President Donald Trump is reportedly spending millions more on weapons for his masked militia descending on American cities—who will now have access to “guided missile warheads.” 

Independent journalist Judd Legum reported Monday that between Trump’s inauguration and October 18, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has increased weapons spending by 700 percent compared to the same period last year. In the last nine months, ICE has spent a whopping $71,515,762 on purchases of “small arms, ordnance and ordnance accessories manufacturing.”

“Small arms” include armor, explosives, chemical weapons, pistols, and rifles. “Ordnance and ordnance accessories manufacturing” refers to other materials, such as artillery, barrels, extractors, and mounts. 

For comparison, in 2019, ICE spent just $5.7 million on the “small arms” category through October 18, and during Trump’s first administration, the government spent an average of $8.4 million per year. 

While most of the spending was on guns and armor, Legum reported that ICE had also purchased “guided missile warheads and explosive components.” So while Trump has backed off selling Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, it seems he’s more than happy to arm his immigration authorities with lethal projectiles. It’s not immediately clear what part of a good-faith deportation operation would involve localized destruction and murder—but that’s because no such thing exists.

Clearly, Trump has plans to ramp up his federal immigration crackdown, which has gone hand-in-hand with his federal takeover of American cities. In Chicago, federal agents have conducted violent arrests of U.S. citizens and journalists, fired a pepper ball at a faith leader, unleashed tear gas on police, and shot two people, killing a father of two.

While bolstering his private army, Trump is planning to eliminate funding for SNAP benefits—starting four days ago.

A government does not increase its expenditure for lethal weapons by 700% for one sector of the national security apparatus unless it intends to use them. My “theory” that the current CCOOTWH government with Pigseth, Bondage, Gnome and Herr Miller at their respective helms, coupled with the rhetoric from Herr CCOOTWH, that it is not outside the realm of possibilities that those weapons will be used by ICE against ‘Murikkkan citizens or on US soil, should those citizens or “others” pose a “threat” to said regime. Particularly protesting sham election results or suspended elections. What you’re, general you, seeing now with the ICE raids, NG and military deployed to cities, and extra judicial murder of boaters is the normalization of such behaviour, and thus far, a “meh” from folks dressed up in frog and dinosaur costumes or holding “they’d rather be at brunch” signs. I get it, gtb,  Anyone with a heart and at least half a brain has to be feeling some despair, and many of us a lot of despair, anxiety, and/or depression.  

I've had to cut way back on my current events/ politics reading, including how much time I spend in this segment of these forums.  

My wife has an amazing ability to "compartmentalize".  She can read about the shit-storm, care very greatly about it, do what little she (like any of us) can do, and then go about living her life.  I can't do that.  I tend a lot to have obsessive thinking (aka, be in "the spin-cycle").  The only way I keep from being overwhelmed is to limit my reading about this shit.  Sometimes, I'll ask my wife how bad the news from Heather Cox Richardson or Dan Rather, etc. is (saints though they be) to determine if I want to go there.  I keep busy with my used book and record business, listen to music, play games that require my full attention (Word Trip, computer Hearts, Wordle, anything that requires focus), or organize shit (I'm an organizing freak).  Sometimes I write to like-minded people just to feel a little better knowing I am not alone in my thinking.  

The other thing is- and I think this is important- is to remember that the #1 strategy of fascism and authoritarianism is to do everything they can think of to wear people down.  We need to do whatever we can to not give that to that.  Remember: all fascist regimes are eventually doomed to fail.  There will always be another one somewhere, sometimes, but they always fail.

And as Neil Young once said in a song, "Love and only love will endure."

A change of a couple percentage points in the interest rate can easily change the total cost of a home by hundreds of thousands of dollars, making it the most impactful financial factor. $3 or 4k per year, when combined with existing tax and employment benefits can easily provide enough for a home and millions in retirement assets. Foolish for any wokester to disagree with facts.
