    to confirm, Rachel Maddow existing on MSNBC does not make MSNBC far left. Their day time lineup is basic cable news. Their evening programs are pretty centrist with attorney Ari Melber and Nicole Wallace (famously of the Bush White House) and Jen Psaki ( famously of the Biden WH). Former Bloomber exec Stephanie Ruhl doing the business side of government and Larry O'Donnell, such a classic democrat he interns for Moynahan and produced the West Wing, every liberals fantasy show). I guess Chris Hayes is pretty left, but I also think he's intellectually pretty fair. Morning Joe is as centrist as they get and thats their longest program. Kinda tells you all you need to know about the network.

    A recent report from ProPublica is a harrowing demonstration of ICE overreach. It puts the lie to the declaration of the DHS spokesperson that “we don’t arrest U.S. citizens for immigration enforcement.” https://trib.al/2VAw4lQ

    The facts on the ground tell a very different tale.

    The report documents two categories of concern. As ProPublica notes, about 130 of the total number were arrested for allegedly assaulting officers. Many of these allegedly were overblown: At least 50 of those cases were tossed, or charges were never filed.

    It is the other category of detained Americans, at least 50, that presents a graver indictment of ICE. 

    Consider that nothing sets apart these relatively few American victims of ICE from the tens of thousands of people the agents scrutinize. Nor do the agents know their nationality when they confront them. 

    So what we’re seeing in the ProPublica report is very likely ICE’s general M.O. And a series of lawsuits on behalf of noncitizens alleges exactly that.

    I watch Nicole almost every day and the near entirety of her show is “Trump is evil.” There is absolutely zero balance and perspective any more. Her show spends zero minutes challenging any extremism from the left, including the recent socialist wave. Her show and her network spent zero minutes covering our city’s history with President Ford and what influenced him to tell us to “drop dead.” During the last few weeks when this city’s politics was top news story.  Yes that’s a news trope.

    Because its either extreme fringe or not a real threat. Especially compared what actually being accomplished nationally from a ruling political party.
