Here’s my newest set up. Most recent add is the Boss Tera Echo. I love it. Super watery adding a lot of depth. Also modified my phase 90. Took it apart and cut R28 and C11. It’s way better! So it seems to sound more like the script EVH version now. No volume boost (which is why I did it) and super buttery now.Post edited by Abe Froman on0 -

Nice colored jumbo knobbers! What’s the brothers pedal like? I like my Blooper but I think I need to attend a 4 day seminar to fully learn how to use it.Jason P said:Pedalosaurus!

i didn't know people could modify their phase 90. i guess when i think about it maybe that is what van halen did in the first place?
what is that thing in the top right corner? next to the terra echo?"You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

oh man i think i would need another degree to learn how to run this thing, haha.Jason P said:Pedalosaurus!

lots of great stuff on there. how do you like the protein? the blue side might by my favorite drive that i have. doesn't do too much, but what it does sounds really nice no matter where i put it in the chain."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."0 -
Between Brothers and Protein, out of the box I like the Protein better. But Chase Bliss pedals take a while to dig into, even though Brothers may be their most straight forward pedal. Clean might be the most important, as it helps tame the plethora of fuzz pedals I have. I was using Mood on my synths, but I'm probably using it more now that it is in my guitar chain ... it is chaotic and sublime at the same time.I have the pedal board on a small rising desk that is the same footprint. It allows me to raise it a few feet which makes tweaking pedals much more enjoyable when sitting and playing. Not having to bend over has made a huge impact on getting pedals dialed in.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

Chase Bliss just released a $1,000 pedal. I haven't really looked at it because I'm not spending $1,000 on a pedal that I can't even try out at a music store. And even if I could, it would have to be a god pedal to drop that much money. I feel dumb spending $400 on a pedal.Chase Bliss should work with independent retailers so people can demo them and it will help pull foot traffic into the few that are left. I don't think this would hurt their current business model very much.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

chase bliss gives me option paralysis. too many knobs and switches for my tastes. just give me something with a few knobs and maybe one switch that i can change via red remote or something. anything beyond that is too much for me. i don't want to spend hours learning how to use or dial in a pedal. i have never heard of the clean before but sounds pretty interesting.Jason P said:Between Brothers and Protein, out of the box I like the Protein better. i have a similar desk for my boards. it is much easier to sit and tweak instead of having to kneel down or bend over to dial things in. also beats having to use my kitchen table for things like that."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

they have basically priced me out of their offerings. the most i ever spent on a pedal was on a king of tone a few years ago that i got for $550. it was in great condition and was black with the high gain red side. i figured paying basically twice the price was easier than signing up and waiting six years for them to build me one. i can't justify spending that kind of money on another pedal though.Jason P said:Chase Bliss just released a $1,000 pedal. from what i can tell the chase bliss stuff does not come down too much on the secondary market either, so that sucks."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

Top right corner is a reverb and delay pedal from Sonicake called levitate. Its very inexpensive and sounds great.gimmesometruth27 said:

The Phase 90 mod is interesting. So I love that pedal but it was giving me a pretty massive volume boost lately when I use it with any of the distortion pedals. Not only that it was getting muddy with them too. Both issues were annoying the fuck out of me (as I use this combo a lot) so I looked up solutions other than moving my placement of pedals again. Found that this is very common with my version of the Phase 90 and there is a pretty easy modification you can do and it makes it sound very close to the Script version which does not have the volume boost or the treble problem with distortion pedals. It was actually pretty easy and more surprising actually worked! Im not sure the history of the EVH story.Post edited by Abe Froman on0 -
reverb and delay is a great combo. i will have to check that one out. i have an el capitstan that is like that but the reverb is a little much on that thing even at a low setting. i had a henretta tremble tank that i really liked but the reverb was really noisey. i sent it back to the maker to have him service it and it did not help any so i ended up trading it in. its a shame because i dug that pedal even if it was noisey.Abe Froman said:

if you run your drives into the phase 90 i can see how it would boost the volume. you could have tried running the phase 90 into the drives but i can't imagine what that would sound like. plus that would have been a mega pain in the ass. sounds like the mod fixed it and you didn't have to pay someone to do it, which is nice."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

Seems like everyone had one a few years ago. One of my friends has one he's getting rid of and I'm going to try it out. We'll see if it's good enough to displace anything I have on my board.gimmesometruth27 said:
