and deny them entry, even as tourists. Or at least charge a $1,000 entry fee.

The fact that Trump himself posts insane fake images like this is so fucked up, there just are no words. And there is not really any small comfort in knowing that this is his idea of putting himself in a good negotiating position, because while that is probably true now (at least the Canada part), it won't be for long, because just seeing images like this obviously leads him towards deciding it's a good idea to try and make it reality, because he's completely demented.

He's a pretty good public speaker. He seems to prepare and give a lot of thought to what he says. I've generally been protest voting the last few Canadian elections because I don't like our options, but he'll win me over if he can match actions to his words.
